Forget drug cartels being a Mexican problem, they have infiltrated thousands of U.S. cities and are running complex and lucrative drug operations right under our noses. After all, we are their biggest and most relied upon customer.
Using information from a report released by the U.S. Department of Justice, the National Post was able to identify the trafficking routes and bases of various Mexican drug cartels. And it may shock you just how deeply embedded they are in America.
Unsuspecting cities like Portland, Denver, Indianapolis, Oklahoma City, Omaha, Baltimore, Pittsburgh, St. Louis, Chicago, Seattle, Louisville, Memphis, Boston, Minneapolis, Dallas and so many more have a reported drug cartel presence.
The gangs move heroin, marijuana, cocaine and methamphetamines to feed America’s massive drug habit, and they do so gleefully as they rake in billions of dollars in profit.
So which cartels have actually been “confirmed’ to be in America? To name a few, the Tijuana Cartel, Juarez Cartel, Gulf Cartel, Federation Cartel and numerous gangs with “unknown affiliation.”
Curiously, two of Mexico’s most powerful and ruthless cartels, the Los Zetas and the Sinaloa Cartel, are not included in the report. But make no mistake, their tentacles reach the U.S. as well.
Texas is particularly affected by the drug cartel invasion. The Gulf Cartel appears to control much of east Texas while the Juarez Cartel divides up the west. Further, the drug routes moving out of the Lone Star State and into other states are many.
“Cocaine is the most lucrative of illegal drugs. The United Nations estimates that sales of the drug net $88 billion a year on the street. While the largest federations were once Columbian, now it appears they are Mexican. The UN estimates two-thirds of cocaine that left the Andean region of South America for the United States in 2008 passed through the hands of Mexican cartels,” the National Post reports.
This graphic from the National Post breaks down the routes visually and shows where the drug cartels are operating. It also shows the number of drug related deaths in various categories, which now totals more than 50,000 since 2006. Has your city been infiltrated?

**** For Brains is destroying this country and his actions and orders are allowing the cartels open access to this country. The man is not mentally sound folks! Or is he?
Give me a Division of Marines and we won’t have a drug cartel problem anymore. Hell, we’ll own Northern Mexico and turn it into a resort region for U.S. tourists.
That will save the Mexicans the trouble of trying to take half of America back for their own version of what Mexico should be.
Long live the United States of America.

Posted on July 20, 2012 at 9:41amNoooooooooooooo! It’s not just Hussein Alabama & Eric Holding-this has been going on for decades. I lived in Columbus, IN in the late 70′s. It has a huge old WWII bomber base that’s now a municiple airport. The airport isn’t patroled at night by either the police or any gate security. It’s located 39 miles from Indianapolis, 79 miles from Louisville and 86 miles from Cincinnati and has been the local drug distribution point to these huge metro areas for decades as is evidenced by the multiple accidental drug confiscations and drug filled plane crashes (1 a marj filled DC-8). Every 4-6 months, the local police issue warrants for 50-75 street dealers & it makes front page news on the local paper. Hovever, never any action is taken against the higher level distributors-none. The police know the identy of this small group & most citizens know them as well yet local, state and federal authorities keep their corrupt hands out taking bribes which allow these criminals to continue poisoning our society. We hear almost nightly the media refering to the corrupt Afgan regime while our government and it’s enforcement agencies are corrupt and rotten to the core.
Wake up America & do something yourselves to help your country before its to late.

==========================================
It’s purpose is really irrelevant though….
The debate centers around whether or not it was effective at preventing people from crossing from one side to the other:
—————
“When the East German government built the Berlin Wall in 1961 to prevent its citizens from leaving, the regime failed to take into account the ingenuity and creativity of those willing to risk anything to escape the communist system. While some flew over the barrier in hot air balloons, others sailed far around it, via the Baltic Sea, and still others were smuggled across, hidden in secret compartments in cars. But several hundred took advantage of the soft, sandy soil under Berlin to tunnel their way beneath the wall.”
“Secret tunnels that brought freedom from Berlin’s Wall”
Even with complete militarization of the entire length of the 96-mile barrier, the Soviets and the East German border guards couldn’t prevent crossings from occurring.

