Group Offers Scholarships for New Texas Minority Group: White Males

In the end, it’s a scholarship for a minority group in Texas.
It may be hard to believe, but whites are currently not the overwhelming majority in the Lone Star state: 42 percent of the population are white, non-Hispanics (down from over 50 percent 10 years ago). So Colby Bohannon, an Iraq War veteran, decided to create a new scholarship for white males, remembering how hard it was for him to get a scholarship when he was looking for one:

The scholarship is being offered by “The Former Majority Association for Equality”.
Colby Bohannon, the president of FMAE, started the group after he had a hard-time securing a scholarship for himself.
The group claims it‘s not racially motivated and doesn’t have an agenda to promote racial bigotry or segregation.
Applicants must be a man, at least a quarter caucasian, have a proven commitment to education and financial need.
“Our organization will have nothing to do with any organization that promotes bigotry, supremacy or discrimination,” said Bohannon.
Bohannon started the group with some friends. They plan to to begin handing out $500 scholarships this summer for fall semester. Qualified students must be white males with at least a 3.0 grade point average, according the group’s website.
Bohannon knows he will face criticism. “We know that we’re going to be receiving some vicious attacks from people claiming that we are racists or promoting some bigotry-filled agenda,” he told Reuters.
But in the end, his goal is to level the playing field as his state’s demographics change.
“I believe in equality for everyone, as well as being a strong believer that everyone should have an opportunity to attend college no matter who they are or where they come from,” Calysta Spence, FMAE’s fundraising coordinator, told The University Star.

So I can see nothing wrong with this and its simply a symptom of our times but its not a disease.

It was a nightmare. If he had been Black or Latino there would have been many grants( non repayable) for him to get to college. The only thing that my son had access to was loans( highly repayable and with 8% interest). I was making the grand sum of $17,000 year losing about 1/3 to taxes, paying a mortgage that took nearly 1/3 of the net, and they still wanted me to pay $2,000 for the balance of what they wouldn’t pay. Needless to say, my son didn’t get to go to college while some ghetto brat who could barely read or write got in —in many cases because he could throw a football, tackle a dummy, ( living or otherwise), shoot a basket or because he could complete a color scheme that the left insisted upon and idiot administrators allowed themselves to get blackmailed into to get the government funds. Whenever I hear these professional poor and and professional victims whining about how entitled and hard done by they are,I have two basic reactions–I either want to smack the crap out of them or I just walk away angrier that I already am. For years I lost substantially from my paycheck to pay for someone else’s family–when I needed help, there was none. Don’t talk to me about ancient history in trying to rationalize this gimmee, gimmee, gimmee for the racial special interests. I no longer want to hear your bi**hing.

It causes many students to give up because they see minorities come to college with everything paid and then watch them goof off, take courses that will never be useful in life…just get to the end is all they want… (there are exceptions) The whole education subject is frustrating… we should support Michelle Rhee with StudentsFirst.org.

Posted on March 1, 2011 at 9:17amIt is ABOUT time…….I just put my daughter through college…little white girl…..who despite 4.0 GPA and all around great kid – wasn’t a minority and so got virtually next to nothing in scholarships and aid. Believe me it was not for lack of trying – over 100 scholarship/grant apps submitted. Guess who got all the money – not her – she was white. We were actually told that on many occasions. Let’s talk about the Black Student unions….Whites were not allowed to have a white student union….don’t even get me started. This does not….by any stretch of the imagination mean that I am racist (of course some of you may say different because of small brain syndrome). It is painful to see my daughter graduate with her Masters (with HONORS) and now strapped with 150K in student loans. Unfortunately being a single mom…I was only able to pay for 1.5 years…the rest was on her. It is about time that this system starts giving something to white kids. Quite frankly – if I had it my way – there would not be any financial rewards to ANY minority….it should be based SOLELY on academic achievement. If that were the case….my daughter would not suffer knowing that for the next 25 years…she will be paying $920.00 MONTHLY~!!! Very sad.

A friends son applied at a law school nearby here; he had a good LSAT as well as undergrad GPA but was not allowed in….due to the quotas that they had for any minority. My freind was fit to be tied but he later found out that he was actaully 1/8 Indian…so low and behold HIS SON GETS ACCEPTED…..NOT BASED ON MERIT BUT SIMPLY RACE!.
The philosophical question that I have had for years is…..How deaply has the reduction in standards due to racist quotas hurt each and every sector of our country???

It is true though, it is getting very difficult for white people to get scholarships. If you’re white you are automatically disqualified from the majority of scholarships. I believe in equal rights for everyone. Scholarships should be based on academic performance only.

I don’t have a problem with what this gentleman is doing with this scholarship idea. Scholarship money can go to whatever group or inidividual you wish it to, and if he wants to give it to people of Anglo/European descent, more power to him.

As a While male business man I find it very difficult in getting business from the large fortune companies as I do not have the “minority status” that all the companies seek due to Government mandates to do business with minorities.
To start with we should not be mentioning that people will find this offensive. It is not offensive as it does the same thing as the current other programs seek to promote.
Time to just not give a dam anymore to what other say and think. If anyone other than them are getting any help is will always be claimed as unfair so I say to dam bad!

First, it is a large immediately government dependent group that will vote for the politicians holding up the entitlement programs.
