‘Good Advice:’ Ron Paul Allegedly Approves of Anti-Zionist Rabbi’s Message During Campaign Run-In

Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul is familiar with controversy, but this is one he’d probably rather avoid. Paul, who has been accused of being anti-Israel in the past, allegedly had a brief encounter at a campaign event with Rabbi Yisroel Dovid Weiss, an anti-Zionist faith leader.
At an event in New Hampshire earlier this week, the two apparently shook hands. During the exchange, the Jewish Chronicle reports that Weiss told Paul that Judaism is a religion and that it ”should never be transformed into a nationalism.” The paper claims that Paul’s response — which will certainly draw ire — was that this statement is “good advice.”
The Chronicle has more about Neturei Karta, the anti-Zionist sect that Weiss is a part of:
The controversial sect, rejected by almost every other part of the Jewish community, was founded in Jerusalem in 1938 in order to fight Zionism and has actively championed Israel’s enemies ever since. One Neturei Karta member, Rabbi Moshe Hirsch, even served as Minister for Jewish Affairs in Yasir Arafat’s Palestinian administration.
Below, watch Weiss (circa 2008) railing against Zionism, while supporting the Palestinian people:
Weiss is also known for attending Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s “International Conference to Review the Global Vision of the Holocaust,” during which the Middle Eastern leader questioned the Holocaust. In 2006, Weiss also told Iranian media that “it is dangerous deviation to pretend that the Iranian president is anti-Jewish and anti-Semitic.” He continued:
“[Ahmadinejad] is extremely friendly and he understands the difference between the Zionists and the Jews who do not embrace the state of Israel… We don’t look at him as an enemy”.
A photo of Weiss’ interaction with Paul was posted on the American Spectator web site — along with an image of Weiss and Ahmadinejad:

A screen shot from American Spectator
In fairness to Paul, he likely had no idea that Weiss would be at the event. That being said, his agreement with the rabbi’s statement will only compound the negative press he has received for his perceived anti-Israeli sentiment.
Last month, a former aide — Eric Dondero — came forward and essentially said that Paul is against the Israeli state. However, the Paul campaign has defended the candidate’s stance on the Jewish state. Aide Leon Hadar told Haaretz that the candidate isn’t against Israel.

“He is just against foreign aid, and does not see any reason to grant an aid to the country that is a member of OECD,” Hadar said. ”We should remember it’s the primaries, and the Republican party establishment is not happy about his popularity, because on many issues his positions run contrary to the traditional party’s agenda.”
In a separate interview, Paul told the outlet, himself, that he’s not opposed to the Jewish state.
“I do not believe we should be Israel’s master but, rather, her friend,” he said. “We should not be dictating her policies and announcing her negotiating positions before talks with her neighbors have even begun.”
(H/T: Haaretz)

What baffles me the most about evangelicals not supporting Paul is that besides Perry (who will be out soon), Paul is the only Evangelical Christian in the race. There are two Mormons and two Catholics (and very slimy ones at that), and evangelical Christians are supporting them?!?!
I think it should be pointed out that Paul is the only evangelical in the running. Also, most Christians are not aware of the fact that Ron Paul will be, in his own words, the most pro-life President in history. It’s also important to point out that by cutting all foreign aid, Paul will be helping Israel, since we currently give more money to Israel’s enemies than we give to Israel. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wnj-5z9NJoY

I agree with you. Beck is turning into a shill for the very same progressivism he has claimed to hate and want to actively work against.
He actively worked hard to garner as much support for a very weak Bachmann. She was the “safest” bet to be a slightly right wing president. That having failed he turns his “fondness” for a right wing progressive, Santorum. Beck is obviously free to pimp whoever he wants to, but it’s impossible not to clearly see the agenda to help sustain a dramatic paradigm shift for where the center line in American politics are. Beck is helping the left draw that center line closer and closer to Oligarchy rule, and it’s a disgusting trend.

See you are the one not listening. Where are you going to get the $130 Trillion for the retiring baby boomers that would be guaranteed their benefits?
You will need to tax the working. The number of collecting verse those supporting will be 2 to 1 in the worst conditions at Paul’s rates. Excuse me, but you think every worker can give $10K+ to support a senior? See I know the tax system on this. first issue is that because after $90,000 you can’t collect on, any income above $90K is not taxed at the 12 % (6% from worker and 6% from employer). Seeing as the average wage is $40K, that means we will have to be taxed about 12.5% and an employer 25% to cover benefits. That is on top of the income tax. Not to mention all the embedded taxes.
See what happens when you listen and know the FACTS.