RON PAUL TRUTH:
“I do not believe that barbed-wire fences and guns on our border will solve any of our problems,”
FAKE-CONSERVATIVE LIE:
“Means NO fence or Border Patrol, i.e. an open border.”
TRUTH:
Means WITH OTHER, MORE AMERICAN MEASURES, “fences and guns” ARE NOT NECESSARY. Ron Paul has also explained that REMOVING BOOTS from protecting FOREIGN BORDERS and reallocating them TO OUR OWN BORDER will remedy the situation also.
In addition, again to repeat, Ron Paul is AGAINST THE DISASTROUS, UNDERHANDED DREAM ACT. Obama IS FOR IT. Romney IS FOR IT. Especially when I have first-hand, intimate knowledge of people (not just my nephew) who think this theory is ridiculous. Are/were there troops with bad intentions who maybe smuggled it over to sell it? Probably. Is it a ‘vast right/left-wing‘ conspiracy to ’bring the people down’? Improbable. Are the Afghans growing/exporting more opium because our going over there and smashing the crap out of the Taliban freed their ability to grow it? Probably. Pilots have to fly a minimum of 40 hours a week to maintain full training status, let them do patrols over the desert and they can practice coordination with ARMY troops and bases along the boarder to catch people and supplies crossing.
People have been suprised by the cartels using submarines to smuggle drugs into the USA, how about the US Navy? Do you think the subs can outdo our navy who is literally trained to hunt and destroy such devices?
I think this is all possible. I also think that the US Military resources would be better used in this war than in North Africa, or the middle east, or Egypt, or even Syria.
HOW ABOUT SOMEONE REMEMBER THE LITERAL MEANING OF NATIONAL DEFENSE AGAIN and help us citizens that are being killed for the sake of some drug dealer keeping his stuff secret!

Posted on July 17, 2012 at 2:30pmJust my opinion I would contact the Mexican president and ask him to fix it, and give him 30 days to have the cartels under control or the USA will be forced to intervene. Then go into Mexico as a military force allianced with Mexican Police and whatever they might have for an army, and Literally and Physically crush these cartels all the way down into South America. Making a campaign to destroy the drug problem that is plaguing the western world. We would not occupy anywhere, or spend more than 30 days in any area, Just hit FAST, and HARD and do the job the first time and get out.
It can be done in only 90 days, and Mexico can be liberated from the control of the drug cartels. We can give Mexico back to its people and South America can be free again as well.
Anyway, this is just my opinion, I would re-enlist just to do it… if it became an option. Keep in mind as they make more money and grow, so does the violence, deaths, and problems. I would not want to see what becomes of our neighbor to the south in another 4 to 8 years.

Posted on July 17, 2012 at 2:46pmI agree with Lumen on this one. If the US really wants to control this drug problem, we have to use our NATIONAL DEFENSE! That is why we have it and we haven’t utilized it. I can’t help but think that our Government (Obama and the leftist) do not want to control it for a reason. I‘m not sure people realize just how much money and power these cartel’s have. They are being used, I believe for the purpose of creating an army, an army to over throw the US to bring about an even bigger problem, a new world order as it were. Obama has already said that we need a “civilian” army, one bigger (and more powerful) than our Army, what? Why in the world would he say or even think that? Why is there even a need for a civilian army?
If you look at what is going in Mexico its not just Mexican Cartels; Islamist are there, Hezbollah ring any bells? They are in Mexico and have been there for quite sometime. What happened to the CIA, weren’t they trying to control this cartel problem? I think they are also involved in it. I am going to be bold and say that they are actually controlling it or parts of it. There is more to this that what we’re being told. The borders aren’t being watched as they should be for a reason. All of this is being allowed to happen. Think about it.

Posted on July 17, 2012 at 2:19pmAnother problem is there is a market for the drugs these thugs are bringing in. If there was no market there would be no Mexican drug cartels. I’ll bet the majority of the drug users are on some sort of government assistance, so we are paying for this in more than one way.

Posted on July 17, 2012 at 4:43pmNCGrammie4, if there was no earth to support people then we would not have people using drugs. While your argument may make sense. It does nothing to solve the problem. Constructive ideas on how to address the problem with reality in mind as well. Would be more helpful.

Posted on July 17, 2012 at 2:19pmThat’s what my health teacher said. You want to know how weed makes it’s way from south america to Mexico? Young girls as mules, because the impoverished south americans are told by the cartels that they will be paid handsomely for their smuggling, and will return triumphantly home with the bacon.
Not so. If the young girls even make it to Mexico alive, even if they aren’t robbed of the drugs by their contractor and left to fend for themselves in a strange country, they often get kidnapped into the sex trade right then and there.
So if you buy weed or other drugs, remember how it got to your hands.
