Posted on June 13, 2011 at 8:02amThe double lift? Even when she pulled the top card? I know he pushed it out to her and he could have pushed out 2 cards, but giving control to her makes me believe she was more than just an innocent participant. Also, she placed (presumably) both cards back in the 2nd position requiring him to do a triple lift.

Posted on June 13, 2011 at 12:31pmI‘m not quite sure what you’re getting at, but it sounds (based off your user name) that you’re using a straw-man argument against modern “magicians” in order to embolden your argument against the biblical basis of homosexuality being wrong.
Fact is, that what is being shown is not magic, sorcery, or witchcraft. It is an illusion, done by misdirection, slight of hand, etc. Magic, sorcery, and witchcraft still exist (i.e. wicca), and are still wrong.
Now, I’m not saying that homosexuals should be stoned to death, nor am I saying that homosexuality is any more of a sin than say, adultery, lying, stealing, etc. The Bible teaches that *all* (including me) have sinned, that since God is perfectly righteous, our sin separates us from Him, and we all are under the penalty of death. (As a side note, this means that we all die, not that anyone who sins in the year 2011 should be stoned.) The only reconciliation we can have with Him is by believing the Jesus is His son, fully God and fully man, that Jesus lived completely without sin, and that he died to take the punishment of sin in our place, and he was raised from the dead. Imagine you personally owed a trillion dollars, and someone that didn’t owe anything, who happened to have that much money, paid that debt for you. That is what Jesus did for you.

Posted on June 13, 2011 at 2:28pmI’m not using a strawman argument. You might want to look it up. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Straw_man What I am doing is demonstrating absurdity by being absurd.
And for the record, I in no way believe in Exodus 22:18, nor do I consider sleight of hand to be true magic. I don’t consider any stage or street magic to be true magic. My best friend in grad school was Wiccan. What she did was true magic.
I know how I would achieve that illusion. A deck of cards that is ever so slightly magnetic (considered witchcraft back in the good old (testament) days), and a very, very thin card that is double-backed. Notice he didn’t shuffle the deck, because that would cause the thin double-backed card to drop from the top. Slide the chosen card under the double-backed card, and flip over the chosen and double-backed card simultaneously to give the illusion of only turning over the top card. Slide the chosen card back off the double-backed card which is still on the top of the deck. Lather. Rinse. Repeat.
Of course, if you ever accidentally give the chosen card to a viewer with the double-backed card still stuck to it, the jig is up.
Now, shame on you, Yak, for being a bad Christian. You say you don’t believe in stoning homosexuals when Lev. 20:13 commands that homosexuals must be meeted out bloody death. You are in rebellion against God’s teachings!
Herein lies the point. When you use the Bible as your primary source of authority, you run the risk of having it turned a

Report Post »NOONTOTHREE
Posted on June 13, 2011 at 2:51pmI would encourage you to read the book of Hebrews rather than getting stuck in Levitical law. Christ is the fulfillment of the law, which was designed to lead men to Him as the turning point of our relationship with God. Where the law only pointed out man’s inability to be good in and of himself, it is through God’s grace in Christ that we can have a relationship with Him.
Case in point: God‘s view of sin doesn’t change; homosexuality and adultery are just as much a sin today as it was in the OT, and that is reinforced multiple times in the New Testament. However, it is because of His Grace that we no longer are judged by the law and must die by the law. We can turn to him and repent.

Posted on June 13, 2011 at 1:55amThere is a hollowed void in the center of the deck in which a tiny gnome is placed who is also an expert forger. The gnome copies the exact writing of the “mark” and presto-changio!
This “trick” really lacks a wow factor. It’s really not impressive to change the 2nd to top card to the top card.

Posted on June 13, 2011 at 12:52amThe trick is in the top card. The second card merely slides out with it when he goes to flip them, probably because the top card is slightly smaller width so that the second card acts like the top card when he pushes it to the side. The mystery is why Houdini couldn’t figure this out..

Posted on June 13, 2011 at 12:35amThe second time the trip is done you can see that he takes two cards of the deck and not just her card. Easy….
Report Post »toddtheartist
Posted on June 13, 2011 at 12:25amI think I have the trick figured out… When he puts the “name card” under the top card, somehow the top card sticks to the “name card” so when he turns the top card over he’s really turning over 2 cards and the “name card” is showing. Notice he presses all the cards together to allign them all so you can’t see if there are 1 or 2 cards.
Report Post »Then, here’s the tricky part (because he hands her the “name card”, if he handed her 2 cards she’d notice. watch him)….
He flips both cards back over. The “name card” is now the 2nd card from the bottom, but it looked as if it’s the top card now. He takes the top card and puts it under the 2nd card (which is the name card). Then he has her take the top card. It’s her “name card” all by itself, no 2nd card with it.
He could easily repeat this over and over.
Pfttt….. Houdini… It only took me about 5 times to figure this out.

Report Post »wtd
Posted on June 13, 2011 at 8:09amHe never shuffles the deck. Each time he performs the trick, the top card remains the same. If the top card is somehow magnetized, perhaps to the ink used to write on the chosen card, the other card sticks to it solidly once the deck is evened out and the second card will always appear to be the top card.. Take note of how he slides the top card off the deck.

Here’s what I think is happening the 2nd and subsequent times:
After the card is placed back on top of the deck, TWO cards are flipped over.
The top card is thought to be the card written on, but is actually the other card that is flipped, which has two back sides.
The 2nd card is slipped under the top card in the deck, which is actually the card that was written on.
There are some curious edits of the video, you’ll notice.

Posted on June 13, 2011 at 1:30amIt looks pretty simple:
Report Post »- 1st & 3rd times he is careful to flip over the top 2 cards making it look like one card.
- 2nd & 4th time he is careful to flip the 2 cards back over. At this point the illusion is that the top card is 3S, but it is actually the 2nd card. He then moves the top card below the 2nd card, which actually moves the 3S to the top of the deck. At that point he can have someone else take it from the top etc. because the 3S actually is on top of the deck.
