Newt Gingrich clinched a major endorsement from the New Hampshire Union Leader on Sunday. (AP)
Republican presidential contender Newt Gingrich clinched the endorsement of the influential New Hampshire Union Leader Sunday, a significant boost for the former House Speaker’s surging campaign.
“We are in critical need of the innovative, forward-looking strategy and positive leadership that Gingrich has shown he is capable of providing,” the state’s largest newspaper said in its front-page editorial.
“A lot of candidates say they’re going to improve Washington,” it said. “Newt Gingrich has actually done that, and in this race he offers the best shot of doing it again.”
Gingrich came in second place in a recent poll of likely New Hampshire Republican voters, garnering 15 percent support to former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney’s first-place 42 percent.
The same poll placed Texas Rep. Ron Paul in third place with 12 percent and former Utah Gov. John Huntsman at 8 percent.
According to the Associated Press, with six weeks to go until the primary, the Union Leader’s endorsement could prove significant with its “conservative editorial stance that proudly works to influence elections, from school boards to the White House, in the politically savvy state.” The paper endorsed eventual GOP nominee Sen. John McCain in 2008, prior to his win in the state, though backed Steve Forbes in 2000 and Pat Buchanan in 1992.
“We don’t have to agree with them on every issue,” the editorial said. “We would rather back someone with whom we may sometimes disagree than one who tells us what he thinks we want to hear.”
The newspaper’s endorsement could be considered a setback for Romney, who despite frontrunner status has failed to capture widespread conservative support among the GOP base. According to the AP, Romney has lobbied for the paper’s support, including having dinner with its publisher earlier this year.
According to NBC, the Gingrich campaign said they were “honored to have the endorsement” and called it “an enormous boost to our campaign.”

And he’s right. You spend an awful lot of time being wrong. Hell even the article tells the story of how even the right wings progressotards view Gingrich.
“We are in critical need of the innovative, “FORWARD-LOOKING” strategy and positive leadership that Gingrich has shown he is capable of providing,” the state’s largest newspaper said in its front-page editorial.
Forward looking is the word ALL progressives use to define themselves. It’s been preconditioned since Joe McCarthy to hide their Marxist beliefs.

Not perfect by a long shot, but listen to him in the debates- This guy is the one who can out-debate Obama, and that is what it will come down to. He makes a lot of sense when he talks and people are starting to listen. Obama has a one billion dollar war-chest waiting to unleash on whoever becomes the opponent. I am sure research crews have a tear-down campaign ready to unleash for each of the contenders and it will only be a matter which book they open up once the choice is made. I am sure the “Book of Newt” is a big one, but it doesn’t matter. It will be a slander and destruction of character no matter who we choose. Might as well select the one that thinks fastest on his feet. Newt would still be a magnitude better then Obama in office.

I think you will find that Ron Paul doesn`t want them to have a nuke either. If you look more closely at the context of what he is saying you will see that he is trying to educate you with 30 second to 60 second responses. The idea is that you need to look at the big picture with history and the future as a backdrop.
The war mongers want you to fear so that they can take you to war and gain greater power over you.
Think about the current nuke situation with Russia and China essentially backing up Iran.
Think about how Bin Ladin said that he would destroy the economy of the US by dragging the US into all sorts of wars and that the neocons wouldn`t be able to resist.
The only way we will be truely safe is if we wipe every person off the face of the earth. Therefore we should do only what is right and have faith instead of fear. The right thing to do is to mind our own business, stop preemptive wars, and trade and have diplomatic relations with all the countries. If anyone dares raise a hand against the US then strike swiftly and then get out. Creating economic superiority will also do much to make the US safer.

China and Russia are helping Iran get nukes. Iran will have nukes eventually — one year — five years — ten years — it doesn’t matter. We have to live in a world where Iran (and other countries) will have nukes. Romney, nor any other president can’t prevent Iran from having nukes unless they want to go to war with Russia and China as well.

It was America’s intervention into Israel’s business that caused them to give back the land they fought for! Ron Paul does not support that type of ‘intervention’ because he knows doing so only makes matters worse — history has taught us that much – over and over again.
If you truly support Israel – don’t vote for anyone that supports funding their enemies.
Ron would support a ‘declared’ war on Iran if that time comes.. He would ensure the war could be won — Get in..kick butt.. get out! All others would keep our troops there for years – which DOES NOT work. Haven’t we figured that out already!

Instead of in a designated empowerment zone, it being 9-9-9, it could be, as an example only, 3-3-3.
What this does, because you have a lot of African-Americans located in cities like Detroit, disproportionately, it would encourage businesses to stay in business there or to move there. I don’t care who donates to Dr. Paul’s campaign – as long as he stays true to the Constitution!
Is legalizing pot your biggest worry…really? You think keeping it illegal stops anyone? Get a clue. More people are hooked on (and dying from) legal drugs than illegal drugs… but that’s OK, because the government makes $$ from those drugs.. Geezzeee.
No wonder this country is in such a mess. Grow up, take personal responsibility, and stop looking for big government to chase away all the scary monsters under your bed.

