‘Hatfields and the McCoys’: Cops Arrest Ron Paul Backers in Missouri Caucus Chaos

Police and organizers shut down proceedings at one of Missouri’s largest caucuses today, as Ron Paul supporters feuded with local GOP leaders.
“It’s like the Hatfields and the McCoys around here,” St. Charles County’s former GOP chairman told ABC News, after police arrived on-scene with a helicopter and removed Paul backers.
Video h/t: TheGatewayPundit
In St. Charles, an exurb of St. Louis and one of the state’s largest GOP counties, Paul supporters sought to elect their own chairman and adopt their own rules when proceedings opened – both of which are part of standard caucus rules and procedure. But as they argued with the caucus chair, Paul supporters held video cameras – against caucus rules, according to a GOP official who was there – and things became contentious.
“It turned into a little food fight within the caucus, between the caucus chairman trying to control the caucus and certain elements, I guess with Ron Paul, trying to be heard,” said Tom Kipers, a former chairman of the St. Charles GOP, who attended the caucus at Francis Howell North High School.
An off-duty police officer, hired as security, eventually fielded a trespassing complaint against the Paul supporters and notified on-duty police in the area municipality of St. Peters, who, along with police from other jurisdictions, arrested two Paul supporters and ended the caucuses early. A joint-jurisdictional police helicopter arrived on the scene. Kipers said about 10 officers arrived in total.
“Two people were arrested for trespassing after receiving numerous warnings to leave the school property,” the St. Peters police said in a press release. “Both subjects were transported to St. Peters Justice Center where they were booked for Trespassing and released on a summons.”
Kansas City Star:
Organizers shut down one of the largest GOP caucuses, in St. Charles County, because of bitter disputes between supporters of Rep. Ron Paul and attendees supporting other presidential hopefuls. Confusion and contention also marred several other crowded Republican gatherings, the Associated Press reported.
In Clay County, arguments between Paul supporters and others became so intense the caucus chairman threatened to have voters removed by force.
Backers of the Texas congressman said they were upset their views weren’t being heard. “We’re just a little frustrated because caucuses are supposed to be run by a very strict set of rules,” said Paul supporter John Findlay, who lost his bid to become caucus chairman. “We raised a number of points of order, points of information, points of parliamentary inquiry, many of which have been ignored.”
But county caucus chairman Ben Wierzbicki said all caucus-goers had been treated fairly.
“Certain people have made it very difficult on most of the people who are involved in this caucus,” he said. “It might be a little crazy, but that’s part of it.”
After a three-hour-plus session, Clay Co. caucus-goers eventually elected delegate slates from both the 5th and 6th congressional districts whose members were officially uncommitted to any specific presidential candidate. Attendees also firmly rejected an effort to more closely align the party platform with Paul’s views.
ST. PETERS, Mo. – Voters here in St. Charles County did not get a say on Saturday in who will be the next Republican presidential nominee after a disorderly caucus on Saturday caused organizers to adjourn before delegates were selected.
The unrest began as the caucus at Francis Howell North High School was called to order more than a hour late, then delayed again when a member of the crowd refused to put away a video camera, as required by the rules outlined by the local Republican Party.
“People attended the meeting with an agenda,” said Eugene Dokes, chairman of the St. Charles County Republican Central Committee. “When that happens, it’s really hard to accept the authority of the room.”
Members of crowd began shouting, “We make the rules!” among other chants as organizers tried to regain control, which they did briefly. But the shouting quickly escalated when it came time to appoint a chair of the caucus.

Posted on March 18, 2012 at 5:38amThese videos dont show the whole story, it wasnt just Paul Supporters angry as implied. The GOP leaders didnt want camera’s recording.. in a public place.. it wasnt a rule.. then the chairman started telling the cops to escort people out even though 99 percent of the people there were screaming that it was OK for camera’s to record and that it wasnt a rule… check this vid out for what lead up to this…
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WXBc7f074Eg&context=C457d3c6ADvjVQa1PpcFOIgPivcp1JnpDHPLwv9ybGv-bE1AqFzc8= and by the way the only reason Paul is losing over and over is because the GOP have rigged half the states. Wake up., do you really think Paul would get 5000 people show up to a rally in every state, then only get 200 votes in the same county? NO, over and over 5000 4000 people show up for Paul, same county only 150 or 200 for Santorum or Romney…
But the worst thing in all this is the GOP has committed suicide. Many people will not vote for Romney when this is said and done because the GOP has rigged this whole process in his favor. Everytime their is Fraud it is Romney that benefits.

