‘Great Bumper Sticker Debbie’: RNC Chair Suggests More GOP Presidential Candidates Could Run in 2012 (Plus Things Get Heated With Wasserman Schultz)

On CBS’ “Face the Nation” Sunday, Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus said the GOP has a great field of presidential candidates but there’s still time for someone else to get in.
With some conservatives saying Texas Gov. Rick Perry has had a shaky debate performance, speculation about the future of the GOP race has returned to the possibility of more candidates. Priebus says it gets “harder and harder” for other candidates to get in as the caucuses in Iowa early next year get closer, but said there’s still time.
Priebus’s comments on the 2012 Republican field came after a heated blow-for-blow discussion with Democratic National Committee Chair Florida Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz.
“It sounds like the new slogan is no longer ‘hope and change’,” said Priebus. “It’s, ‘Hey, it could‘ve been worse’. Great bumper sticker, Debbie. I hope it works for you.”
Priebus’s comments came following “blame Bush” talking points Rep. Wasserman Schultz regurgitated after her RNC counterpart asked if she could name one economic statistic in this country that Barack Obama made better. Priebus referenced Bob Turner’s win in the recent NY-9 special election to exemplify the level of frustration Americans feel towards the Obama administration.
“This has already been tested in a Democratic district. These talking points have been tested, and they’re losing. They’re imploding.”

Posted on September 25, 2011 at 9:49pmPriebus is trying to “be nice” to the GOP………but as seen w/Perry……….it is too late to get in this extremely important race and be poorly prepared, intellectually and financially (unless some big guys have some big $$….and then they’ll be wanting some some for “pay for play”).
Romney is not a perfect candidate (NEWS FLASH—there IS NOT one!) but he is extremely capable and:
1) intellectually prepared for national and world issues
2) prepared with experience in TURNING AROUND dying businesses, troubled Olympics and debt ridden state gov’t. (Perry could work if you want “status quo” which is what he’s done in TX)
3) able to articulate his ideas in a competent way
4) does not have a closet full of skeletons (if he had, the Boston Globe surely would’ve found them!! The toughest thing they had to “throw” at him was in the “saving” companies, people DID lose their jobs! The end result by far……….were MANY jobs created/saved! Duh!)
So……..let’s NOT feel sorry for Perry. If he can’t take the heat in some GOP debates, who in their right mind thinks he would make it in a general election??? Oh, my, people………THINK!

Posted on September 25, 2011 at 10:03pmThere is scuttle on Christie getting in the race. He’s repeatedly, emphatically said he WAS NOT running for POTUS. If he gets in now, his integrity has dropped drastically in my book!
First, he was just elected less than a year ago by people in his state that wanted him to turn things around. While he has made progress, there is still much to be done in NJ.
Trust in an elected official’s words is important to me…………and should be to all, especially with what we are experiencing w/current POTUS!

Posted on September 26, 2011 at 11:38amEveryone should go back to December 2008 the last month Bush was in office or actually through September 30, 2008 the last Bush budget and check on any number of economic indicators that were in a free fall. As my father would say statistics don’t lie, liars use statistics. It is not the whole 8 years of Bush that matter it is the last 2 years and the economic mess he left to his predecessor. Even Carter did not leave Reagan a mess like that. Save your uniformed ideological comments and go look at the indicators.

I have some inkling that Ms. Wasserman-Shultz is close with the Hollywood crowd, and acting may be something for her to consider if politics don’t work out over the next few years.
