Gun Stocks Shoot Through the Roof

Given the increasingly uncertain political and economic climate, it’s no big surprise that people are continuing to buy guns in record numbers. However, at this stage it’s surpassed just an issue of being record numbers. We’d say guns are selling like hotcakes, but there might not be market data showing that hotcakes sell this fast.
24/7 Wall Street, an investment website, has news on the incredible, practically vertical rise of gun stocks over the past few years:
Records were set in annual units produced by Smith & Wesson and on annual cash generated. S&W said that these results are driven by strong sales of M&P polymer pistols and M&P modern sporting rifles.
The S&W earnings report is full of more “record-setting events” by the gun-maker that were just impossible to ignore. The fourth quarter saw a record at $129.8 million and the company posted a record earnings of $17.8 million for its fiscal year with another record of earnings from operations of $17.8 million.
More gains are expected ahead as well with first quarter sales of $125.0 million to $130.0 million. Here is the amazing stat: that is 36% growth. GAAP earnings for the first quarter are put at $0.16 to $0.19 per share versus $0.12 expected. For the year ahead, S&W sees sales from continuing operations of between $485.0 million and $505.0 million or about 17% total. GAAP earnings per share from continuing operations are being targeted between $0.60 and $0.65 for fiscal 2013 versus $0.50 expected.
How rabid is the desire for guns? Three months ago, Ruger Firearms stopped accepting orders for new weapons altogether because they couldn’t keep up with the demand. And if these stock numbers are correct, guns are practically the new gold.

All condome stock was good. Mid 2009 we bought stock in Remington and have done well also. You are half-right. Military men have a different mindset, so don’t expect the average American male to see life like you do, even if we own guns and know how to defend ourselves against street attacks.
Some countries have aborted commie takeovers because they had a strong military. In many cases, it was OUR military that did the dirty work for them or aided them. So why did the best military in the history of mankind do NOTHING when a commie took over the WH? Partly, because our military is trained to protect the sitting govt., since we’ve always had representative government until now. Tragically, it is also because most of the military top brass support him.
Once commies occupy the top seat, it is extremely difficult to remove them. I don’t know of any country that has succeeded without outside help. We have always been the ones to send in the cavalry, so no one is going to help us besides God, and we no longer trust in Him as a nation.
I still believe it’s not too late, but don’t lay the burden on the average Joe. We can do our part, but our guns will not save us. They have highly sophisticated weaponry we don’t even know about, and like you say, they control all the basic services. What’s worse, they know the territory and every little detail about our families. Just ask Roberts. So it’s really up to you guys. Like the saying goes, there’s always a first time for everything.

I pray that I will never see Civil War in this Country, however I will protect my family at all costs even it it means shooting first, taking supplies from the dead or almost dead, and taking everything from the Dictator supporters.

I act with my vote, letter writing, protesting, and what ever I can do politically before the event. But I am getting ready and training my kids how to survive, well having former Military help train my kids. For they are the ones that will have to carry the tourch of freedom.

One characteristic of Western thought is the ability to predict, measure, assess, and make excuses for bad predictions. So here we go. It is tough to assess body-counts from a distance, given certain media filters. It is even tougher to assess wound numbers.
So the number of reported Chicago murders was… 4. This seems low as a different account has logged 250 year to date, or around 11 / week. A potential modeling error was my assumption that deaths would be concentrated around weekends. It is possible that the concept of employment, and the following concept of ‘weekend’ is not valid in the culture being modeled. Or it could be random error or media filters.
My guess is a mixture of all three. This weekend’s estimate for Mr. Obama’s neighborhood is therefore as follows:

0 dead by blade
4 wounded by blade

The cops, on every level, are completely untrustworthy. Even the cops that I know with military experience have bought into the “stuff” of progressivism. They know better than we do.

You are so right. I had a co worker tell me about two years that he was investing in gold for when everything turned to crap. I told him I invested in ammo. He said that with his gold he could barter for goods. When I said with my bullets against his gold, who did he think would end up with the goods, he saw the light.

That said; I think that this buy up seems to be a little obsessive.
When I was in America, a friend inquired as to types of guns that I own. I told him that I have a .22 Winchester, .22 Ruger, .22 Anshult target rifle, .222 Parker Hale, .243, and so on.
He remarked that his amoury contain much bigger weapons, as was commonly the case in America.
I was unmoved.
As I said to him then, and as I still believe, “Guns are like penises; it’s not how big they are that counts, it’s how many times you hit the target.”

I keep a .45 in the drawer next to my bed for quick access but keep a 12 ga in the bedroom closet. For close range in the house defense it is hard to beat a shotgun. More important then caliber is what is the most accurate for you. The best thing to do is be proficient in all calibers, but if you can shoot the eye out of a gnat with your .22 but are only so-so with your .357 magnum, go with the .22. In either case, go with hollow points unless your semi-automatic has trouble cycling them.
