Question: Who shows up to a closed-door meeting of power house Democratic supporters and donors?
Answer: Among others, Richard Trumka of the AFL-CIO, Van Jones, and George Soros representative Michael Vachon.
According to Politico, some of the most infamous Democratic backers held a private meeting on Tuesday to discuss strategy in light of runaway GOP victories this fall. The meeting, held at the posh Mandarin Oriental hotel, was organized by the Democracy Alliance, a wealthy liberal group with the goal of building a “progressive infrastructure that could help counter the well-funded and sophisticated conservative apparatus in the areas of civic engagement, leadership, media, and ideas.”
Another question: Who is the treasurer of the Democracy Alliance?
Answer: Former Tides Foundation CEO Drummond Pike.
Organizers worked hard to keep the meeting’s discussions secret. Off-duty police officers and other security personnel patrolled the halls looking for reporters and other uninvited guests, and promptly escorted them away. But that didn’t keep “sources” from talking to Politico.
“The conference itself featured mostly big picture analyses of the midterm elections and their predicted impact on the donors’ favored policy causes, rather than strategic planning for the 2012 elections,” Politico reports.
But such a meeting would not be complete without discussions of money:
But the source said some donors on the sidelines of the conference discussed whether they should try to match the GOP’s outside advertising effort in 2012, and, if so, how to balance that giving with their support for the groups recommended by Democracy Alliance, which focus largely on shaping policy and the media, as well as mobilizing voters around issues.
With that in mind, who else showed up?
There was Erik Smith:
Democratic operatives with experience in advertising campaigns, including Erik Smith, a Democratic operative who worked for the Media Fund in 2004, could be seen mingling with attendees. That group and a linked organization called America Coming Together raised a combined $139 million, much of it from donors now involved in Democracy Alliance, such as Soros, to air ads boosting Sen. John Kerry’s unsuccessful Democratic challenge to George W. Bush’s reelection.
Smith – who is also executive director of a group called Common Purpose Project, which has received Democracy Alliance support in the past – declined to comment. But another operative who planned to attend the conference told POLITICO that the donors who funded the anti-Bush efforts “told us in 2004 that we couldn’t come to them every two years and ask them for $10 to $20 million.”
Among the organizations represented at this week’s conference were the watchdog group Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, the centrist NDN think tank, Campaign for America’s Future, Campaign for Community Change, Advancement Project, Brave New Films, State Voices, and union-related groups that work to mobilize liberal voters, including Working America, Progressive Majority and America Votes.
Businessmen:
Among the donors spotted at the conference on Tuesday, the second day of the three-day gathering, were former Stride Rite chairman Arnold Hiatt, hedge fund financier Donald Sussman, electronics pioneer Bill Budinger, real estate developer Wayne Jordan and Suzanne Hess, the wife of real estate mogul Lawrence Hess.
And even a former Clinton operative:
Other attendees who are influential in liberal politics and policy also milled about Tuesday, including Fitz-Gerald, president of the influential political organizing group America Votes; Robert Borosage, co-director of the Campaign for America’s Future; Ellen Dorsey, executive director of the Wallace Global Fund; Matt Ewing, director of a Democracy Alliance-funded project that invests in early stage new media organizations; Philip Dufour, a Washington event planner; Eric Liu, a former speechwriter and deputy domestic policy adviser to former President Bill Clinton; fundraiser Lisa Versaci and radio host Thom Hartman.
So how exactly did Politico obtain all of this information? Sources, as mentioned before, but also first-hand reporting: its writer snuck in before being kicked out by security.

Only this time, more people (including myself), should get off the sidelines…cheering the Tea Partiers from afar and get in the streets along with the Tea Partiers. I realize that it is tougher for hard -working achievers that have jobs and responsibility to find the time to organize, but think of the numbers we could bring to the argument.
Report Post »Along those same lines, why do we always vote on Tuesdays (a work day)? Why can’t that be changed to Saturday or Sunday so working families could vote more easily? Do you see how the progressives…er…democrats can get out the non-achieving vote more easily than we can on a work day? Can you see how this is by design? Perhaps having this changed should also enter into the conservative argument.

We really don’t need all that much money to beat them. We have the truth and actual history on our side (not to mention God who some of us believe is our greatest asset). We just need to ratchet up our “GET OUT THE VOTE” grass root activity. It’s VOTES that will determine the outcome along with a system to defeat vote fraud.
We ALL must get off our couches and get out and see and talk to our fellow citizens at every opportunity using facts and common sense to “reeducate” them to the TRUTH!
Talk to your family, friends, acquaintances, business associates, etc. and ENGAGE them in the debate. Then use facts and common sense to get THEM to question the issues.
Need ammo? Read, read and read some more.
Not necessarily to push Glenn’s books but two of the first you should read to “sharpen” your knowledge and give you direction is “Arguing with Idiots” and “Broke”.

