Harvard Professor Alan Dershowitz Declares War on Media Matters, Accuses Group of Tolerating Anti-Semitism

Outspoken Harvard University professor Alan Dershowitz asserted that Media Matters has “crossed the line into anti-Semitism” by tolerating an employee – M.J. Rosenberg — who consistently downplays the Iranian nuclear threat and repeatedly engages the term “Israel firster” — an epithet that implies a person’s loyalties are to Israel, rather than America first.
The staunch Zionist and liberal Democrat first started speaking out against the liberal media watchdog group last month.
“When you accuse Jews of dual loyalty, you invoke a canard that goes back hundreds of years and falls into the category of anti-Semitism,” Dershowitz said in an interview on Fox News. “To the extent that Media Matters hired him to do that and is tolerating him, they have crossed the line into anti-Semitism.”
Dershowitz called on Media Matters to fire Rosenberg, but also called on the White House to disassociate itself from Media Matters — warning that their cozy relationship would cause problems in the 2012 reelection campaign.
“The president should do to Media Matters what he did to Jeremiah Wright – totally disassociate, rebuke and say ‘I stand with Israel,’” he said.
Fox provides background on the Media Matters staffer:
Rosenberg, a senior foreign policy fellow, often writes about the heated rhetoric in Washington regarding the possibility of a conflict with Iran over its nuclear program. He is a sharp critic of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and has been warning the U.S. against joining his administration in any military campaign against Iran.
Rosenberg is hardly alone in those opinions, but his critics complain he also resorts to name-calling in the course of making his arguments.
In a column last month, Rosenberg argued that the “Israel firster” term is “accurate,” if not polite, in covering the issue of a possible war with Iran.
“There is no need here to describe who the Israel Firsters are. They are those people (of whatever ethnic background) who invariably support Israel’s policies over those of the United States,” he wrote.
The passionate Dershowitz maintained, however, that Israel‘s and America’s interests are aligned, and said Rosenberg was essentially accusing people like Dershowitz of “treason.”
“It’s the oldest of charges … accusing Jews of dual loyalty, and it can’t be tolerated, whether it comes from the left or the right,” he said. “The tent is not big enough to include people who have engaged in bigotry against the Jewish people.”

You’ve got it right on, Rose Ellen. Very valid points. Michael Savage cuts straight to the chase when he says that it is Jews like Dershowitz who caused the Holocaust.
He not only reveals a hatred for white Christians, he makes it clear that Israel is his country, not the US where he was born and presently earns a living.
It’s pigs like him that denigrates every American who had a relative who fought the Germans in WWII.
Pigs like him are not only ingrates of the highest order, they applaud the murder and mayhem directed at Palestinians, which is more vicious and abomnible than any Holocaust ever was.
I would tell those like Dershowitx that they had better tread lightly when showing their hatred of white Christians. If there is another Holocaust in this country it will come from the hands of the Muslims. They’re in sleep mode now, but as their numbers increase so will their anti-Jewish jihad.

I shudder to think what an ILLIBERAL Democrat would be saying. He may be a “liberal democrat,” but if that’s the case, so-called “liberal democrats” are not Leftists.
No Leftist would support the proposition that a state ought to exist SOLELY for the purpose of maintaining an ethnic/religious hegemony in that state, IN SPITE of the demographic reality of the territory over which it’s authority is subject. If the Palestinians, whom Israel DE FACTO treats as subject to its laws, but DE JURE denies them the same RIGHTS and franchise to which (were they not of the race/religion they are) they would be entitled as subjects to the rule of Israeli law, were treated the same politically as non-Palestinian Israeli subjects, the Jewish ethnic/religious block would not be the majority. And they can’t have THAT. Unfortunately, the only way to create a majority where there WOULDN’T be one, is to pursue unjust, and frankly racist, policies–policies that should not be tolerated, much less from one of our closest allies and an ostensible “liberal democracy.” (in the classical sense of the word “liberal” not the American sense)

What I’ve been finding is most the information out there is so obviously bias towards one extreme, I just end up with more questions than I had before I started looking into it. What leads me to believe there‘s an element of truth to what you say is Israel’s immigration policy, which I learned about from their official site. Still, I’m left clueless. I don‘t know if Israeli policy is the will of the people or if their leaders are just cramming policy down the people’s throat like our officials. The settlement issue leaves an ill feeling in my gut, but whenever I ask questions, I’m either ignored or labeled anti-semetic, which is getting old and frustrating.
