GSA Official Breaks Into a Literal Run to Escape Reporters After Pleading the Fifth During Hearing

Jeffrey Neely, a GSA official who allegedly helped spend hundreds of thousands of taxpayer dollars on a lavish “training conference” in Las Vegas in 2010, was caught by Fox cameras literally running away from reporters after leaving his hearing Monday.
To each of the questions he was asked by a reporter, Neely responded “no comment,” which, Business Insider notes, is almost identical to how he responded to questions during the trial.
To each of Rep. Darrell Issa’s inquiries, Neely reportedly said: “On the advice of counsel, I respectfully decline to answer based upon my fifth amendment constitutional privilege.”
Finally, Issa remarked that he was “uniquely positioned to help the committee understand,” and, “To that end I must consider again to ask you to answer the questions.”
Neely declined, continuing to plead the fifth.
It hasn’t been a great day for Neely, as photos of him sipping what appears to be wine in a luxurious “spa bathtub” at the training conference were leaked, coinciding with the trial.

Posted on April 17, 2012 at 9:01amGovernment employee should not have 5th amendment right when the questioning is about government agencies that are under their leadership. The 5th amendment is design to protect the privates citizen from being force to self incriminate by the government. Not to protect the government from self incriminating to the people.
Further more it courts can just imply since this POS won’t answer question that whatever he refuses to respond to is an admission of guilt.
This is yet another example of why the new revolution is necessary.

Posted on April 16, 2012 at 9:37pmYou’re right Dadsrootbeer, but with each new revelation of incompetency of Government, we never hear our own Senators and Congressmen take any action to REDUCE this monstrosity. For example, the GSA has over 12,000 employees. Why aren’t our representatives currently in the process of reducing the funds allotted to this agency by half? Why aren’t they looking to close down the Dept of Education and other such useless agencies or at least to de-fund them completely?
Hearings are a game, meant to distract us. We already know the problem! Too much government. Let’s vote them all out until we get some who will start the process.
I initially appreciated a lot of the freshman class in congress, but I don’t see any of them proposing any of these things; sadly they too seem to be getting caught up in the minutia.
May I suggest that on Wednesday, Nov 7th, 2012, the day after the Republican candidate wins the Presidential Election, that any elected Congressman or Senator who is truly for smaller government, announce their intention to initiate the beginnings of a third party, effective February 1, 2012, unless the new President immediately blah blah blah and that their Party begin certain things, all with the intent to drastically reduce government?

Posted on April 17, 2012 at 6:16amAsuming a Repub does win the WH in Nov….then what? Smaller gov. will only come from extreme pressure exerted on Congressmen and Senators to eliminate, say, the DOE, EPA, etc, etc. Also, we need to end involvement in the UN and smash the its “small arms ban” initiative. Hillary has agreed in principle with this overstepping of our Constitutional right “to keep and bear”. This is treasonous on her part.

You are allowing ‘mob rule’ in America. That is what “democracy” is, my friends. Mob rule (democracy) is derived from a greek word.

I like all your points. The 3rd party sounds interesting but I don’t think it is necessary because voters/taxpayers are having REAL conversations and the democrat party is 95% liberal & the republicans are a mixed bag of “what day it is” & speak the language of free-market so they can get re-elected. The republicans are not finished..they are being REMINDED the “little-people-are-watching“ and ”you better do right by us”. If the country votes for Pres.Obama & his policies, well we are done for as a nation of the people & for the people. End of story.

If we were to get serious about stopping corruption in our government and crime with our citizens this is how to do it. Cruel and unusual punishment, maybe a bit, but the $hiot would stop! Dont want the punishment, dont do the crime. We treat criminals like little pampered babies these days. It is the fault of our society that we are in the mess our country is in. What I see is a hugh pattern of waste and abouse of taxpayer money while he makes his stupid, idiotic comments about “the rich and wealthy”! I’m tired of being lied to it seems almost daily by Obama and his idiots serving in his administration! Wake up America and realize why our debt has ballooned under the Obama administration and it has little to do with the Bush years—IT IS OBAMA’S DISASTER AND NO ONE ELSES! Posted on April 16, 2012 at 7:02pmAfter hearing this on the 6 o’clock news in conjunction with the Secret Service prostitution scandal I was reminded of a lecture I sat through in NCO Leadership Academy many years ago. The lecture dealt with how leadership sets the tone for an entire organization. When the leader of the government has done nothing but blame others for his failings how would it not be expected that style of leadership not permeate the entire organization? The question is just how deeply ingrained has this become and how long will it take to correct the problem? Is RINO Romney up to the job?