Of course, in 2008, that was another “crazy” idea. But now? All the candidates are for it, but they’re not “crazy”. Go figure.
Your stated points are the same things Paul has been saying, and in many cases, he was the only candidate saying it. Paul said that if we cut trillions of dollars in Government spending, like we should, that senior citizens will not have to worry about losing their savings. It is a fact, the out of control spending politicians, have taken out of the SS fund. This money belongs to the people, not the Government. The Government has committed a fraud, and Paul would like to return that money back to the rightful owners. He advocates for a transition period, wherein the elderly will receive their due pays, which is their money anyways, and the younger folks will be able to opt out or start a private savings account. Paul want’s to gt rid of Social Security, but understands that people have worked all their life, put money in it, and depend upon it, in their old age. He is trying to right something that was wrong to begin with. This transition period will phase out Social Security and put an end to the fraud that it is.

We must revert to a leader who will pledge their allegiance to the US Constitution alone! The situation is that dire.

You are so wrong when you say he does not support Social Security. He does not support it for the young, but wants the Baby Boomers to still collect. He said it last night. His plan is to end it for the young, but as he said:
“…we cut this over sheet spend, at least we might be able allow these social security beneficiaries to get their checks and medical care be provided.” (IE keep the status quo for the most dangerous deficit adders)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Da6irSCvnZY Start listening at 10:20.
This will also expand to the rest of the baby boomers that are 60-65 (and as far as 55-65). This is the token Republican line an why he avoided the interview questions and said they where taking him out of context and getting him off message. HE plans on cutting the youth’s ability to collect and cut everything to pay for the promises that are unconstitutional. Meanwhile, we (the youth) will all have to pay. The $130 Trillion figure is just on the baby boomers collect which every politician (including Paul) promise to keep in the loop.
That alone is 50% of the GDP (which is stagnant). Dropping the youth only prevents them from collecting, it does nothing to reduce the unfunded liability. This is why he dodges to answer the issues. WE will not be able to afford it. The only person that tried to answer this issue was Herman Cain with 9-9-9. So don’t say Paul is the only one.

Posted on January 11, 2012 at 5:26pmThanks guys… I see where you are coming from… My problem is that these baby boomers (which both my parents retire this year and are a part of) feel they deserve the entitlements. They paid in, they see the issue… but they are wanting to ride that train regardless, because they feel entitled.
At least my mom saved up a lot. My dad, not so quite. But they both plan on collecting because it is there. They see the issue and know they are endangering the youth. They are doing it regardless. Problem is at least 60-75% of baby boomers feel the same. But, they were the first generation to be coddled by the Government teat. I just get pissed that most call themselves Conservatives or Republicans but will not push away and take personal responsibility.
These lead me to the belief that the entitlement needs to stop period. Rip the band aid and let the nation deal. If we are afraid of the hurt, then this is no better than the Bail Outs. Sorry mom and dad, you were fooled and were horrible with your voting and protecting my future. You are the ones that need to pay for your follies, not me and my peers.
I personally felt Ron would be more Constitutional on this. We must assume personal responsibility (especially the elderly).

We should just cut off all entitlement programs, and stop this dependency on the Government for one’s livelihood, once and for all. I would like to cut them off immediately. However, though they be unconstitutional, I understand that some (at least SS) are more than just unconstitutional, they’re a fraud and mass act of theft. I’m pretty sure the US would be overloaded with lawsuits if they willingly fail to pay and keep their promise. Little do these folks know though, the economic turmoil or depression the world is about to face will probably cut off their checks before the Government even decides to.

