Harry Belafonte: Herman Cain Is ‘A Bad Apple’ Who ‘Knows Very Little’ About Race in America

Over the past week, GOP presidential contender Herman Cain has faced increasing scrutiny and ridicule from the left.
Many of the attacks he has received have come as a direct result of recent comments he has made about race and equality in America. Cain, an African American, has repeatedly stated that he doesn’t believe that race is a major factor in holding people back any longer.
We’ve already heard some sharp responses from Al Sharpton, who recently debated the authenticity of Cain’s blackness. And then there was commentary from MSNBC hosts Lawrence O’Donnell and Martin Bashir. As the Blaze reported, O’Donnell accused Cain of “sitting on those sidelines” during the civil rights movement. Bashir very similarly accused him of not doing his part to fight racism.
Now, Harry Belafonte is adding his voice to the choir of liberals who are discontented with Cain’s opinions on race on race. In July, Belafonte, who has become known for making political slams in the recent past, said that Barack Obama lacks moral courage and vision. Last year, he also publicly slammed the Tea Party.
In his most recent political comments, which were made on CNN’s “The Joy Behar Show,” Belafonte took on Cain‘s claims that racism doesn’t hold African Americans back “in a big way” anymore. Here were Belafonte’s very harsh words about the presidential contender:
“Well, you know, it’s very hard to comment on somebody who is so denied intelligence and certainly someone who is as denied a view of history such as he reveals. He knows very little.
Because he happened to have had good fortune, because he happened to have had a moment when he broke through – the moment someone blinked – does not make him the authority on the plight of people of color.”
Of course, Belafonte couldn’t resist taking some jabs at the wider Republican and Tea Parties:
“The Republican party, the tea party, all those forces to the extreme right have consistently tried to come up with representations for what they call black, what they call the real Negroes [Belafonte then referred to Secretaries of State Condoleezza Rice and Colin Powell to provide examples].
They’re heroes for some people. But for a lot of us, they’re not. Herman Cain is just the latest incarnation of what is totally false for the needs of our community and the needs of our nation. I think he’s a bad apple. And people should look at his hole card. He’s not what he says he is.”
Watch his comments below:
It seems the hits just keep on coming, but Cain doesn’t seem phased. He addressed these comments, among others, with Sean Hannity on Monday evening:

Sure, Cain has an excuse – Bush, Obama, Perry, Romney – all were clueless.

Posted on October 11, 2011 at 9:36amYou cannot expect just because a person is black that they will back Cain. Cain is a conservative christian capitalist…first..that overrides any blackness Cain has. If I were Cain I would say very little about it. For him to talk about it gives it traction. If I were in the Cain camp I would do everything I could to show his african american base. They are there, we just don‘t see it because the white guilt leftist main stream media does’nt want you to see it.

Why would you want your children to be a National Security Advisor or a Four Star General. Yep, what a disgrace they are to your community. And Herman Cain? Just read his book. Posted on October 11, 2011 at 10:12amSo, if Mr. Cain “knows little about race in America”, that would imply that he doesnt define people by the color of their skin. That is the result of a mind free from racism. That probably helps explain his ability to achieve great success in a country that Mr. Belafonte and the self-proclaimed black leaders claim prevents a black person from attaining that level of success.

Posted on October 11, 2011 at 11:17amThe more I see Herman Cain, the more I like him. I was for Perry, but am not sure I even want him as my governor now. Forget about in-state tuition for illegal immigrants, Perry signed a law in Texas that went into effect on 09/01/11 (TX House Bill 1278 – 82nd Legislature Regular Session), which allows home owner associations to remove religious displays from a person’s home.
The law is supposed to protect homeowners from HOAs, but it achieves the exact opposite of its stated goal since it gives HOAs the authority to go onto a person’s property and remove displays that don’t fit certain criteria established in advance by the HOA. I guess Perry doesn’t have much respect for the 1st Amendment or the 5th Amendment.
Our HOA tried to hide the new policy by mentioning it on the last page of our October newsletter, but I went down to our HOA office and got a copy. It states that the HOA can remove any religious display on the door of a home that is larger than 6.25” x 6.25” x 6.25” x 6.25” (25” square). When I called our HOA GM to ask about Christmas decorations and Easter decorations, he said not to worry about it, because the HOA would never apply the policy to holiday decorations. Yeah, right, because we know stuff like that never happens in America these days. Needless to say, I will be fighting this policy and, without exception, all of the neighbors I have informed about it want the policy rescinded.

This is the equivalent of watching someone in an action movie assessing a situation, leaping climbing over obstacles, dodging projectiles and escaping into a safe area or out of the danger zone and turning to your friend to say,” wow he got lucky!” He wasn’t just fortunate! You do realize that our gov’t just assassinated an American citizen right? Alwalaki(I can’t remember how to spell it, sorry) was an American. Obama and a crackpot team of his favorite lawyers all sat down and discussed just how they could throw out the Constitution and the Bill of Rights and murder an American citizen and you are claiming that this is an “extremist” view on the part of those that respect the Constitution and the Bill of Rights and say that it was wrong?? There are things that I disagree with Ron Paul about, but in this case, he is correct. Justice is not something that can be meted out without judicial oversight, in the case of Alwalaki, there was no oversight. Obama and his pals just threw out the Law of The Land, do you think this will be the only time we see this happen? If you do, you are fooling yourself. Just wait, we will see far worse things happen soon, especially if we do not make sure we got Obama and all of his pals out of the gov’t.

In the last few years since this anti-american has been smearing our Country, I really have learned to hate who he is and refuse to listen to his music anymore. To think at one time I LOVED him. Shows what fools young women can be who have no knowledge of what you look for in people you show affection for. When O’Reilly comes on, I switch the channel to FOX BUSINESS news, Judge Napolitano on “Freedom Watch” Ron Paul appears regularly. Maybe that’s why they ridicule Dr. Paul on the regular Fox News station. Last time Dr. Paul was on O’Reilly, Bill wouldn’t let him speak (you know how Bill is sometimes) so Dr. Paul just decided Bill wasn’t a journalist who wanted the full story. Simple as that. I don’t like Bill since the sex scandal, wife leaving and such anyway, prefer Napolitano.
