Former CIA counterterrorism analyst Michael Scheuer isn’t afraid to tell it like it is. He’s a regular Fox News guest, but yesterday wandered over to the airwaves of CNN. I‘m not sure he’ll be back after this.
Scheuer got in a kind-of-heated discussion with host Christine Romans about Scheuer’s assertion that in this time of fiscal strain, it’s unwise to be spending money on another international intervention. Romans thought it was asinine to connect the two. Scheuer thought it was asinine not to. He then took a jab at her. She didn’t like it:

Posted on April 1, 2011 at 12:07pmCNN is a joke. The girls, ah, excuse me, I mean….the women JOURNALISTS (just love that word, dripping as it does with pretense and self-importance) who interview Michael Scheurer think they’re so damn slick. Although I found his remark to be a bullseye, linking cost worries to the operation, he could have gone a little easier on the babes. But then, that’s just me…….THEY HAD IT COMING!

Posted on April 1, 2011 at 12:04pmLike Glen said “The truth has no agenda”. You cannot paint a picture without some colors. I liked the comment where Mr Scheuer tried to explain to the hosts that it does not matter what we think, it matters what the Islamic Extremists think. A very clear observation of the actual facts of the situation instead of a spin and lie on it.

P.S. I quit watching CNN, MSNBC et al years ago because even I, a non-Ivy League intellectual could tell propaganda and bias when I heard or read it. The fact is that there are evil regimes who thrive over spreading hate about America and unless you take down these regimes, you can’t cure the cancer. No amount of love, peace or “can’t we just all get along?” hope will change this situation. Couple this fact with the inherent flaw that all libs have, their belief that somehow their miniscule education makes them all knowing, and it’s easy to see how stupid these left wing imbeciles really are. Posted on April 1, 2011 at 5:28pmChristine Romans hardly carries water for the Obama administration. She has criticized the administration on a number of economic issues, but Scheuer cannot be expected to know this.
He speaks his mind and is not afraid to make controversial statements. And he offends both the left and the right with these comments. Example: he ticked off the blindly-pro-Israel folks on Fox News when he said that the US should not be aiding that Jewish state at all. Example: he ticked off Jamie Rubin when he criticized his boss, Sec’y of State Clinton, for making an inflammatory speech against China while in Vietnam. I guess that is proof of an independent thinker, that he offends both the loyally right and the reliably left. And I am coming around to his view on Libya…

Posted on April 1, 2011 at 5:33pmWhat a riot. Scheuer is great. It is hard for a very ideological host to hear criticism from a completely un-ideological guest. Hell, he went out of his way to point the fingers at Republicans and McCain too.
Was thinking about a fact which has not been talked about, as far as I have seen, regarding Iraq, Afghanistan and now Lybia. There has been all of this anit-Bush chatter from the left, from the time Obuma got into office until the present, regarding the huge budget deficits and “unpaid for wars” which were run up during the Bush era on the two wars. It is a mantra for the little twerps, for gods sake, or as Shumer says, “the caucus has instructed them to use that language”. Having such enthusiastic views along those lines, it is quite typical of them that they not only have not made the appropriate cuts in the budget to pay for the last 2 years of Iraq and Afghan, but now that they have gone into Lybia, they have not made any efforts or started any dialogues to make the necessary cuts in the budget to pay for this new endeavor in Lybia either.

Posted on April 1, 2011 at 5:40pmSBISH, you don’t watch CNN much. Christine Romans is the business reporter. She is actually very centrist and hardly ideological at all. You clearly don’t know her and judge her based upon a single interraction. For Scheuer to call Rice “crazed” is an extreme comment, which she rightfully noted. She did not object to the substance of what he was saying, nor did Chetry. Contrast that with Hannity, who has called people liars on his show for making factually accurate statements that run contrary to his conservative narrative.
I like Scheuer, but there are many conservatives here who would be surprised to see what kind of treatment he has received on Fox for stating that the US should not support Israel. It has made the interchange with Romans and Chetry look rather tame.

