GOP Plan: Let White House Agenda Starve

GOP Plan: Let White House Agenda StarveAmid whispers, and sometimes shouts, that Republicans are in line to take back at least the House this fall, criticism has emerged that GOP leaders lack a cohesive plan to unite the party around a battle plan. But today, one is emerging.

As the Wall Street Journal explains, “House Republicans are planning to chip away at the White House’s legislative agenda — in particular the health-care law — by depriving the programs of cash.”

Practically, that means using appropriations bills to starve the White House agenda, mainly “the administration’s overhaul of health care and financial regulations and its plans to regulate greenhouse gases.” According to the article, GOP leaders also hope to cut spending, return unspent stimulus money, and cut taxes.

“We need to establish the proverbial lines in the sand and show we are serious about limited government,” said Wisconsin’s Rep. Paul Ryan, a popular “young gun” House leader.

The White House, however, is hoping that people already addicted to government programs, specifically health care, will make Republicans pay. “What the Republicans will be faced with is really taking those benefits away,” said Kathleen Sebelius, secretary of Health and Human Services. “They will have to face their constituents who have their children enrolled on a family plan and say, ‘That can’t happen anymore.’”

Come November, Republicans just might have to have those tough conversations — and they seem willing to, for now.

Start with stopping the hiring of 16,000 IRS workers. That alone would severely cripple the bill. The ridiculous off the hook bill.

Please anyone: Just show me one person in congress or running for congress, willing to serve on his/her own dime. OK, we will reimburse thier living expenses.

No one, not even one person I have heard, has any sort of plan to pay off the debt, and shrink the size of the federal government. 14 trillion + what, another 107 trillion of unfunded liabilities? Ok let’s play a new game, since the world does not have that much money in circulation.

Question: Other than the military which we need for our protection from despots foreign and domestic, how many days/years would the federal government have to shut down to have enough money collected to pay off all that debt, and fund the future liabilities? Remember: this debt includes the pentions of all those government workers too.

I’m just saying it seems the argument is we want and deserve it all. So how long do we shut ‘er down?
People with greater math skills than mine will have to do this equation.

Second question: What are you willing to do without, in the meantime and will you help your neighbor through? Seriously where do you shrink the size of government? Just asking is all.

As far as I can tell there aren’t enough people who are willing to do without for any meaningful period of time, so as to have any effect. Until we all come together, all political stripes and decide that freedom is worth the sacrifice then it is all a waste of time.

I’m one of those that take government money; I am a retired veteran on pension. I watched the welfare program grow from the beginning and I am very dis-satisfied. My income was frozen last year meaning no COL raise while the COL rose a huge amount. I’m not looking for hand outs, I’m looking for what the government promised. It looks as though it will be difficult to actually obtain all the promises. As soon as someone was able to fool the government into providing disability pay; thousands ran for the goal.

Now we have hundreds of thousands living the life of governmental providence with more promised every day. Past President Bill Clinton did a bit to reform the welfare system and much more needs to be done. Those getting the “easy life” will scream bloody murder as they did when Clinton told them the free ride was over and get a job. The current government is encouraging thousands more to take the hand out and that is preposterous. Even the idea of our government providing for the huge pay union pensions and the low pay government programs makes me angry. Remember back in the day when charity organizations provided help for folks?

I was grabbed one day a few months ago by the services lady in the HUD apartment building I live in. Yes, HUD; there is no way I could pay over $600.00 a month for an apartment or rental home. The lady had me give her some details and a week later I got a cell phone with minutes given every month. Do all seniors or retiree’s need cell phones? This is a life line program to be sure I have some way to call people when needed. It’s a government hand out all the same; just like where I live is a hand out. The rent here caps at just over $400.00 a month for a single bedroom, small apartment.

