Harry Belafonte Says Obama Lacks Moral Courage and Vision

Singer Harry Belafonte Says President Obama Has Failed Because of a Lack of Moral CourageHarry Belafonte isn’t shy about sharing his political opinions. While he has vocally slammed the Tea Party in the past, he now has some tough words for President Barack Obama. In a blow that is sure to sting, the singer and activist says that the president and his “mission” have failed because of a lack of moral courage and vision.

Aside from claiming that Obama is “not a stand-alone,” Belafonte addressed America’s contentious debt crisis. He posed what he believes to be a convicting question for Congress, the president and other U.S. powerhouses: “What happened to moral truth” and moral courage?

These tough remarks were made to the Television Critics Association, while the entertainer was discussing his upcoming HBO documentary, “Sing Your Song.” The 84-year-old singer, known as the King of Calypso, has been actively involved in political and social issues since the U.S. civil rights movement. Watch Belafonte discuss the film, which premieres on October 17:

…[Belafonte spoke] pointedly about his disappointment in Barack Obama, charging that, though he’s not alone in doing so, he’s failed the country because he has not been able to see a moral purpose beyond political victories.

This isn’t the first time in recent memory that the singer has offered his political opinions to the American public. Back in October 2010, The Blaze covered Belafonte’s speech at the “One Nation” rally. The performer said:

“Abraham Lincoln knew the evil of slavery and in abolishing that evil saved America. Although slavery may have been abolished, crippling poison, racism, still persists. And the struggle still continues… Perhaps the greatest threat of all is the undermining of our Constitution and the systematic attacks against the inalienable rights of the citizens of this nation. Rights that are guaranteed by our Constitution. At the vanguard of this insidious attack is the Tea Party. This band of misguided citizens is moving perilously close to achieving villainous ends.”

      Harry… I hate to break it to you but we are not a Democracy and never have been. We are a Republic. Also Harry the first person to legally own a slave in America… Was a Black man.

      Slavery is gone. Thank god. There is racism in America and all over the world. However some black people in America are just as racist as some white people.

      Paul Robeson, Harry Belafonte and Sidney Poitier set up a scholarship fund around 1960 to help promissing Black students. One of the students was Barack Hussein Obama Sr.,who attended the University of Hawaii and latter Harvard. Obama Sr. was a womanizer and had at least two wives. Our President is supposedly the biological son of Barack Hussein Obama Sr.

      Harry Belafonte probably knows the real story about little Barry Dunham and is just aching to tell everybody the true story. Barry attended a private school in Hawaii and received a degree from Columbia and Harvard. All this education was expensive and someone was supplying financial backing.

    Only that statement can explain why those who want to return to the original intent of the founders of a small, limited government with most of the power residing in the states to be incubators for government are labeled as extremists.

      Joe I think he is a little more than a “One hit wonder”. I loved his music for years but I can’t hear it now without thinking of his politics. Singers and Actors are not politically informed and should keep their mouths shut. Just because they are given a “Platform to speak” does not mean they have to.

      If they don’t shut up I soon will have no music to listen to, and will despise every actor/actress. I guess I can still listen to Elvis until he “Comes” out and voices an opinion I disagree with also. lol

      @ SISSYKATZ You took the words right out of my mouth. I dislike so many show-biz people because of their socialist activities, I refuse to see them, watch them on TV, or listen to them. So, I hardly every go to movies, refuse to go to big events that include these people. But, know what? I really don’t miss any of this. These people are just people to me, not ones to idolize in any way.

      Also re when the rapture will occur — many Christians do not agree that we’ll be taken away before the 7 – year tribulation….we’ll have to go through it and not be raptured until the very end, just before Jesus destroys the world as we know it. My opinion is it’s in the very near future — watch Israel.

      I used to be a pre-trib (meaning we get raptured and then the tribulation comes), but more and more lately I’m thinking mid-trib. I understand the pre-trib thinking didn‘t come about until the 1700’s or 1800′s? Haven’t looked it up in a while. Mid-trib is we get 3.5 years of trib before we get raptured.

      loriann12@ That is what I believe also, based on the teachings of a very learned man with many years experience in Tribulation study and also the Middle East. What he preaches even goes against what his own church believes (the denomination I mean) but he said that he can come to no other conclusion. He too use to believe pre-trib, but more and more I have been finding people who believe mid-tribulation and YES, I too think that the time is getting closer and closer. Our world has become so corrupt, that it is hard to see how God will let it go on for many years longer.
