Harry Potter Actress Beaten, Called a Prostitute by Family for Seeing Non-Muslim

Afshan Azad, the 22-year-old British actress who portrayed Padma Patil, a classmate of Harry Potter in the blockbuster Hollywood films, was reportedly beaten, called a ‘whore’ and threatened with death by members of her own family after dating a young, non-Muslim man. According to the UK’s Daily Mail, the young actress was assaulted and called a ‘prostitute’ after she met with a young Hindu man — a potential relationship that apparently angered her father and brother. After her family members threatened to kill her, Azad reportedly fled the family’s home through her bedroom window. The movie star is apparently so frightened of her brother and father, she has refused to confront them in court.

Both men were charged with making threats to kill her and her brother was also charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm on his sister.

Instead of both going on trial today, the prosecution decided to accept a guilty plea of assault by her brother, and both men were formally found not guilty of making threats to kill. …

Richard Vardon QC, prosecuting, told the court: ‘The incident took place on Saturday 21 of May at the home address of the family in Longsight, Manchester.

‘The prosecution allegation in essence is she was the victim of a wholly unnecessary and unpleasant assault by her brother.

‘The reason for the assault, apparently her association with a Hindu young man, that apparently being disapproved of by her family who are Muslim.

‘Specifically she spoke not only of assault but also threats to kill, made jointly by her father and brother.’

According to the prosecutor, the father was awoken by his son when he shouted, “Sort out your daughter!  She’s a slag (slang for ‘whore’)!”

‘[The brother] continued to further assault her, in disputed Bengali, shouting, “Just kill her!”

‘The assault continued. There was a discussion where she was being called a prostitute.’

The threats to kill her apparently continued, the witness told police in a statement.

Reading from the victim’s statement, Mr Vardon added: ‘My father began saying he would do it, a reference to kill her, as he did not want his sons to have her blood on their hands and he would do time for it.

‘Then she began to feel very scared.

‘Having gone to the police in respect of these matters she made a statement to the police on 22nd of May.

‘Part of her version of events was that he was going to force the complainant into a forced marriage of some sort.’

But, according to the prosecutor’s report, the young actress was too afraid of her own family members to press formal assault charges:

After going to police she ‘made it plain’ to officers and lawyers that she did not want any action taken against her family, or the arrest of her father or brother otherwise it would put her in ‘genuine danger’.

‘She came to police for help and support, and the arrest of her family members would not be of assistance,’ Mr Vardon added.

The prosecutor said she later made ‘retraction statements’ to police and reiterated her lack of willingness to support any prosecution.

She also ‘put a gloss’ on her father’s words by saying she found it hard to understand his heavy Bengali accent so could not be sure what he had said.

Both men were found not guilty on death threats and the son pleaded guilty to one count of assault, but was bailed out and awaits formal sentencing in January and has been instructed not to contact his sister.  Both men have been ordered to “keep the peace” on parole.

    What is so sad is that the British system hasn’t done anything about the radical Muslim population. Sadly, this young woman’s life will never be the same. I fear for her safety. She needs to find somewhere safe to live in another city or come here to America. The justice system needs to keep these men under watch.

    I‘m so tired of the progressives defending the Islam’s so-called ‘peaceful’ religion. It is not. When your founder kills hundreds of innocent people and preaches one to ‘SUBMIT’ or be killed and that Jews are ‘pigs’, then that is not a religion of peace, but rather, evil.

    Plain and simple.

    How many people will continue to get hurt or killed because of this religion?

      Until the dems notice why we went to Iraq, and realize that most Muslims support this, I have no problems with people who just practice the religion, not take it to the seriousness of killing people, it’s almost like saying that a Jew or Muslim can openly celebrate a holiday, but if a Christian or Catholic can’t since someone may get offended. I‘m an Atheist and I don’t care what you celebrate, just don’t shove it down my throat, I don’t why people make such a big fuss over it.

      The attention this story has gotten in the media has served two purposes. It continues to show that Muslims truly are barbaric and hateful. ( I could have used the word evil, but I think that would only describe SOME muslims.       2. Attack a religion based on it’s foundation and teachings.

      @MALACHAI having a church and bible in hand isn’t automatic grace of God. Actions of Westboro Baptist Church isn’t pleasing nor do we expect that to have the blessing of god our creator.

      A company that strives for exceptional customer service doesn‘t mean you’re always going to get what you want or had expected because we all have a different sense of motivation.

I’m an Atheist and even on my WORST days I would never, ever seriously compare Christians to those scumbags the Phelps. My point is that you can cherry pick news stories all day long (which is what biased sites like TheBlaze does) in order to make Muslims look exceptionally bad. I think all religion is poison, but to try to sit on a high horse and say “Well those Muslims are bad but our religion is full of peace and love and unicorns” is nonsense.

      Honestly, if you think your religion is truly based on nothing but love and compassion then you have not read your bible. It is full of rape, murder, and plenty of other great things; wholly approved by your God. You should actually read through it in it’s entirety some time. I think you may be surprised.