What I am getting at; there is no real way to have a decent life even when the government hands out as much as possible to folks. The government should not even be in the position of providing retirement insurance to begin with. It is the individual American that needs to look toward the time when their career is complete and rest. FDR and his policies like the New Deal really mislead Americans and Social Security is not a safe haven when individuals have no retirement plan. All it was meant for was a bit of a safety net. As soon as a chance to live for free is given, many will do all they can to collect a free living.

I was pushed into retirement because I simply could not go on making my way in the world. Hundreds of thousands did not have to retire, or even retire because they worked. The government entitlement programs led to a very bad situation like multiple generation welfare recipients. The same entitlement programs encourage the dishonest to milk the government for all they can and do nothing in this world. Change is needed badly; not the transformation the current president wants. That is total governmental control that plows under civilizations.

What are we to do? I’ve given up increases in pay and settled for health care that is provided by the government through the Veterans Administration. I live with a bunch of folks I don’t particularly like (some are frauds, but not many.). I pay the inflated rates for food and utilities; I can’t own a car at current prices due to lack of income to support it. Even if I could buy a cheap car; I couldn’t pay the insurance premiums, gas, and upkeep of it. I could live for 10 years on what a Congressman makes in one year and would really enjoy the upgrade in a Congressman’s health care.

Where is the government’s responsibility here? Our government simply cannot provide for everyone to have everything they want. Even with that; there are those who seek to not work and be helpful citizens in this country. REFORM is a much needed thing. Reform will cost me in one way or another I am sure. It is not our government‘s responsibility to make everyone’s life some sort of utopia. Charity for those that are in need is a good thing, yet the government prevents real charity any more. The madness has to end; stop Congress and this ridiculous president we have.

Vote and use your voice for change; the two party governmental system needs to become a thing of the past. The Democratic party just happens to own the villains this time around. The Republican party has/had just as many villains. I see the current buzz on the media stations of the Tea Party being a part of reform for the Republican party. That is nonsense because there are just as many bad Republican Congressmen with long careers. No single political party will ever provide what Americans need in government and Congress is not providing anything Americans need.

There are hundreds of Congressmen that need to be replaced, one president that needs to be replaced, and several Supreme Court judges that need to be replaced. In short; our government needs to be “gutted” and started over with safeguards for our citizens. The sort of power that government provides to those that govern is a very mean spirited thing. The governmental powers have been subjugated and turned to the will to those that seek power over citizens, a country, and eventually the world. Citizens of America need to act now and act in long term ways to prevent the ungodly turn our government has taken for decades. As far as making a viable plan to reform goes; that will take Americans a long time to perfect.

      ADIFFTAKE,
For once a fair question from someone with doubts. The simple truth, is that without government handouts, interference, and practices that restrict the growth of business and wealth… We the people will provide that charity. I know that that sounds hard to believe given the blinders of the current society that are put upon us. But charity will begin in very quiet and subtle ways, then like weeds, it will quickly grow to fill in any and all gaps where there is a chance for growth, It is simply natures way (Gods way). And left to our own, the way that we will naturally gravitate towards.
I know that this sounds like a delusional pipe dream, trust me, I do… But when you understand the mechanics of it, it all makes clear sense. It starts simply when like minded people in a community begin to pool their resources in order to better their lot. You would be amazed at how well a good many people can do with just a very little when they practice this. This would be called a community (A real community, not just neighbors co-existing). Soon, the stubborn loner holdouts with dwindling resources will see the value and want to join the community.
Next, the community will have increased needs and a desire to fulfill those needs. So they will create businesses, businesses create jobs, jobs create wealth, wealth creates more jobs and a need for more businesses, and the cycle goes on and on. Also it grows exponentially, as communities pool together their resources to create even more growth and wealth.
All of this growth, and wealth, and jobs would include taking back the jobs and industry that were taken over by illegal immigrants, or sent overseas by the iniquities created by constant government intrusion, and strangling policies.
By now this should be sounding quite a bit less crazy. As a matter of fact, it should sound quite familiar. These are the basics of the principals that made this nation so great. So great as a matter of fact that it took twenty years of increased taxes and restrictive policies to finally buckle the knees of this great nation after Reagans restoration of “Supply Side Economics”.
Fair taxation and nonrestrictive policies will enable the prosperity to get us back on track. All of that money has not bean spent yet, and there is still time (barely) to stop that damage from increasing our burden.