Report Post »YepImaConservative
Posted on November 27, 2011 at 4:15pmSorry Galt… Paul IS an “isolationist.” He’s for withdrawing all our Military forces back to Fortress America and leaving the rest of the world’s nations allies and enemies alike… to fight it out among themselves whatever the reason… even if it has, or will have an impact on us and our national security down the road. The best defense is a good and proper offense IMO.
You brought up Ronald Reagan. Reagan for instance fought Soviet influence in Central America everywhere he could and with whomever he could find it with. Reagan exploited every opportunity to weaken the Soviet Union in Europe. He worked with the Vatican in Poland. He deployed Pershing short-range nuclear warheads in Western Europe. He called the Soviet Union an evil empire. He began developing the Strategic Defense Initiative. And he walked away from an arms control agreement when he decided it was a bad deal for the U.S. Reagan would probably understand that supporting elections that are likely to bring a terrororist group like Hamas or Hezbollah into power is not an American interest. Reagan would also understand that toppling a pro-American dictator like Mubarak in favor of the mob we see now is not sound policy and that move is likely to bring an anti-American authoritarian successor regime to power. I think Reagan would be very nervous at what we are witnessing today in Egypt and Syria both.
Ron Paul would have his head isolated in his rectum searching for gold nuggets.

Posted on November 27, 2011 at 5:48pmYippe.. I think Ron Paul would agree with most of Reagan’s moves. You‘re wrong in thinking Ron Paul would not kick butt when ’necessary’.
There is a HUGE difference is defending our national security and defending oil assets (which don’t belong to us). We certainly don’t need 900 military bases around the world to protect our country.. Is there any wonder others see us as ‘occupiers’ and want to take us down.
We must drill our own oil and stop using the excuse of oil dependency for our war games. And by the way…we can’t drill here until we stop allowing the EPA to call all of the shots. Ron Paul is the only one willing to take them on.
Our recent ‘illegal’ wars are all about the oil… not about our safety – don’t let them fool you with the scare tactics! There have always been terrorists.. there will ALWAYS be terrorists. You can’t kill everyone that hates us… we’d better figure out a better way.
Why do you think Ron Paul gets 3-times as many donations from military personnel than all other candidates combined? Maybe they’re on to something… you think?
Report Post »YepImaConservative

I‘ll say this before and I’ll say it again… Military donation numbers have been easily skewed by overzealous Paul supporters. Give a Paul supporter the internet, a piggie bank, a question as to “occupation” …information which does not have to be verified under $200.00.
Did you know that Ron Paul won the VVS polls, Straw polls, online polls, TV Presidential polls and debate polls? He77, he should be leading evvvvverywhere huh? Lmao!!

Posted on November 27, 2011 at 10:54amYes – I read your comments on Congree raising the sales tax a whim but there are 3 major factors you are overlooking:
1) The budget will get back in balance quicker when we start cutting and this economy gets in overdrive with a national sales tax and EVERY business in the world does business here with a 9 and then 0% income tax. When the budget is balanced and taxes coming into the coffers to cover everything and then some – Congress will have no need to raise the sales tax.
2) Every single PERSON in this country would be PISSED if they tried to raise the sales tax because it affects ALL. Right now – 47% of citizens pay NOTHING so of course they will not pressure law makers – as matter of fact they could care less because the rich pay most of the taxes. Also illegals could care less because they PAD NOTHING now and suck up our resources. When a sales tax is in place – NOW NO ONE CAN LOBBY AGAINST ANY CLASS BECAUSE WE ALL PAY!
3) The President can veto any raise if it ever got to his desk

“Gingrich Made Big Bucks Pushing Corporate Welfare
Timothy P. Carney Senior Political Columnist
November 16, 2011 at4:58pm
Newt Gingrich spent the last decade being paid by big business to convince conservatives to support big-government policies that would profit his clients.
Gingrich’s consulting firm racked up $1.6 million in fees from the government-sponsored enterprise Freddie Mac, we learned this week from Bloomberg News. Gingrich’s job was to help Freddie Mac win over conservatives to this market-distorting, bubble-fueling, housing-subsidy entity, which is now officially owned by the federal government.
We also know that Growth Energy, an ethanol lobby, paid $312,500 to the Gingrich Group in 2009, according to the group’s tax filing. Growth Energy lobbies to preserve many ethanol subsidies and create new ones. Gingrich has consistently supported ethanol subsidies, despite his professed allegiance to the free market.”

Yeah, right!:
“Gingrich has been openly contemptuous of American sovereignty when it comes to trade. He said, in testimony before the House Ways and Means Committee in June 1994, “I am just saying that we need to be honest about the fact that we are transferring from the United States at a practical level significant authority to a new organization. This is a transformational moment. I would feel better if the people who favor this would just be honest about the scale of change.”
“This is very close to Maastricht [a key European Union treaty], and twenty years from now we will look back on this as a very important defining moment. This is not just another trade agreement. This is adopting something which twice, once in the 1940s and once in the 1950s, the U.S. Congress rejected. I am not even saying we should reject it; I, in fact, lean toward it.”
