GOP Sen. Boycotts Hometown ‘Holiday’ Parade

When Sen. Jim Inhofe’s (R-OK) hometown parade of lights took the word “Christmas” out of the title, Inhofe had had enough. Now he’s taking something else out of the parade: himself.
Inhofe annually appears in Tulsa, Oklahoma’s parade of lights by riding atop his horse, but said he will not do so again until the name is changed back to the “Christmas Parade of Lights.”
“Last year, the forces of political correctness removed the word ‘Christmas’ and replaced it with ‘Holiday’ instead,” Inhofe told Tulsa World. “I am deeply saddened and disappointed by this change.”
Mirroring a decision he made last year, the senator said “I‘m not going to ride in a Christmas parade that doesn’t recognize Christmas.” He added, “I am hopeful that the good people of Tulsa and the city’s leadership will demand a correction to this shameful attempt to take Christ, the true reason for our celebration, out of the parade’s title. Until the parade is again named the Christmas Parade of Lights, I will not participate.”
Inhofe served as Tulsa’s mayor from 1978 to 1984. His decision to pull out last year went unannounced so as not to detract from the health care debate.
Inhofe‘s position is in contrast to Tulsa’s current mayor, Dewey Bartlett, who admitted he is in essence being held hostage by political correctness.
“If it was up to me, I’d call it a Christmas parade, but I also understand that we have a diverse community, and I’m sensitive to the importance of the many cultures and traditions that make up our city,” Bartlett said.

Mayor Bartlett is a coward! If he is concerned about diversity, let those various groups begin their own tradition. If they conflict with Christmas I predict they will quickly die. Show some courage Mayor – give Christmas a chance.

Posted on December 2, 2010 at 11:37amActually santa has all the makings of satan…..just jumbled letters.
Christ was really born in the month of September, and not December,….so who/what are we actually acknowledging anyway? Commercialism? Communism?…or people (if you can call them people) who profit from changing the actual meaning celebrating Christ’s birth?
Let them have their dumb ‘hail Hitler’ Christ-less, parades with their hidden pentagram and pyramid meanings…. just like on the back of the one dollar bill.
Report Post »Stay home with your families and sing true Christian Christmas carols which honor the Lord Jesus Christ!! :-)

Posted on December 2, 2010 at 11:49amI think everyone knows that Dec 25 is not the actual birthday of Christ, no one knows the date for certain so the day of winter solstace was chosen. look it up and you can find out why. The date hasn’t got anything to do with comercialism or comunism. Remember Santa Clause is Actually St Nicholas.

Posted on December 2, 2010 at 12:47pmKate, as I’ve very seldom agree with many of your posts, your need to clarify that everyone that knows Christ‘s birth is in September doesn’t surprise me!!! Your research is not up to par with mine about what is happening now, is it?
Report Post »Remember; St. Nicholas has nothing to do with Christ…do the research.
In case you’ve been following, whenever I may decide to post; I don’t allow myself to be pushed around, often, or not at all…..I am assuming that may be your intent.

Posted on December 2, 2010 at 1:13pmI didn’t say St Nicholas has anything to do with Christ I was only sayin that is where santa comes from. As for your research vs my research, who cares?
Report Post »If you consider anyone replying to your posts as someone trying to ‘push you around’ perhaps you should reconsider posting on a site that encourages discussion as you are too thin skinned. Clearly you don’t want to discuss anything you want to instruct. I am not your student and if you have no respect for free speach maybe you should not invite discussion by posting here. Sorry if that is offensive to your intellect but, there it is.

Posted on December 2, 2010 at 5:06pmKate, What you propose to know about me, appears to be done with tunnel vision. I think someone here said it best, when he spoke of a certain few here that need to get a life other than the Blaze….Hmmmm? Your a Blaze regualar and perhaps feel it’s your turf?
Anyone who comments here, and may not appear to be ‘fully’ conservative…..or with a hint of liberalism, usually gets attacked…I don’t call that free speech, or debate/discusssion like the beloved Fox news fans seem to enjoy.
If you feel I’m too thin skinned; maybe it’s you who ought to go elsewhere. Just your mere suggestion shows you trying to push…and only validates my statement.
Report Post »As for your comment about not being my student? It was you who first suggested I do the research….was it not?
Your comment also stated “Everyone knows Christ was born in September”…….do the research”, didn’t appear to be a discusssion to me. Try, to pretend (if you can) a reversal of my responding to you in that manner, and see if it seems like it wasn’t insulting.
Most people post to help others and share information that others may or may not find helpful. Some post to get issues that concern them off their chest. Many post to belittle others; and many post for the pure interaction. A few here, only interact within their own click’s and converse amongst themselves…..and never insult each other, and always agree about everything, never igniting debate.
Btw, not everyone has a clue that Christ was born in September…. and not everyone has a clue that Christ is a reality.
My referral about satan and santa, does correspond; I’ve read different material than you. And Christmas is commercialism all the way around, with a very lost meaning of why it should be celebrated.
untameable-kate
Posted on December 2, 2010 at 6:07pmRead my first response to you and you will see that I didn’t say anything about September, Never mentioned a month at all.
Report Post »I only suggested that you do research so I did not have to go through the entire reason for Christmas being celebrated on winter solstace.
Perhaps you or some people you know have lost the true meaning of Christmas but I assure you most people have not.
You attack me in every one of your replies to me on this subject.
I have not attacked you only attempted to engage in dialogue and for whatever reason you seem threatened by it.

Posted on December 2, 2010 at 9:51pmFree2bme – In reading the conversation between you & Kate, the only sarcastic & antagonistic comments are coming from you. You started by making your santa/satan statement. Why? You have so many snide comments and disguised anger… & then you tell Christians to stay home & sing our true Christmas carols. Who are you to tells us that we should not celebrate our God given right to freely practice our faith openly in this country? You insinuate that you are more intelligent than she; you are the one igniting a spurious debate. You are the attacker. Debate here is not based on proving that your opponent is part of a clique, that you are a better researcher or that one is better than the other. Not all comments here are fair, or right or well intentioned. There was no animosity anywhere in Kate’s comments. May I suggest that you sit back for a moment and re read what you wrote & think about it. God Bless you.

If the anger about God vs satan that I have bothers you, then I do question your faith.
I could go back into the archives to prove my point of anger on many comments….or you could research yourselves….lol….doubtful though, huh?
Can you show me that people with differing opinions have not been attacked?
Btw, you also have decided that “I think” I am more intelligent. Where did I state this?
I have done different research,……so thank-you for stating I am more intelligent for doing so.
I suggest you both reread my posts and analyze what I have said. Your versions are so far from my points and truths….

Posted on December 2, 2010 at 1:45pmMrButcher, the idea is that nobody has to support anything that they don’t want to. The winter solstice doesn’t belong to Christians, but Christmas does. (Although in truth both belong to God.) Nick E L didn‘t say we should cut people’s heads off because they don’t participate. Where did you get this “Christian Sharia Law” idea?
If this parade is based on Christmas and has been traditionally, which it has, then they shouldn‘t take the name out just because a few people might be sad because their winter holiday wasn’t included. If they want to have a parade for their holiday they can start their own. They shouldn‘t ruin someone else’s.