Difficult times are ahead if we want to save our country from this insipid creeping tyranny.

I look back and see what America was, I do not like where Obama is taking this country, I hardly think any freedom loving person does, it comes down to what any one individual expects from this nation. And vote accordingly, and to conscience.

When we look at the polls, it is hard to believe that the Democrats could win, it is hard to believe that so many still fully support Obamas’ agenda…but they do.

I have total confidence in Conservatives, and all the “Young Guns,” to help put this country back on track, I do not want us to be like every other country out there…we are EXCEPTIONAL in that we are FREE!! We fought to live a different life from the one many came to America for…I do not want us to ‘slide back’ to Euro style governance, but that is exactly where we are headed…

We need to stick together, quit answering these trolls that patrol this site day in and day out, they detract from the issues every time, they are a waste of time, don’t do it folks.

There is only one thing I am sure of, we have to vote and get these establishment politicians out. No ifs‘ ands’ or buts’, it is coming down to the wire, it’s now, now is the time to make as many changes as possible to carry us through to 2012…

I pray daily for our great country, for our service men and women who fight daily to secure our freedom, and I pray for us, for the strength to continue our ‘fight’ against all that is said and done to us.

Well, we have a lot of WORK to do!! But lets be honest with ourselves, it is our job to do the work! When I get angry over where we are as a country today, I get angry with myself. The progressive movement may have started before my time, but it really gained traction on OUR WATCH!! I look back at the times I did not push back when progressives said stupid stuff, and the times when I haven’t made a difference when I could–we should have started yelling a long time ago. It is going to take more than just our votes to correct this–we need to remember “from whenst we came”. MANY of us came from poor families, but everybody was poor, so we were just like everybody else. When people needed help, we couldn’t just throw dollars at the cause, we got up and went and helped them. WE ARE GOING TO HAVE TO DO THAT AGAIN! To reduce the size of government, we will need to meet our neighborhood and local government needs–turn off the TVs and get involved.
For many of us, this will just be turning back to how we were raised. Many of us had parents who had lived through the Depression and World War II, who saved and used everything–we have seen them do this and learned from them. That is why it is our job to help correct this–many of us may not have raised our children and grandchildren to know how to survive during bad times–we just need to remember how to do it!! And on the plus side, not only will we and our country be BETTER, we probably won’t even have to worry about going on a diet!!

Absolutely the wrong approach, Repubs. Allowing Dems to scare the huddled masses, afraid to lose thier precious aid programs, would result in higher Dem turnout at the polls.

You may be claiming to only defund the projects passed by the Obama admin, but how much do the American people as a whole trust ANY politician these days? Taht fear carries over into any type of assistance they get now.

It should have been thier responsibility to have their own plans for any bill that came through the Dem side. Just because you are the minority party, doesn’t mean you just sit on your hands. If you had a healthcare bill of your own written up, talk about what your plan would have been. If you want to take measures to restore our economy, talk about those ideas! You sound like a child throwing a tantrum. Refuse funding, period. No word on what you will do to change or replace these bills. You don’t have to have a comprehensive plan, but at least tell the public what your general intentions are!

Sounds to me like the establishment on the right really doesn’t want the pressure of being in power. Might be too much work and too many difficult decisions to be made. Time to get people in there who will take on the challenges without fear, and make the right choices for the American people.

