Actually, lottery tickets are the ultimate tax on stupidity. This man is just a prime example of the type of person who buys them. I always believed that the lottery revenue a state receives should be earmarked only to pay for welfare benefits and food stamps – that way, the system would be self-funding. Benefit recipients would be paying for their own benefits every time they bought a lottery ticket.

When he won the 2 mil, wasn’t it taxed? If so, then it WAS considered income.

When they change the law, they certainly can make it retroactive. I bet they won’t.

This guy must think it is his lucky day, winning the lottery and getting food stamps also. I personally would be very ashamed of myself for being a piggy and taking from the tax payers that work hard to put food on my table. I feel sorry for these losers that don’t see anything wrong with what this guy is doing.

TEDDRUNK…………………………..A LOSER…………………………He may have won the lottery but he is still a loser in my book! Whenever I was low on money before my bad health set in, I worked one full time and several part time jobs. Yeah, I even cleaned toilets. BUT, I never went on food stamps to feed my kids or take care of my mother. Had I ever won the lottery, I would have tried to help those less fortunate in some way. This guy has no pride in his-self or respect for his country. He should be cut off and made to repay for the government help he has recieved since winning. If there needs to be an adjustment in the laws concerning this, do it now! No excuse for leaving it as is now, is there?

It is not just a Detroit mentality! It is a New York, Chicago, San Fran, L.A., Huston, Atlanta, (and so on) mentality. In fact it is not limited to a city or state it is a growing epicedemic in America. It can be summed-up (from Little Shop of Horors) “FEED ME”. It was born in the back-rooms of the progressive movement and will eat away at the very moral fiber of our society. If we ended the supply (Government funded Soul-steeling) today it would take at least 1 to 2 generations to make a change in the right direction. We need to get started ASAP.

I play the lottery, and I am fully aware that, for instance if I win the Powerball and take the “lump sum” as opposed to the “annuity” I get 1/2 the jackpot amount and THEN I get the 40% tax whammy. It’s STILL “found money”, whatever is left. Whenever I win, I share (at least 10% to the clerk)…the sharing is more fun than the winning! I hope this idiot finds God, and takes care of others instead of being p-o‘d that the ’gummint’ took so much of “his”money.

Oh so how is this different from the $ billion subsidies paid to oil companies who’s profits went up 38 percent from last year. And the price of gasoline is where it should be….Right. In that context why would you blame him. The oil company CEO’s who pocket $ millions in salary, benefits and stock options don’t have a problem covering some of that with our tax dollars. In comparison they are 100 times the freeloader he is.
