Google Pushing for Gay Rights With Worldwide ‘Legalize Love’ Campaign

Google gay rights legalize love

Google on Saturday launched the "Legalize Love" campaign to promote gay rights around the world.

Google has launched a worldwide campaign for gay rights, a top executive said Saturday.

The “Legalize Love” initiative is to promote human rights and tackle employment discrimination in countries with “anti-gay laws on the books,” Google said in a written statement, according to CNN.

Mark Palmer-Edgecumbe, the company’s head of diversity, made the official announcement during an LGBT professional summit in London. The campaign’s first two target countries are Poland, which does not recognize same-sex couples, and Singapore, which criminalizes gay sex. “Legalize Love” will eventually spread to every country where the search engine giant has offices, according to the LGBT professional networking site Dot429.

“We want our employees who are gay or lesbian or transgender to have the same experience outside the office as they do in the office,” Palmer-Edgecumbe said. “Singapore wants to be a global financial center and world leader and we can push them on the fact that being a global center and a world leader means you have to treat all people the same, irrespective of their sexual orientation.”

According to Dot429, the campaign’s strategy will center around partnering companies with organizations to support grassroots efforts.

“We operate in many countries and have a very globally mobile workforce,” Palmer-Edgecumbe said. “We have had a number of instances where we have been trying to hire people into countries where there are these issues and have been unable to put the best person into a job in that country.”

According to CNN, a Google spokesman said the “Legalize Love” campaign will not push to legalize same-sex marriage.

Google has shown extensive support for gay rights in the past, including coming out against California’s successful 2008 ban on same-sex marriage.

“While we respect the strongly-held beliefs that people have on both sides of this argument, we see this fundamentally as an issue of equality,” Google cofounder Sergey Brin wrote at the time.

Additionally, this year‘s Valentine’s Day “Google Doodle” featured a gay couple. You can watch below:

People have the right to do whatever they want in the privacy of their homes. But when they put on a perverted display in front of kids, thats where I draw the line.

And what do you consider a perverted display. I was once yelled at, in Asia, for walking down the street with my gloved hand in that of my husband’s gloved hand. Is merely walking down the street with your romantic partner a “perverted act”. Would you object to a straight couple doing it? I don’t believe in “get-a-room” displays of affection from ANYBODY, Gay or straight.

You can legally bind with you first tricycle if you want, but that is NOT MARRIAGE!! FIND ANOTHER WORD!
I love women, but do not need a day set aside, every year, for me to march down Main Street in S&M gear to show that fact. WTF is wrong with you people?! Call me a homophobe, but I donb’t need a “I like women” banner. They can usuallly sense that…

@Altair, I had been there for several years, at that point and had seen much greater displays of affection by the natives.

@the rest of you. I said consenting adults, appliances and other inanimate objects are not capable of informed consent. Why do you have to jump to such absurdities? What does that say about your maturity and your views on marriage. As to those notorius street festivals, you have to go out of your way to get there and if you don’t want to see it, don’t go. I‘ve been to Vegas and have never seen anything I didn’t want to see. I’ve never been to a strip club in my life, don’t intend to start now.

Here is a link to the 2012 Las Vegas pride parade:
      http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IuNO6FblxQo
I especially liked the cowboys in briefs, hats and boots! Ewwwww.

I remember in my younger days searching for band names. “Antic:” was brout up. I looked it up and this was it:
      1. a grotesque, fantastic, or ludicrous gesture, act, or posture.
      2. Archaic .
      a. an actor in a grotesque or ridiculous presentation.
      b. a buffoon; clown.
      3. Obsolete .
      a. a grotesque theatrical presentation; ridiculous interlude.
      b. a grotesque or fantastic sculptured figure, as a gargoyle.

These kind of parades are “Antics”.
      Nice show. Real classy…

CABALLOS, sorry, but you are in the wrong country. I think you are looking for Iran or Afghanistan. Here in the US, the idea of depriving others of their rights simply because they don’t meet some criteria that you hold to is not accepted. You, nor your snowflakes, have a right to be free of things that offend you, only a right to life, liberty and property.