The Republicans had a plan for health care reform. It was for reform, not for complete takeover. Paul Ryan had a plan as well as the Senator from Tenn. Obama kept asking for ideas, but wouldn’t return phone calls or e-mails to people with the ideas. Maybe you should get your news from other sources. The Republicans need to defund evrything for two years and then completely repeal the disastrous legislation that this administration has passed that will completely bankrupt this country. If the Republicans can’t return this country to our Constitutional values and fiscal responsibility, then we will vote them out.

Every year the Poverty Level is raised. meaning you can make more money & still be poor. The higher the bottom line, the more people that qualify for Social Welfare programs. The higher the number of recipients of handouts, the closer the final straw comes to breaking the camels back.

Add in a few million Illegals to the cradle to the grave roster, and the economy collapses from the weight. Cloward/Piven and the Regressive Dems dance in the streets. The USA becomes a Socialist Utopia. Unless all of the lifetime freeloaders & those that do not really qualify for Social Welfare are kicked off the gravy train.

QweeQwa, perhaps. you should start an “intellegent conversation.” You could start by telling us why the poverty and dispair that existed for thousands of years before the industrial revolution was not the result of the oppression of the individual by the tyrants. You could explain why the current oppression of the individual is different from that of the “Tribal Chiefs and Witch Doctors” who controlled what passed for civilization before the industrial revolution. Don’t forget to tell us why it will be “different this time.” http://commonsense21c.com/

Duckhead, I would vote for Donald Duck, the wicked witch of the west and all her monkeys before I will ever vote for a demolibersocialcommie freak who hates this country. We may not always get things right the first time, but after that we try something else, not the same old “mad scientist, vee shall rule da vorld“ simon barr sinister ”I’ll be the king of everything” communist takeover plan. If you think your life would be so much better in a place like that, why not try it out? Why not see how well you live in Cuba? As long as you don’t renounce US citizenship, you can come back. Why do you want to destroy the last place on Earth where people can make of themselves anything they have the desire and the drive to be? Why do you think everyone from every country is coming here, you stupid freak, if the socialcommie system you so badly want to set up here is so good for all people? Why do they risk their lives and the lives of their children just to give them the SLIGHTEST chance at living in prosperity, of having enough food in their bellies and a chance to earn a living beyond the bare necessities? You’d better think about it before you throw away the legacy that has been gifted to you by birth and that millions of people would willingly give their lives for the smallest chance at attaining.

STARVE? It is the average family who is starving. I am not voting for a party who’s only agenda is to STARVE the running of my government. I expect my party to go to Washington and solve problems. That means you are not aways right about everything. That means that you do not lie to keep your ass in office and to pad your pockets. MAKE THIS GOVERNMENT work.

Almost anything that removes power from the “Fourth Branch of Government” will enhance our freedom. Since Obama has veto power, the only way to prevent the chaos that will result from the multitude of Obama initiatives is to prevent funding of those initiatives until the tyrant can be removed from office.

Rules and regulations created and enforced by the “Fourth Branch of Government” (the bureaucracy) that restrict innovation, inhibit the creation of wealth and provide advantages to the “technologically challenged” are the root cause of our problems. Inflation, credit and failure of financial institutions are just the symptoms, an attempt to cover up the failure of “disastrous centralized planning.”

Money manipulation is simply a method of misappropriation of wealth. Wealth must be created before it can be misappropriated and the Bureaucracy inhibits the creation of wealth.

Our problems started when the bureaucracy obtained significant power during Roosevelt’s (T) Administration. About 10 years later the Fed Was created and it’s been downhill every since.

Chapter 8 (The Bureaucracy – ICC) of “21st Century Common Sense” addresses this point in detail, including a description of the “Iron Triangle” (control of the bureaucracy by special interest) and an enlighten quote by Woodrow Wilson highlighting the capture of the Bureaucracy by “special interest.”

The bibliography on my website allows you to visit the websites used for the book’s research just by “control-clicking” on the website address.

To prevent starvation, one must first produce wealth (food). Every Obama initiative is calculated to either destroy wealth, inhibit the creation of wealth or redistribute wealth to political cronies!