Posted on January 11, 2012 at 10:02pmI would hope that everyone, including Glenn, take a moment and think about Ron Paul. First of all, he does not hate Israel at all; he’s simply a non-interventionist at home and abroad, and what the heck is wrong with that. Israel is their own sovereign nation and can fight their own wars. Why are we getting twisted up in knots over whom our next presidential candidate will be based on how an international entity, or country (Israel) fits into the picture. I mean, think about it, do we pick our presidential nominees based on what France thinks about us, how Great Britain’s alliance fits into the picture, what Germany thinks about us, or what the U.N. (which is a bunch of our allies) thinks would be our best U.N. friendly move. When it‘s put like that we don’t even question it. Is it because Israel is in such a hairy predicament, and it is, there’s no denial about that. But they are their own sovereign nation, and hopefully can defend itself. On Fox & Friends this morning, Ron Paul gave a great answer to the question on whether he is offended about people calling his foreign policy kooky, he said going into Iraq was kooky as they are now Iran’s ally against us, how true that is. And I’m tired of the fake callers like the obvious Romney supporter who called today and pretended to be a Paul supporter and then went off on this over the top anti-semitic rant about the Protocols of Zion. Give me a break, we know who the phonies are, you can’t hide from us.

A simple plea asking you to respectfully walk through your disagreement with Ron Paul on foreign policy articulating which side of the difference is progressive and why.
Glenn has stated he is not for policing the world.
Glenn has stated he is not for Nation building
Glenn has stated he is not for foreign aid, including Israel
Glenn has stated he is not for defending other nations, including Israel
Glenn has stated he wants US out of UN
Ron Paul’s foreign policy
-Congressional declaration of war (as outlined in the Constitution)
-Defend America and American borders
-Wage war to win and to conquer, no nation building
-Stop using USA military (American lives and tax dollars) to police world and defend foreign Nations
-Stop aiding, defending, arming Muslim tyrants just because they have some oil
-Defund and leave UN
-George Washington’s farewell address attitude
I have a hard time seeing a difference. One I do recall is Glenn saying we have to protect “oil” so we are not cut off….If we bomb Iran what does Glenn think will happen to oil prices? Is it Progressive to give up principles and side with tyrants for foreign resources? Responsible?..

Posted on January 12, 2012 at 12:03amIs the Persian (Iran) Muslim tyrants such a threat with Nuclear technology that we must arm, defend, and financially aid Arab Muslims and essentially create the Arab Caliphate out of fear of the Persians?
We sold Saudi Arabia F-15′s
Saudi announced it plans to go nuclear
Muslim Brotherhood is a Sunni (Saudi) financed group
United Arab Emirates have nuclear technology
UAE just bought bunker busting bombs from US
Saudi just called for an ARAB State (Caliphate) to include Jordan, Yemen, Saudi, Pakistan, Qatar, UAE, and Egypt. All aided and armed by the US..Will this ARAB Caliphate then turn on Israel and cut off oil to America after we help the ARABS beat back the Persians….
Who’s the one with the crazy foreign policy?
Rick Santorum is for foreign aid to Muslim tyrants
Santorum is for siding with Saudi (Caliphate) to topple Persians (Iran)
Santorum is for defending Muslim tyrants
Rick Santorum is for policing the world
Rick Santorum is for the UN
Glenn, you disagree with Rick way way way more than Ron. You‘ve even said those holding Rick’s policies were crazy and progressive several times..

For your education. Benjarmin Netanyahu speaking before Congress, May 24 of 2011.
Since I doubt you will learn anything since its clear you havent learned anything in the past 4 years, I will put some quotes.
“Israel has no better friend and America and America has no better friend than Israel.”
Here comes the part you need to clearly hear. It comes from minute 2:39 to
Here are the highlights.
1. The United States doesnt need to do nation building in Israel. They are already built.
2. We dont need to export democracy to Israel. They already have it.
3. We dont need to send troops to Israel because, “ WE DEFEND OURSELVES” from the exact quote from Prime minister of Israel.
Does this mean Ron Paul will not sell weapons to Israel? No. It means we wont give them weapons. They are better off economically than we are. We also, quit giving their enemies more than twice as much money as we have given Israel. Under Ron Paul, Israel will finally be able to defend itself without having to ask us for permission.
Oh and since Ron Paul is so anti-Israel why did he do this then.

Posted on January 11, 2012 at 11:14am@ martin sorry you had to do all that typing to make no point. Baracks administration “does not” support Israel. This is proven everytime obama speaks on the issue. My point was that evertime a voice emerges in support of Israel, you get ten others that jump to the conclusion that the support is some sort of call for America to interfere in some way shape or form.
I think we might be on common ground when it comes to supporting Israel but my comment had a purpose. You see, I intentionally poked at Ron Paul to get a responce , and well friend, you did it. You immediately launched a personal attack on me and how educated I am on this topic. Paul supporters immediately resort to personal attacks if someone doesn’t support the “chosen one” You’ve made my point for me, I’m just sorry you had to do all that typing for nothing.