Guilty as charged. I don’t watch CNN much except for when I am having one of my episodes of inosmnia. I just find their coverage as boring as can be. Watching Wolf, Anderson etc… reminds me of 10 grade social studies. zzzz I respect them as journalist, and think they are not ideological, but just damn boring. Anderson, in particular, loves to dwell forever on stories, spending far too much time delving into every nook and cranny of the topic, lots of times much farther down the hole than I am interested in going. During the oil spill in the gulf, his three part series on tar balls was facinating. Greta can be guilty of the same thing. The Natalie Holloway story got a lot more time on Greta than anybody else gave it. Not that it wasn’t a sad story, but to devote 1/3-100% of the show nightly for a year on the tragedy was excessive, IMO.
Regarding the lady, perhaps she isn’t a hard lefty, but considering I don’t watch CNN much, I was basing my opinion on the fact that she stated going into Lybia and the deficit/debt situation were unrelated. That seems to me to be a head-buried-in- the-sand comment from a typical lefty. At the tune of 55 million a day on just the missles, I’d say they are quite related, no?
Regarding Amabassador Rice, I don’t know what in particular Scheuer was referring to, but perhaps that is strong language to discribe her. If only they would have continued the conversation a little longer rather than slamming the door on the interview, they could have investigated that comment further.

Posted on April 1, 2011 at 6:35pmABC, you really are a one-trick pony. Every time you comment, it‘s to accuse conservatives of doing the very things you’re guilty of in the very comment in which you make the accusation.
Report Post »“Christine Romans hardly carries water for the Obama administration” > What she does elsewhere was NOT Scheuer’s point. She was absolutely reiterating the Obama position about separating Libya from budget issues.
“Independent studies have consistently shown that Fox News leans far more to the right than even the most liberal broadcast station leans to the left.” > Name one and let’s talk about its internals.
“Studies of what people know and whether they are factually informed also show a clear tendency for Fox viewers to have their facts wrong.” > No. There’s only one study. and it’s been thoroughly debunked for its obvious and malicious skewing of questions. However, the Pew regularly documents that Limbaugh listeners, for example, have the highest education, and are the most politically informed and engaged among radio listeners.
I‘m sorry you don’t seem to consider pointed and challenging questions to be proper journalistic practice, because that’s what they do on Fox, but I have to disagree: the only good point JZS made was that Scheuer had good points.
Oh, and about executives…Like Turner’s never laid out talking points…

You guys are typical obsessive-compulsive progressives. When you hear a negative interview regarding Hussein’s policy your immediate response is to attack Fox News. You completely missed the point of the debate (boots on the ground in Libya) and the opinion of Michael Scheuer, a highly qualified expert on the subject. It is obvious your bias has cluttered your thought process. CNN/MSNBC does carry the water for Hussein, as you guys do as well.

Report Post »Who cares what the Obama worshipers have to say. When confronted with facts they just get nasty or cut your microphone.
You see the total knee jerk reaction from all the Obama water carriers on this very website. No facts or substance just the regular Fox news is the devil drivel that they spout everyday.
I have had to listen to the left and all of their mindless morons for the last 5 decades.
Not anymore. We have the internet where truth can come forth. At least until they succeed in getting Satanic Law implemented in the US.

1. Fox executives readily admit that O’Reilly, Hannity, Beck, etc. are opinion shows where one side is bashed with regularity (the left-leaning guest) while the other side is repeatedly stated without question; they do not deny that their opinion shows are designed to satisfy the conservative audience of loyal viewers
2. Fox executives have been caught on tape and on email coaching their NEWS people, who are supposed to be fair and balanced, how to spin concepts and stories to make the right wing viewpoint appear to be right and the left wing one to be wrong concerning issue, after issue, after issue. Example: Sammon admits during a cruise ship junket that he was up to “mischief” by claiming that Obama is a Marxist or Socialist when he actually didn’t believe that claim. Other news editors send emails to Bret Baer and others telling them to call global warming a “theory” or preface “health care reform” with “job killing.”
3. Independent studies have consistently shown that Fox News leans far more to the right than even the most liberal broadcast station leans to the left. They also have done studies to show that the number of interruptions by and statements of opinion by journalists on Fox is much greater that what we see on CNN or other mainstream media outlets.
4. Studies of what people know and whether they are factually informed also show a clear tendency for Fox viewers to have their facts wrong. Several studies have come out, one just last year, showing that Fox viewers have the most misconceptions in terms of basic facts around issues of all American consumers of news media.
So it should not surprise anyone to see that the quality of journalism and interviewing occurring on CNN is much better than what we see on Fox. And while the blonde hotties like Megyn Kelly are fun to look at–although Kiran Chetry is also not hard on the eyes–they are really not helping get the truth out but instead maintaining a particular narrative no matter how false it might be in a given instance.

Posted on April 1, 2011 at 9:12pmDid you see it. I’am talking about that thing so dispised lately in our modern day. Yes I am talking about the grey hair in his beard and on his head. Hell thats wisdom and it only comes by experience and time to evaluate lessons learned. These two young women were way out of their league and this world wise man got a little peaved at their ignorance and decided to quit playing politics with them. It is so obvious to older people. But go on and elect the boys to office. We need statesmen. And at any age if they be true of heart.
