Green Bay’s 16-0 Hopes End in KC

(AP) The Green Bay Packers’ perfect season came to a crashing halt on Sunday against the beleaguered Kansas City Chiefs, who rallied behind interim coach Romeo Crennel and new quarterback Kyle Orton to a shocking 19-14 victory.
Orton finished 23 of 31 for 299 yards in his first start for the Chiefs (6-8), who fired coach Todd Haley last Monday with the team having lost five of its last six games. The loss also ended the Packers’ 19-game winning streak.
But behind an inspired performance by the defense, four field goals by Ryan Succop and Jackie Battle’s short touchdown run with 4:53 left in the game, Kansas City managed to hand the Packers (13-1) their first loss since Dec. 19, 2010, at New England – exactly one day shy of a full year.
Aaron Rodgers was just 17 of 35 for 235 yards and a touchdown, and he also scampered eight yards for another touchdown with 2:12 left in the game. But the Packers were unable to recover the onside kick and then pick up a couple of first downs to secure the victory.

Posted on December 19, 2011 at 8:49pmGo Chiefs! This year has sucked (actually, so have the last 14 years)…but it‘s nice that they’re featured in the news for something good. Hopefully this is the start of many more wins in the future.

Posted on December 19, 2011 at 2:06pmMy bucs hit my expectation. I wanted to see Green Bay with a perfect season, Rogers is a good guy. I wanted to see Denver win again, yes, I’m on the Tebow band wagon, he’s what a role model should be, not arrested for drugs, accessory to murder, domestic violence.

Posted on December 19, 2011 at 9:46amAnd who would you prefer to get that ridiculous amount of money? Professional sports generate all that money because their legions of fans willingly hand that money over for tickets, jerseys and other team merchandise. The legions of fans also willingly hand over their Sunday afternoons watching the games, generating large amounts of advertising revenue. So where would you rather see that money go? To the team owners? To the league? Or…here’s a thought…maybe to the players who the legions of fans are actually paying to see? You know, the guys who are actually generating all that revenue.

Posted on December 19, 2011 at 3:05pmI agree.. TWO DAT
Not really a big Tebow fan but I came along this and thought this was funny.
Tom Brady, after living a full life, died. When he got to heaven, God was showing him around. They came to a modest little house with a faded Patriots flag in the window. “This house is yours for eternity Tom, said God. “This is very special; not everyone gets a house up here.” Tom felt special, indeed, and walked up t…o his house. On his way up the porch, he noticed another house just around the corner…. It was a huge 3-story mansion with Orange and Blue sidewalks and drive ways, a 50 foot tall flagpole with an enormous Broncos logo flag waving, a swimming pool in shape of a horse, a Broncos logo in every window, and a Tim Tebow jersey on the front door. Tom looked at God and said “God, I’m not trying to be ungrateful, but I have a question. I was an all-pro QB, I won 3 Super Bowls, and I even went to the Hall of Fame.“ God said ”So what’s your point Tom?“ ”Well, why does Tim Tebow get a better house than me?” God chuckled, and said “Tom, that‘s not Tim’s house, it’s mine.

Posted on December 18, 2011 at 5:25pmKudos to the Chiefs and Coach Romeo on a terrific win! I doubt the ‘72 Dolphins even had the champagne bought looking at this week! I’m a big fan and I was figuring on another blowout but was pleasantly surprised by the offense making plays and the defense playing hard as they have done for the last month or so. Longshot for the playoffs but this was a Super Bowl caliber win for the boys in red!

Posted on December 19, 2011 at 12:43amThe 72 Dolphin team Always has the Champagne ready. I really hope someone runs the table soon, just to shut them up. As a Packer fan, Congrats to the Chiefs! Really! They beat the Pack in every way today. Something no team had done in 364 days. I hope this refocuses the Pack as they close in on Another Superbowl Win!
And to those who are “Better than Thou” for not following sports, get over it. Yes there are much more important things than sports but many of us enjoy this form of Entertainment! Sometimes we need a break from all the BS going on in the world. Also, why shouldn’t the Blaze report on sports when there are many stories on here like “Watch this ‘Epic’ video of a rollor coaster with no breaks”

Posted on December 19, 2011 at 10:49amIt has always been obvious that those who do not understand all of the positive aspects of sports were those who were most likely always picked last on the playground and/or had no atheltic ability whatsoever. Not only are sports great entertainment for those who dreamed of playing in front of thousands of fans when they were kids. They provide many aids in youth development. They are great ways to instill the ideas of teamwork. They provide structure as well as an opportunity for kids to get outside and run around instead of playing video games and surfing the internet. And, perhaps most important, it can help kids understand that you will fail at times, and it is most important to pick yourself up after being knocked down.

Posted on December 18, 2011 at 5:20pmAwesome win by my Chiefs and Coach Romeo! I have been loving watching Rodgers and the Packers this season, but this was as big as a Super Bowl win after the season we’ve had. Good luck to the Packers the rest of the way. BTW, my sister-in-law teaches elementary school in Joplin, MO and was ecstatic to see the Chiefs players and staff hand out presents to the kids there in Joplin. Kudos to good people off the football field!
