This man scuttled the most popular River Boat in America, the Delta Queen, the oldest working steamboat in the U.S. by not allowing the Congress to vote on the same bill that passed by “Yay” vote yearly since 1974 to allow it to keep operating. He kept the bill in committee (he is chairman of the transportation committee) knowing full well it would pass if he let it go to vote.
He gave a speech on the floor about the a danger of steamboats citing an accident where 1000s of soldiers died on one – a true story, from THE CIVIL WAR. (he left that part out). That was his reason to stop the Delta Queen in 2008, 170 years later (Uh Jim, technology has come a long way since they used ropes to measure knots)
Bottom line, he was all about the local dockyard workers getting a piece of the riverboat business – a union shill. When the company said they couldn’t run it profitably as a union shop he decided the company should die and 100s of non-union people lose jobs. If the union can’t have it, no one can. That’s modern socialism, folks. There were even democrats opposing him.
How the heck could this state stand this man for so many years?

Here is the Oberstar speech on the Delta Queen “The union has nothing to do with this.”
Yes, the Delta Queen has extensive wood. But it had been sailing in the same condition since 1974. The Coast Guard had said they can’t operate the vessel WITHOUT the same congressional exemption they got for 38 years Oberstar was holding up suddenly this year. With the congressional exemption the Coast Guard (and Oberstar) were fine with the boat for 38 years.
In other words, another politician playing disingenuous, lying to the public record, while he scuttled 100s of jobs and a small business.
Don’t you HATE politics at times – especially the powermongers. What ever happened to serving the people, not the donors.

What we need is an INVESTIGATION of those who CONTROL the public airwaves. It would appear channels would rather LOOSE money than report the TRUTH. The same goes for the newspaper industry. We’ve got to work this snake at both ends! Somebody has got to occupy the head while we chew at its tail. Anyone taking SOROS’ money should be exposed and investigated with the full force of the law. Shortly after 8 am this morning Nancy Pelosi came across a young bear cub in distress, it appeared a young 3 year old girl had tried to pet the bear when the bear attacked. Nancy quickly rushed in and pummeled the young girl until she couldn’t move thus saving the bear cub from future petting by young girls. She will receive the Nobel peace prize later this week in celebration of her work with saving defenseless bear cubs in the wild.
This isn’t the first time Ms. Pelosi has showed her love for Animals, in the recent stimulus bill she set aside millions of tax payers dollars to save Field mice in her home state of California along with support for a Fish ladder to help fish cross the road, Apparently the Chicken who hates fish and is a speciest, refused to teach the fish how to cross the road and why they should do so.
““Update”” Chicken wasn’t available for comment at the time this story was published but later released this Statement.
Chicken says he “expected the fish to know how to cross that particular area since they had been doing so for 100′s of years already.”
Chicken also added, He is confused as to why the liberals feel he could teach the fish how to cross road considering “Chickens for years have been confused by the question” “why did the chicken, cross the road?”