@Acid, what make believe country are you living in? There are quite a few places where I cannot run a business that allows smoking indoors, even with meals and drinks. When opening a business I have to conform to the EPA, EEOC, OSHA, FTC, IRS, etc, etc. When building my house I am under the thumb of the EPA, Local ordinances of compliance for materials, and design. If I want to drive a vehicle it is subject to the DMV, EPA, Local and State registrations and repair requirements. If I want to speak about politics I have to conform to the FEC and IRS standards. If I want to open a church I am subjected to the standards of the IRS, FEC, and local ordinances. If I want to have children, I am subjected to the scrutiny of the CPS, and State welfare agencies as far as education requirements. Regulation of who can marry and who cannot and PDAs (in which all sorts of ordinances and laws govern nuisances.. guess what.. stuff that offends people!) is the very least of the oppression the rest of us live in.

You’re correct, CAVALLO, we do live in a regulatory state. So is your answer to demand MORE regulations, as CABALLOS desires? Where those who are offended by every utterance can use the force of the State to fine or incarcerate you? Currently, the right to speech is relatively free. I prefer to keep these few areas of freedom untainted.

I’m going to assume by that comment that you are trying to make a claim that I am gay, which I am not. I’m sorry that I support equal rights to all people, unlike you. I can be straight, and still be for gay marriage.

It is people like you who give Christians a horrible name.

What’s ironic here is, I have Christians friends(who I have talked about here on before).

One day we were discussing how Christianity is viewed by non Christians when it comes to homosexuality.

My friend(an Evangelical Christian) then said it’s people like the Westboro Baptist church(their protests, signs, etc) that give Christianity a bad name.

Knowing that my Christian friends are actually decent people, I tried to defend Christians and say, “Well you can’t judge all of Christianity by some of the more radical people.” and my friend shocked me by saying that he thinks the Westboro Baptist stance on homosexuality isn’t viewed as radical to most Christians.

It’s crazy that in 2012 we still have people as ignorant and childish as yourself. Please grow up.

I am a Pole and I firmly believe that Google should keep its nose out of Polish culture. How dare they ram the homosexual agenda down the throats of a Roman Catholic nation! The homosexual agenda has nothing to do with equality – rather it is about trying to elevate immoral behavior and silencing all dissent. Google is nothing but a useful idiot for their cause, and they should be ashamed of themselves for supporting such intolerance. Hell has no fury equal to an angry liberal who is determined to force uniformity of thinking – not true diversity. Most Poles like myself don’t like homosexual BEHAVIOR, but we still accept them as PERSONS. What Google is advocating will only reduce freedom in Poland, but we will NOT stand by and allow that to happen. Political correctness equals intellectual cowardice, and you are guilty of both.

Remember, the USA is full of useful idiots, and that obviously includes many companies…acting no doubt out of a fear of being un-PC, so put all these liberal movements up front and praise them. “Company head of diversity”?. Geeze. The real reason here folks is (1) the desire to foster division in US society. Most gays couldn’t care less about “marriage”…enough activists degrease their wheels enough to squeak and attract attention, do their stupid perverted parades, and ensure that every company/institution has a diversity department to cater to any demands (or get sued). This is much the same as the feminist crap using an open ended definition of “sexual harassment” to have a win at every accusation. The second reason is money. The chase for a “right” to be called married means money/benefits/etc. An obvious third reason is just to be in everyone’s face all they want under the protective umbrella of PC. I don’t use a religious reason here, its enough just to say abnormal is abnormal; do it all you want, I don’t care and enjoy yourselves, but don‘t demand I accept it just because you can now stick it in everyone’s face. If the gay lifestyle was normal, nature would have long ago compensated for it and made it possible either two men or two women to impregnate each other. When that happens, the rest of us may have to reconsider the definition of “normalcy”.
      …and the decay moves forward…..

When we deviate from natural love and start calling “LOVE” anything we choose, the results are not only predictable, they’re immediately fulfilling the prediction: not only men sodomizing men (and now boys and occasional infants), but sex with (and calling for legalized marriage to) dogs, cats, horses – the list is long – and now, if you’re Muslim, sex with corpses (“necrophilia”). Some temporarily call this “bizarre,” but when anything goes because there remain no standards, the result is what was seen as creeping insanity but has become the insanity freight train. Not long ago, insane people were helped with a goal of perhaps curing them; now our leaders see the wisdom of joining and promoting them. When our leaders call “love” any form of sexual intercourse – don‘t say they’re not, because they are and you may not be paying attention – then “love” has become a meaningless term and excuse for ekporneia.

Bad move, DesertRose1960! You see… I‘ve introduced a logical snare and you’ve taken the bait. The only way to avoid the snare (too late for you) is to FULLY embrace sin. ALL OF IT! So now… you kind yourself in a tight and painful trap…

      If your answer be “yes”:
You have positioned yourself as an advocate of sin SO GROTESQUE, it is simply UNPALATABLE to the most naive of hearts.