      I especially like the part in the new testament about “turning the other cheek, and forgiving those who trespass against you”, you know, the forgivness part and also about “Vengence is mine, sayeth the lord”. I think that means man should not seek revenge or take actions that “Offend” God into his own hands. I would think honor killings and what this entire story is about is not a Christian thing to do, but seem in line with Muslim beliefs. Yes you are right about Christians doing bad things, but so do Aethists, Wickens, Muslims, Hindus, Buddists, Mormons, etc….
      The one common thread is Man. Man is flawed, simple. But when you have a group preaching hate against non-believers, that just amplifies the flaws, thus, go back to forgiveness.

      A couple years ago near where I live the muslim father and brother took the teenage daughter to the garage and strangled her. He crime – she didn’t want to wear the headscarf to high school. When the press interviewed the local Imams, a few said it was wrong but the MAIN Imam made the comment that it must be considered she was dis-honoring her family.
      Now these are the peaceful ones!!!!!

      I HAVE read the Bible from cover to cover several times.. Something I am positive you have not done. You are right in that there are lots of disagreeable things in the Bible. The lesson is that life is not always a “bed of Roses”. But, nowhere in the Bible does it indicate that God approves of “rape, murder, and the other things you are thinking of”.
      I follow Christ. The Holy Spirit told me on the night of 9/11/01 to “forgive them” and I did, but I still expect to see “them brought to justice”. You see God offers the Bible to us for guidance, prophecy, inspiration and any other knowledge He wishes to bestow upon us. The key to understanding the Bible is to be in fellowship with the Holy Spirit. Without that key, you will never be able to understand the wisdom there. If the Bible says that someone is to be killed, it is in reference to capital punishment much like our laws, but never is murder (killing in anger) allowed. As for “rape”, I challenge you to find scripture where God condones rape.
      I expect that in your “PC” world, you consider war as legalized “murder”, but war between nations is not the same as individual action.
      Our belief is based on LOVE and we are told never to hate anyone, but that does not preclude the legal dispensation of justice in a way condoned by law. The love I refer to is the love of God for us, and this “love” is without limit.

In a recent survey 22% of American Muslims supported suicide bombings. Less than 70% would condemn Al Quada. Poll American Christians and find out how many support the Westboro nut jobs.

      “man is flawed”…yes granted but, some groups of men are more flawed then others by the standards of most…ie: Muslim ideology is more flawed then Christian according to most lets say athiests…or anyone for that matter that is not muslim…it goes back to the peaceful nature of acutal true practitioners of each faith…the Quakers for example vs Fundamentalist Muslims for example…yes put next to eachother without the protection of the rest of us…the Quakers would not last long against a muslim society living next door.

      so in essence we all (including moderate muslims who dont really believe in all the tennents of their Koran) would rather live next door to a Quaker then a Muslim because chance dictates that the Muslim is more likely to attempt to kill you then the Quaker, or Amish, or Hindu, or Buddhist, etc. etc.

      As to the story posted … if this young woman weren’t famous, we‘d never hear about it until after she’d been killed or maimed. That will, however be the next story about her since she has publicly embarrassed and dishonored her male family members by going to the police with an interal family matter. Since the practice involved here is a matter of religion (muslim woman with non-muslim boyfriend and the threat of honor killing/violence), this story is about islam, as suely as peg roast is about pork.

      You have a good point, Shaira law is a danger and the Canada and Oklahoma ruling are going to have chilling affects if we don’t watch it.
      The problem was Christians were being attacked earlier in the thread with references to the old testament, my points were the new testament preached forgiveness and not taking Gods matter into man’s hands. That is exactly what this story is about, taking a so called offense against Gods/Allahs rule and taking it into, in this case, the families hands to dole out their own justice. If I seen someone run a stop sign, followed them, handcuffed them, and then imprisoned them in my basement for 30 days, wouldn’t I be a criminal because I took justice into my own hands? But under Sharia law, all you have to do is say “she dishonored us”, kill her or beat her and you are justified.

      In other posts, some memebers seem to have not read my posts and seem to think I sided with the Libs/Aethist. Please read my posts, I am trying to point out anytime “Man” tries to take Gods justice into his own hands, he is distorting his own interpretations and calling it “Justice”.

      I emailed Don Smith about the spamming. And from his response to me… I think I smell a rat. Considering how little anyone knows about this guy I cannot imagine he gets the traffic he says he does. Maybe I’m wrong, I’ll let you be the judge. What follows is his reply to me…

      “I get 250,000 visitors each day on average, and have no control over any of
      them. I don’t personally need to spam anything, anywhere. If you have a
      problem with someone on a website, I would suggest that you take it up with
      that person. I couldn’t even tell you the last time I was on that website,
      nor do I feel any obligation to. This is the fourth email I’ve gotten today
      on this. I don’t know what to tell you dude.”