If you believe in small government, then you MUST put government on a diet. In this case, a very, very big diet. In this approach, we believe that as government shrinks so will you chances of putting food on your table INCREASE.

BUT (these things can get big and ugly) if you believe it is government’s responsibility to put food on your table, then you want bigger government—and I hate to break your illusion and shatter it but many of those places with big, big government historically get something called “bread lines.” So get in line and hope for that food you so desperately need.

As for myself, and we can barely afford our bread, I want smaller government. I am for starving. The only problem I have is that these appropriation bills ARE the problem. So I am against that. As I see it, government has to stop spending. Cutting off these bad legislations by defunding them is great but I read this and it sounds like we may be creating a situation where instead of one group becoming dependent on government we just shift the money to another group creating the exact same sort of dependence but now we call it good???

Exactly! I certainly hope that if Republicans gain the power they actually do this and don’t back down and try to compromise when the lamestream media, Stewart, Maher, Moore, Behar, Maddow, and the rest start villainizing them and viciously attacking. Time to man up and show they have skins much thicker than Obama’s. Come to think of it, a 5 year old has skin thicker than his.

Today’s conflict is between freedom and tyranny. Of course, those who support oppression of the individual do not call it tyranny.

Time will decide who is wins and the conclusion is imminent. If freedom is lost a very barren future for the human race is ahead as we sink back into the “Middle Ages.”

The American Revolution, that lifted the world out of the “Middle Ages,” cannot survive the growth of bureaucracy and loss of individual freedom contained the three 2000+ page laws that have already been passed. Remember, the Bible is only 1500 pages long.

One final thought, if tyranny was in mankind’s best interest, the oppression that characterized the Middle Ages would have resulted in prosperity and happiness. The perfect economic system would have been discovered and there would have been no American Revolution.

Tyranny dominated the world for thousands of years and the result was always poverty and despair. Who really thinks it will be different if tyranny again rules the world?

Anyone taking bets that some contrived national emergency will postpone the November elections? I’m not convinced that this administration is going to allow the elections to take place as they know that even if they keep the majority, their chances of passing more oppressive legislation is going to be nearly impossible.

Freelancer- Hugo Cavez dispatched his civilian militia, Venezuela’s National Bolivarian militia, ahead of next weeks election. His personal militia is comprised of like minded thinkers, their goal is to intimidate and disrupt. Stratfor.com has been reporting on the regime rationing food and electricity as well as medicine for any and all dissenters. Our own Government has Americorps, President Obama spoke of the importance of having a civilian Army “larger than the National Guard” While I doubt he will dispatch a militia against the American people during this November’s election, there never is day that goes by that I’m not shocked by his actions. I am confident our American military will never allow it, they will uphold the Constitution, they will protect our great Country. Our elections have never been so important as they are now.

      Definition of TRAITOR
1: one who betrays another’s trust or is false to an obligation or duty
      2: one who commits treason

Now put the word CONGRESS in for TRAITOR!!! This is the ONLY reason there IS a TEA PARTY.

Crist is a TRAITOR for running as an Independent. Specter was a TRAITOR for jumping ship also!!

Beck has a rally about CHARACTER, the LEFT is all over him and the people that attended it!!!

Many of WE THE PEOPLE are sick of your PARTY POLITICS. The reason the center has moved RIGHT though is not for the Republican PARTY so much. It is that the other choice is to vote for PROGRESSIVES,SOCIALISTS and COMMUNIST like the COMMUNIST O’Donnel will be running against in Delaware!! Just like the Pelosi’s, Reid‘s and Frank’s.

There is NO MORE Democratic Party that many joined decades ago!!

Look at all the Dems that are running away from the “Speech Giver” and the Health-Care Bill they voted for just to get votes and stay in office. THIS is what WE THE PEOPLE are sick of!!

Mandatory Health-Care was not a tax and Steph read him the freaking definition. Now that it is going to lose in court it is a TAX!!