      If you answer be “no”:
You have JUST DISSOLVED EVERY ARGUMENT you attempt, by introducing JUDGEMENT, that you YOURSELF have demanded by REJECTED.

And arguing over “consent” will only FURTHER EXPOSE the hypocrisy, as the victim tries desperately to chew it’s paw off to escape the trap!

But, I’m game if you are. In my will, I have CONSENTED possession of my estate to my family. I have ALSO CONSENTED to my 20 year old daughter (WHO AGREES) to “love” my corpse after death. Furthermore, we will begin adoption proceeding to create a BIG “family.“ The ”family” portrait will be beautiful, no? So I ask… WILL YOU AND GOOGLE CELEBRATE MY “LOVING” “FAMILY” or will you TAKE AWAY THE “RIGHTS” and “RESPECT” that other couples enjoy.

YES or NO? … and the snare tightens…

Then I suggest you leave this “rapid ?, radical Righwing, gun toting, religiously fanatical Conservative
      website!
I don’t go looking for gay propaganda, but it is everywhere I go…main stream media, tv, movies, even on this radical Righwing, gun toting, religiously fanatical Conservative web site. It is pervasive, and any criticism is quickly attacked by the progressive left.
Yes, I am tired of having it thrown in my face day in and day out.
And how are we (religious right conservative gun toters) treated by main stream media, tv, movies, etc.? Who is stridently condemning that? No one is. But God forbid that someone criticise anyone of color, sexual perversity, or radical jihadist thinking and the soft left comes rushing to their defense.

@DesertRose, okay how about incest, polygamy, etc? Consenting adults, after all. Where do we draw the line?
Homosexuality is not natural, not conducive to humanity. Put all the lesbians on an island and all the gay males on another. In 100 years there’ll be nothing left.
Thos saying gays don’t shove their perverse lifestyle down others throats are insane. Your agenda is being pushed on innocent children as young as 4.
If you want to have your partners have legal rights, go find a lawyer. Quit with your parades and the disgusting and perverse flamboyant crap.

Because, desertrose, that would be discriminating against those who have the affinity to marry their dog. We can’t have that. It’s true, informed consent is a problem, which is why we will just REDEFINE marriage so we don’t need informed consent, just like we are redefining it to include same-sex.

@Brother Winston Smith, How so, exactly? If you don’t like Gay marriage, don’t marry someone of your gender. Allowing someone else to marry the adult they want has NO EFFECT WHATSOEVER on your marriage. Marriage is much more degraded by those who go through serial marriages and divorces and those who refuse to marry at all because of the legalities.

Oooops, DesertRose1960. Playing the innocent martyr doesn’t play well with me. No, INSTITUTING sodomite/lesbian/deviant “marriage” NORMALIZES it, THRUSTS IT into culture, schools, media, advertising. childrens’ minds… and WEAKENS CORRECT MARRIAGES, by attempting to DISSOLVE their meanings. Which is the ULTIMATE GOAL of the sexual deviants. NOT TO ENJOY marriage themselves… but to DESTROY MARRIAGE. Sin NEVER creates… never builds… never produces. It ONLY destroys.

@Brother Winston Smith. You’re funny. I get the feeling, reading your rather bizarre and rambling “logical snare” that it is supposed to show how clever you are. You know, lots of mentally disturbed people weave incredibily intricate and complex “narratives” that make perfect sense to them and leave the rest of us confirming their level of mental disturbance. You’re the one hung up with perversity.

@MECPL, I’m completely ambivilent to adult incest and adult polygamy or polyamory. I’m very straight-laced and long married. What other people do is their business. I have a problem with people get married and divorced more often than I buy cars, but if that’s how they want to live their lives, okay. It doesn’t change how I live mine.

@Desdemona, That should have been “rabid”. I’m sorry if you feel your position is being attacked. I‘ll bet the NeoNazis and the KKK feel they’re being unfairly treated, too. I know a fair number of Gay people and I’ve generally found them nicer and friendlier than a lot of “Good Christians” I’ve known in my life, the people who use the Bible and Jesus to validate their particular forms of hatred. I live a very staid and conservative, family oriented lifestyle. No one bothers me or stops me from going to Mass or staying faithful to my husband or eating a family dinner with everyone around the table. But then I don’t go around trying to force everyone to live the way I do. I respect their choices.

Either way you’re correct, Love and Sex are neither mutually inclusive or exclusive. Some people are very confused and pay little attention to details.