They were defeated big time. Their tentacles are far reaching, yet they failed at the polls. Interesting group of evil characters. Remember their connections. Recall that they want to manipulate the Homer Simpsons. We aren’t Homer Simpsons. They completely misjudged us didn’t they? We have unity now and numbers, which they didn’t count on or foresee. They underestimated the American people. We don’t want their One World Order, or their progressive/socialist/communist/marxist agenda in America, and we let them know it. How they try to manipulate us again will be interesting. Watch for their deception and their misinformation, etc.

No we do not give up. We need to organize in large and small groups and keep focused on the one point in common – We The People of America. Its like with Soros and his empire, almost everyone has been wondering how we can stop this dude, and then it hit me, we need to start hitting him in the pocket book. Organize boycots of the stores and places he owns, and with the Progressives groups keep finding out the hidden secrets and bring them out into the open.
The other part we need to do is start a nationwide Prayer Crusade. Each and everyone of us I would ask is find one or more additional person to each night or morning pray for the nation and for the constitution to be restored, and for our land to return to the Almighty.
The Prayer Crusade; united with God as one nation, we can heal and reclaim our land with his grace and guidance.

3. British Informal . to tattle; inform.
Mary M. Tebbe
Posted on November 17, 2010 at 3:18pmrita: You’re fine. We knew what you really meant. :)
snowleopard3200: Your Prayer Crusade is a wonderful idea. That is very Scriptural. God said that if His People (and that would include The United States of America) would humble themselves and pray and seek His face, then He would hear from heaven, forgive our sins, and HEAL OUR LAND.
Report Post »It’s very simple really…include God in our lives and put Him first, and EVERYTHING ELSE WILL FALL INTO PLACE for us.
Together we can make a difference. There is UNITY in numbers. Satan and his worshipers HATE unity, because satan knows the impact it would have, yet when it comes to satan’s One World Order he wants to unite the people so that he and his worshipers can control them. Recall that Glenn told us the story of the tower of Babel yesterday. The people of the area spoke one language and were working together to build a city and a tower to make a name for themselves so that they would not have to scatter over the face of the whole earth as God had told them to do. So…what did God do?
Verses 5 – 9 of Genesis 11 tells us. We read, But the Lord came down to see the city and the tower that the men were building. The Lord said, If as ONE PEOPLE SPEAKING THE SAME LANGUAGE they have begun to do this, THEN NOTHING THEY PLAN TO DO WILL BE IMPOSSIBLE FOR THEM. Come, let us go down and confuse their language so they will not understand each other. So the Lord scattered them from there OVER ALL THE EARTH, and they stopped building the city. That is why it was called Babel – because there the Lord confused the language of the whole world. From there the Lord scattered them over the face of the WHOLE EARTH.
There is UNITY in numbers. Our unity would not be used to disobey God, but rather, TO SAVE OUR COUNTRY, and to trust God to help us. The reason that God wanted the people to spread out was so that they would inhabit the entire earth, but the people of that area in Babylon wanted to stay together and refused to obey God and move out from there. The people in Babylon did not worship God; they worshiped satan. They built their temples in seven tiers because they believed that their heaven was in seven layers (they did not have a heavenly perspective where God is, but rather, they had a worldly perspective because they worshiped the earth and from their seven layers that was the world that they could see), and at the top they placed their temple where they worshiped satan and their false gods and false goddesses. Their temples were called ziggurats. From this place when the people moved out into the world, they took with them these false gods and false goddesses to worship and built ziggurats in many different parts of the world. God gave them different languages to force them to move out and inhabit the earth, and they took their old evil ways with them.

Posted on November 17, 2010 at 3:20pmGreat point as they have had their playbook written for years and have just waited patiently for the opportunity to catch everyone asleep (did that). Shaping policy and media, I bet that won’t cost much money since the media has been kissing a _ _ for quite some time now and simply waits to be told who, what, when, where and why. We are awake now.

The GOP met at a rural retreat to similarly lick their wounds and plot a new course, with many right-wing activists in attendance (see http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2008/oct/29/uselections2008-republicans). There is no difference in substance between what the GOP did in ‘08 and what the Dems are doing now. Also, the GOP even now is setting up not-widely-publicized meetings with their activists who admit to “labelling” OBama and Democrats as far-left socialists. There is no difference in the behavior of Perkins, Bozell and others versus Vachon, Jones or Trumpka. All of this innuendo and gossip is foolish. Stick to the facts rather than playing guilt-by-association or implying that only one side holds secret meetings with wealthy donors or politically active party operators. You look hypocritical, partisan and stupid when you post such nonsense. Parties are very large organizations and elections are very expensive. It should come as no surprise that both sides organize in a variety of ways to win elections and maintain power. Only fools believe one side is 100% and the other side is 100% evil, especially when the factual data shows that they operate in virtually the same way.