Posted on January 11, 2012 at 10:02amNo there isn’t. This is just the same as what was tried with Romney the other day that Ron Paul defended him on. As espected, people will read this article and take the authors word as gospel because if the media spins it a certain, then it must be true.

Posted on January 11, 2012 at 9:59amWould he not be correct? That would be a clear seperation of church and state that the Constitution addresses. Religion, just as it is here in the US, should never be nationalism.

Posted on January 11, 2012 at 9:58am“…that Weiss told Paul that Judaism is a religion and that it ”should never be transformed into a nationalism.” The paper claims that Paul’s response — which will certainly draw ire — was that this statement is “good advice.”
In other words this Rabbi is recommending and Paul is supporting, a separation of church and state, is that a bad thing now?

Posted on January 11, 2012 at 1:04pmGood point. These folks here at the Blaze are trying to make something out of nothing. Or, taking things out of context, again. Show of hands here, who want’s any religion to be nationalized here in the US? Does the Church of England run by the Monarch, or the Holy Roman Catholic Church run by the Pope, come to mind?

Posted on January 11, 2012 at 9:58amBit of a nonimportance story. Judaism SHOULD never be turned into a nationalism. To do so would be to endorse a religious stance as a government over another. That falls in line with the 1st Amendment does it not?

Posted on January 11, 2012 at 4:57pmI’ll type this real slow so you can understand this…
Judaism is the religion of the Jewish people. To be Jewish and non-religious is not inconsistent. To be a Zionist or an anti-Zionist and Jewish is not inconsistent. Jews are not monolitic on relgious beliefs (some of my best friends are Jewish-Buddists) nor politics (I am a conservative & Libertarian leaning) even though most are libs and lefties.
I believe in Israel as a political entity and refuge for persecuted Jews from all over the world. I believe that 77% of Palestine is already an Arab state named Jordan – a creation of the Brits. I believe in the Zionist philosophy of a need for a Jewish nation in their historical homeland.
I believe in America and I am an American-firster. But I also know that Israel is one of America’s top ten friends/allies in the world. Traditionally the US has developed the best military equipment in the world and has relied on Israel to field test them under battle conditions (without the loss of a single American life). Israel votes more consistently with the US in the UN than any other country including the UK and Canada. Israel receives less aid then all monies spent on Arab countries in aid (including Saudi Arabia – go figure). Israel is no more a theocracy than England or France which have “state religions.”
I am sure there are a gaggle of people out there who would try to “prove” I am wrong by referring to U-Tube or Google. Try it with a reputible source

Posted on January 11, 2012 at 8:36pmNo need to repute with anything but the mind. Your argument depends on your belief in the need for a religious homeland of the Jewish people. That‘s the same thing the Palestinians are now saying and it’s becoming a religious argument; the only thing you have going for you is your religion is older. So now, we have a ******* contest over religion and land. I don’t care who said what or what book said what; my point is Israel won a war and is not acting like it and we in the US have our noses in BS (that ******* match previously referenced). If the USA acted like Israel did, the south would still exist, they‘d still enslave people down there and they’d be still warring with us a century and a half later. This will happen in Israel with the current viewpoints, yours included Timothy. When a nation wins a war, the winner imposes its will on the loser. This is what happens in war, if you don’t like it, go piss up a tree…. unless you’re in Israel where the Palestinians have done exactly that and gravity has reversed course. I wish the entire middle east, sometimes, could be picked up and punted into deep outer space. So yes, I like Ron Pauls hands off, pay attention here at home. Let the two of you fight, you have been for thousands of years, if I Iran is stupid enough to launch a nuke, they can be the new recipient of an entire nation made of glass. If not, excellent. Either way, Israel has big enough britches to handle her own region.

To think Paul wants Isreal to stand independantly and make its own decisions – he is absolutely crazy. Next thing you know he will want the American people to be free and responsible for their own success or failure.
Paul = Crazy Old Man in love with the Constitution, so you better dismiss him or you too could be responsible for your own actions instead of continuous sucking at the teat of Big Giverment and letting Big SIS Napaletano and her goon squad wipe your butt.