WE THE PEOPLE do not mind paying tax’s it is the CRAP we pay for. $800,000 dollars of STIMULUS money to teach AFRICAN men how to wash their Genitalia !!!

      BETTER DEAD THAN RED !!

      TERM LIMITS NOW !!!

      FAIR TAX NOW !!

      NO MORE PENSIONS FOR CONGRESS!!

      NO MORE CAREER POLITICIANS!!

It is far past time that our political “representatives” stop representing global corporations, big unions and special interest groups and start representing the majority will and best interests of the American people.

After decades of open borders, “Free” Trade deals and “misrepresentations,” the American people are finally waking up to reality. As our quality of lives deteriorate, we realize that we are governed by a two-party/one-party monopoly. One party represents global corporations, the other party represents global unions; and both parties are driving us over the cliff… All in the name of personal wealth and greed, and all at the expense of the American people.

America is truly at the 11th hour… What will it be? Back to the Constitution, common sense and the rule of law with a smaller government, fiscal accountability, rugged individualism and civil liberties? Or will we become a piece of a “global society” run by a handful of wealthy global elitists at the top with no hope for the chance of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness?

We either fight for America and her founding principles of freedom as we know it, or lose it… This is our choice.

Obama’s only hope of achieving his goal of becoming a dictator is to complete his take-over before the November elections or declare martial law before those elections. If the power grab results in to armed conflict there is little hope for the survival of freedom and our constitution. In all of history, thaer has been only 1 George Washington. The result of armed conflict will be a dictator, perhaps one the promises free elections in a year, just as Castro promised Cuba. Cuba is still waiting. But the dictator will probably not be Obama. Civilization will sink back into the Middle Ages, http://commonsense21c.com/

I am genuinely concerned for what may happen before the elections ..both this year and before the 2012 elections. Have you heard Nancy Pelosi’s bold statements of late.. “We WILL NOT go back”. ..What do they know that we don’t?.. Sounds like a pretty definitive statement of fact to me. And I really don’t put anything past the realm of possibility that this regime is capable of or will try.

My husband had a dream the other night. It scared him and he told me about. Mind you ..it’s only a dream (or rather a nightmare). .but in his dream the Pentagon suffered a nuclear attack. What on God’s earth would that do to our military if it ever came to pass? Be vigilant and wide awake America. These people are not about to step down willingly or leave easily now that they are so close to getting what they want.

dressseller- The Weather Underground wanted to eliminate the Pentagon. Islamist tried to eliminate the Pentagon and Robert Gibbs stated several weeks ago when mocking the “professional Left” that they wanted to get rid of the Pentagon, Terrorist always attack again when they are not first successful. The World Trade Center is a perfect example. Combining that knowledge with Gibb’s highly unusual statement and the fact that the Obama Administration leaked online our civilian nuclear sites it is no wonder your husband is having nightmares.

The thing that really freaked me out about his ‘dream’ was that he said it was so vivid and he didn’t think he was actually fully asleep at the time.. but just falling asleep. It was like some kind of weird premonition he said. …We both are so engaged these days and maybe are plugged in to too much news and too many details..(if that’s possible) …But.. ..like you all have said.. there are startling irrational movements in this administration …which in and of themselves *might* not add up to much.. but when you put everything together they create a picture that you wonder if someone somewhere isn’t laying the ground work for some kind of event to happen.

But what are you gonna do.. ..tell someone ‘I had a vision’.. ..lol. ……People tend to play out the stresses in their lives through their dreams.. I know that. For weeks after 9/11 happened I would go to sleep at night and literally dream night after night that I was in the rubble at the WTC trying to pull people out. And I don’t know a single soul personally that was there ..I can’t imagine what it did to those who did know someone.

I hate what this insane administration is doing to all of our lives. Don‘t tell me we aren’t under MUCH GREATER stress these days because of what they have done and are doing to our nation.
