WHITMORE LAKE, Mich. (AP) — Michigan Congressman Thaddeus McCotter has officially announced at an Independence Day celebration that he will seek the Republican Party’s nomination for president.
The 45-year-old attorney from the Detroit suburb of Livonia made the announcement Saturday evening during a festival in Whitmore Lake, 30 miles west of Detroit.
McCotter, who’s also a guitarist, performed with his band at the event.

McCotter was elected to his fifth consecutive term in Congress in November.
He will join a field of GOP hopefuls that already includes former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty, U.S. Rep. Ron Paul of Texas, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, pizza magnate Herman Cain, former Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman and U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann of Minnesota.

Posted on July 3, 2011 at 2:00amThad is the type of person who is very well-spoken, and very sure of himself when he speaks. He doesn’t seem the type to need to go for any hyperbole to jack himself up. Really, he‘s the guy who can use his intellect to cut someone like Obama to the core without BO even realizing he’s been verbally pimp-smacked – with McCotter smiling at him the entire time.

Posted on July 3, 2011 at 1:38amSeen him on RedEye several times and have finally began liking this guys wit. He’s definitely an intellectual and he has a command of words like no other imo. He’s a true conservative which is a plus in my book. Now I have 3 guys (well one of them is gal; lol) that I can almost be happy about (Cain, Backmann, and now McCotter). :)

Posted on July 3, 2011 at 1:33amAt this point, he’s just chaff in the mix of candidates. That’s ok, he’s learning and possibly could interject an idea or issue that turns out to be a great catalyst.

I heard him on a local radio show last night, and he said something really great in relation to China. He said that some are very mistaken when they think that prosperity leads to freedom. He said that it is only freedom that leads to prosperity!

Posted on July 3, 2011 at 12:58amAWESOME! Thad is the man. A lot of people are going to be learning about Thaddeus McCotter and you will like what you see. He’s real. He’s loyal to the Constitution. He’s got a wit sharper than a ginsu knife. But most important, he‘s one of those guys who you just can’t attack without getting a black eye back. The left is going to learn very quickly, “the only winning move is to not play the game” cause Thad’s got the nads to stand up to the left like very few can.

Report Post »Sorry but McCotter is not loyal to the Constitution. He voted in favor of the Patriot Act which is a blatant violation of the Fourth Amendment.
If loyalty to the Constitution is important to you, Ron Paul is the only candidate that fits that bill.

Posted on July 3, 2011 at 11:27am@ Neverending, I agree. And all these people already ready trashing him before they know anything about him is sad .At this rate our side will never get a great candidate because we eat our own. How about folks stop saying negatvie things about him before doing a little research. Maybe he could be our George Washington, but we may never know if people don’t give him a chance. I really don’t want to get stuck with RINO Romney. Remember, we want to unseat Obama folks, not kill our chances for a possibly great President.

I find it hard to believe how few of you hear have heard of him; he’s a frequent guest on Dennis Miller and Jerry Doyle, and has been on Bill Bennett and Sean Hannity too. He’s been a consistent vote on conservative side of economic issues; up to and including voting NO on the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008. Check out his positions and his record; he’s easily as dependable as Bachmann or Santorum.
