‘Green’ President Flies Personal Trainer to White House Each Week

There is not a person among us who could honestly find fault with the First Lady’s crusade to make Americans healthier. Even the mass-challenged NJ Governor Chris Christie has gotten on board with the First Lady.  The benefits of a thinner population can help the country on so many levels.  But common sense also mandates healthy living must also be a smart proposition, WHAT you do in order to get healthy should also make sense for other parts of your life.  That is why my blood pressure spikes when I read that this allegedly environmentally conscious President is flying a personal trainer from Chicago to Washington DC every week.  Cornell McClellan is the man who travels to DC each week.

According to the New York Times, Mr. McClellan has been supervising the Obama workouts for over ten years:

He owns Naturally Fit, a personal training and wellness center in Chicago, and now spends part of his week in Washington at Mr. Obama’s request.

Is it necessary to fly in a personal trainer from halfway across the country for the President and his wife to sweat?  In order for the First Family to pump iron, they are also pumping carbon into the environment.  What kind of example is this setting?

Speaking of setting examples, President Obama has recognized the economic problems that seem to be bogging down the country as well as his approval ratings. During his recent State of the Union address, he said:

We have to confront the fact that our government spends more than it takes in. That is not sustainable. Every day, families sacrifice to live within their means. They deserve a government that does the same.

Most, if not all of us agree with that statement, but just because the President proclaims that America deserves a government that does not spend more than it takes in, does not mean that America will get such a government.  It would help if the man making the statement would lead by example.

DC has a 9.6% unemployment rate, over a half-point higher than the national average.  The District is also home to several prominent pro sports franchises that employ some of the most accomplished sports training professionals in the country.

I do not begrudge the President or his family trying to live well.  However, when you and I are footing the bill, and in very difficult economic times, there is an expectation of frugality.

We have all read about the fifty-five plus rounds of golf played by the President in his first two years in office (more golf than the often maligned duffer George Bush played over eight years). And recently Michelle Obama and her two daughters flew to Vail for a ski weekend.

By the way, last year there was a family ski trip, but it did not require a cross-country plane flight.  Michelle and the girls bunked at Camp David and made use of a nearby Pennsylvania ski resort.

Presidents are expected to live fairly well, but also must be mindful of how they are viewed as they are spending what remains of the people’s money.

    I have never seen such a rude obnoxious family in my whole life! Flying all over the place and now flying in a personal trainer!! The jerks freeload in the White House, drink and party like there are no tomorrows and take trips all over the world ON OUR DIME! No one has shown such disrespect for a country and the people as this so called president and family has.

    Does anything Obama does surprise anyone? This guy has taken at least 12 vacations, played more golf in 2 yrs than George Bush did in 8 yrs. In these troubled time, wouldnt you think that he and his wife and kids would stay home and stop paying for trips at taxpayer expense? Thank God we have lesss than 2 more years to put up with him.

      I think you are all right to be upset. In fact, I believe no one should fly anywhere anymore, because we should all stay home and spend money in our home towns. Of course, then all the airlines would go out of business, but we don’t really need them, do we?

      Furthermore, next time you think about going on vacation, stop. It is a waste of your money, and frankly you just don’t deserve it. You can travel when you retire, but right now, you need to be working your fingers to the bone 24/7.

      I think unicorns are cool. I used to like lollipops but unicorns are not as sticky. You can bring your unicorn with you wherever you go and most people will not mind. They will generally come up and pet the unicorn and it is a great ice-breaker, bringing your unicorn to a party. Of course you do have to watch that horn, it is probably not advisable to stop in front of your unicorn to tie your shoe! Feeding unicorns can be tricky too. If you go to your local PetSmart you will probably find unicorn chow on the aisle, but be warned that it does not contain all the magic fairy dust that unicorns need to fully develop that shiny coat.

      How much more of this does the American people have to stand for. If only the Republicans would do the job we sent them to Washington to do. So far, there have been no congressional hearings on the Czars, no accountability to who REALLY caused the banking crisis ie, Frank, Pelosi, etc., no hearings into the communist agendas being taught in the public school systems, and the list goes on and on.

      They didn’t mention what Obama was getting trained on.

      Nowhere in that article does it say Obama is using personal funds to pay for these flights. Saying it’s personal money or taxpayer money are both equally uneducated guesses. But claiming the article states it’s personal money is outright lying.

      Even if Obama is paying for this it says every thing there is to know about him. He has an Aunt on public assistance in Boston that we in MA pay for. He makes several million each year from his book sales and salary and he can’t help out his own aunt and yet he will pay for personal trainers from across the country. He LOVES redistribution of wealth as long as it is not his wealth redistributed. HYPOCRITE. All you people that blindly follow him regardless of what he does explain that one to me. He does not even take care of his own family but has no problem putting them on the taxpayers backs. I would Iove to hear a liberal defend that!!!

      This is really at NON PROBATE ASSET. I don‘t respond often to these posts as they really just don’t get to me, but this one did. Satire aside, your typical progressive excuse for all bad behavior done by this President makes my head want to explode. There is no excuse for flying a personal trainer to be flown once a week to the White House. Anyone who believed in the tripe of Global Warming would be against that alone just for the environment, expense to the taxpayers aside who should be fuming at just the cost. Thus, this man doesn’t really believe in Global warming, or does Gore with his jet-lifestyle, so they start the conversation as proven liars. Hopefully we can get this lying train-wreck out of office in two years and limit the damage he has to be intentionally doing at this point, as he obviously doesn’t even believe his own diatribes on global warming. An utter and complete fraud of a man. As far as the airlines, they already went out of business, that’s why the taxpayers had to bail them out. As far as vacations, the Obama’s have gone on more vacation in two years than I will in my life. I understand the President is never really on vacation, but at least the POTUS could TRY to limit the expense on the US taxpayer. I’m just waiting for the “let them eat cake” moment at this point from anyone connected to this Administration. Oh, that’s right, cake is illegal unless you are an Obama.
