Hannity Panel Explodes Over Discussion of President‘s Economic ’Successes’

“I am going to be working so hard. We have an amazing story to tell. This President has brought us out of the dark and into the light,” First Lady Michelle Obama said while stumping for her husband.

These comments, and the possible “return of Obamamania,” became a hot topic of a debate on Sean Hannity’s Fox show on Wednesday.

“Michelle Obama can tell all the amazing stories she wants but she’s not going to be able to rewrite the sordid history of these last four years,” conservative authoress Michelle Malkin said.

“There seems to be here,” host Sean Hannity said to Fox News contributor Tamara Holder, “a disconnect because the president … he lectured George Bush about $4 trillion in eight years. We now passed the $5 trillion in debt mark.”

“Do you think this deserves comparisons to Jesus?” Hannity asked, referring to the First Lady’s biblical-esque claim that her husband has “brought us out of the dark and into the light.”

“I think that’s a little bit of a stretch in your own right Sean,” Holder responded.

“What’s a stretch?”

“The stretch is that the average person does not really understand that the large enormous debt that you continue to talk about really doesn’t hit the person at home …”

“Five trillion, we just passed the five trillion in 39 months!” Hannity interjected.

“Which is because the Republicans, they wanted to go to this war, or I’m sorry, two wars to go find somebody,” Holder snarked.

Steering the conversation back on point, Hannity said: “It seems to me that on every measure the President fails and on every account those that are deeply, almost hypnotically, entranced by Obama, they go back to some excuse.”

At that moment, Malkin jumped in: “One of the main talking points they use is the one that Tamara just invoked which is that ‘average, ordinary people just don’t understand.’”

“Really the average person isn’t so excited about Mitt Romney. The average person knows that they are actually coming back to work, they’re getting jobs,” Holder said, “their foreclosure rates are down. There are certain things that people are seeing, the person next door, nobody understands five trillion.”

Malkin unloaded:

Conservatives online are not accepting these fables that have been shoved down our throat. The idea that Obama has brought us out of the light when he’s plunged us deeper into the sinkhole of debt, that somehow Obama has opened up Washington D.C. to make it as transparent and open as possible, when they’ve done all of these deals and subverted the rule of law behind closed doors.

That somehow Obama is more likeable than any Republican and somehow he’s a nice guy. I hate hearing this from Mitt Romney. He’s got to get this talking point out of his mouth. Barack Obama is not a nice guy.

At this point, Hannity himself felt compelled to challenge Holder and asked her to name at least one economic success the president can claim as his own.

Holder tried to use  unemployment as an example but, as could be expected on the Hannity program, she didn’t get very far.

“No unemployment is higher … You’re wrong,” Hannity said.

Apparently, the combination of being challenged on the president’s economic “successes” and having to do battle with Michelle Malkin proved too much for Holder.

“I don’t understand why you have me on the show and you don’t have to like what I say but you’re fine with Michelle and everybody talking about their conservative flowery talking points and you don’t want me to finish my position,” Holder huffed.

She then turned the conversation away from a defense of the president’s economic record and instead chose to focus on the presumed Republican presidential nominee, Mitt Romney.

“The guy [Romney] is borderline brain-dead,” Holder said, demonstrating for all to see that “new civility” we’ve heard so much about.

      lol, you should call them on their lies more often, Sean. He does, but sometimes he’ll let them get away with a blatant lie, or with talking over the other panelist. This time, he actually did his job as a moderator and stopped Tamara from her Alinsky tactic of talking over and dismissing the other side with Michelle (only after Michelle made it obvious that she wanted her fair turn, though), and he stopped Tamara when she told a blatant lie multiple times, instead of letting her run with it. Of course, if they always shut up the left’s side whenever they started lying, or cutting people off and ridiculing them, there would never be a real word uttered from the left on Fox…

      Hannity asked for one successful accomplishment since obama took over, and holder responded that unemployment is down. well, that is factually untrue. maybe unemployment is down from it’s high point under HIS administration (10% in Oct ‘09), but SINCE HE TOOK OVER in January of 2009 unemployment is up (8.2% in march of this year compared to 7.8% in Jan ‘09 when he took over).
      If one’s whole argument is predicated upon a lie, what’s the point in letting them continue?

      it isn‘t that the FOX heads won’t let the liberal guests make their points, it is that they want the guests to back them up, justify them, footnotes and all that…

She carried on about talking points while spouting endless streams of them. NO…Obama has not lowered the unemployment rate, it’s still higher than when he took office. It was 7.3 in December 2008. Holder gets angry because it’s difficult to defend the indefensible. Malkin was destroying this lefty cretin.

      We little folk undestand that gas is more expensive, food is more expensive, college for my kid is more expensive, healthcare… more expensive isn’t even the word for healthcare.

      His crimes go way beyond jail time. He has committed so many acts of treason, I personally can not think of a punishment hard enough for him until he meets the Lord on judgment day and has to atone for his many transgressions against us as well as Christianity.

    Interesting: Michelle Malkin told Romney to stop calling Obama a ‘nice guy’.

    At first I agreed but then I thought back to Reagan-Carter and Reagan did the same thing to Carter and Jimmy hated it. He also called him a nice guy but way over his head, then said his great line “there you go again.” Reagan was a greatly likable guy because he had class.

    Successfully shutting down Keystone XL and ensuring dependence on hostile Arab powers for our oil.
    Successfully inhibiting drilling in the gulf and guaranteeing us a future of high energy prices.
    Successfully preventing any new coal plants from being built and ensuring that our electricity prices will necessarily skyrocket.
    Successfully getting a banking bill passed which will ensure that anyone wanting to borrow or invest will have to navigate a treacherous sea of federal red tape.
    Successfully destroying our relationships in the Middle East so that allegiances will shift to China and ensuring we will have to line up to get the oil that is left.

      It’s good to have them on so people can see who they really are. Never fire or boycott people like Maher, Beckel, and their ilk; because when they speak we get to see into the mind of the liberal disease. That is the only way some of these lost souls who keep falling for liberal ideology will be able to see the true light. Tamara’s facial expressions and tone show just how off base these idiots are; but without it shown in proper context, the sheeple still fall for what they say. I’ve had too many arguments with idiots out there because they use the same talking points and when shown fact they get overly emotional and begin to attack with insult and rhetoric. We should never shut these people up in the right forum where they can be proven wrong with in-their-face fact, so people can see their true reaction to reality, only then will the sheeple start to use their mind; if not then they are truly lost…

    Sean does need to allow her to finish her whole speech and then dissect it once she has finished because it does seem like he is being unfair to her, even if she is wrong.

      My favourite part of this article was watching Holder fumble and fall over herself trying to defend the indefensible. BAIKONUR..by all means defend Holder here..how is 8.2% unemployment today lower than 7.3% in December 2008? Spin BAIKONUR..Spin baby.

      I saw it last night and wondered why Tamara is on Fox, she is clueless and just as offensive as Beckel. They NEVER have an argument just that stupid, headshake and eye roll. My kids did that as teenagers but got over it when they grew up. Michelle is right about obama being a nice guy…. HE IS NOT and the sooner Rommney stops saying that, I’ll be more comfortable with him. GOP 2012 or it’s into the darkness…