Posted on March 18, 2012 at 8:26amA few thoughts come to mind:
1) this is what we are getting from fellow “conservative” RP supporters. It shows how emotional people are over politics this year. Be prepared! If our allies behave this way this early, imagine how our opposition is going to behave this summer! Especially considering their stated goal to “recreate ‘68″
#thankobama
2) while inappropriate, it IS the level of commitment that will be needed in the not so distant future to save America.
3) Roberts Rules of Order ( parliamentary procedure) is a skill we should be teaching our children, along with public speaking. Possibly a Junior version of something like Toastmasters ?
We are going to need, above all, the aid of Heavenly Father. We are going to have to have love in abundance and charity to match it.

This is going on all over the country.. They tried to have our spokesperson arrested.. They threw our camera man out.. I mean who ever dreamed that someone or group would be so ashamed of themselves in America that they wouldn’t support transparency? Men and women both almost came to blows after our Convention.. The other lie is that only Ron Paul suppoerters were involved. The crowd was estimated at between 2,000 and 2,500 people – total Ron Paul supporters 300 give or take. Everyone present wanted to film and everyone present wanted their points of orders adhered to. And the chair they wanted nominated, Brent Stafford, was chosen by Paul and Romney supporters and he is on the St Charles Central Committe, the one Dokes is chairman of, and Chait, Vice-Chair and Secratary of 3 different Republican legislative committees.
He also was not repeated told to leave – they were already outside and if Brent was trespassing than so were the 400 who were with him. He wasn’t even told what he was being taken in for. You can read what happened from Brent himself here

There are three main culprits to today fiasco. Eugene Dokes – St. Charles County Republican Committee Chairman, Bryan Spencer – Chairman of the Caucus Committee for the St. Charles County GOP (he organized the caucus), and Matt Ehlen – The guy the installed as Chairman and who ended the meeting before conducting any business.
I approached Bryan Spencer several times, prior to the commencement of the caucus, to point out where things that were being planned violated the rules. He said, “We are going to do it this way, challenge it if you want.” He is the one that was trying to rig the process to select delegates proportionally based on who was in attendance. They conducted a straw poll as people were checked in, in violation of State GOP rules.

When reading this article yesterday, I began seeing people calling Ron Paul supporters nuts or even today that Ron Paul has no chance – Think again folks. Behind the scenes, Dr. Paul has a huge grassroots movement and many delegates that will steer his way. We all want our Republic back, smaller government and a fiscally responsible government at that. Many polls show he will defeat Obama and truth be told, I doubt Obama wants to go up against him. The arguments and truth that he will bring is not the discussion Obama will want to debate. We love this country and just want a chance to be heard. When we decide the rules of the game and the candidate we have become a dictatorship. It doesn’t matter if they are a R, D or something else we create. We better not sell out our souls for any man. I know I won’t. Man will also let you down. We had already been transformed over the past 100 years. We do not have a free market, but a Corporatist market; We are not a free people, but our economy is heavily manipulated by the Federal Reserve, for the benefit of a relative few.
Because of Bush’s economic policies, he gave Obama a way to blame the housing crash on the free market; But again, Bush‘s policies weren’t free market – we don’t have a free market.
Obama is doing the same basic thing as Bush – government intervention in the economy – and because of all the bailouts and stimulus attempts, the correction never hapened; This means that more unsustainable projects have been undertaken, and the necessary corrections will be that much worse.
No other candidate understand this, but Ron Paul, so we lose if we don’t vote for him, even if we vote out Obama. Ron Paul is the only candidate who is willing to adhere to the Constitutional role of the Presidency as it pertains to the economy – AND as it pertains to foreign policy, for that matter.

Posted on March 19, 2012 at 2:58amI was there (in fact, a family member is in the photo). Please believe me that you do not have the whole story and the la times story is very VERY slanted. The Blaze got this video from a PaulBot, who would not comply with the temporary rules. The game went down like this….standing in line to register, Paulites came through the line, passing out INCORRECT, made-up copies of “caucus rules” that someone had placed a Missouri Seal on so it looked authentic. The Central Planning Committee purposely did not put anything out in advance, so it was definitely faked. Paul and Romney people decided to join forces so that, together, they could have the majority. They refused to come to order. It took 20 minutes to just get to the Pledge, for crying out loud! They came in with an agenda, undoubtedly. The only people with cameras were the Paul people, there to start a fight. And the man who started the “camera war” turned his head away and would not salute the flag nor say the pledge. This reporting is sad and I am very disappointed in the Blaze for their one-sidedness. My respect for them has not been helped by this article.

Posted on March 19, 2012 at 12:01pmThis is not a division within the Republican Party or Caucus, Pault@rds share about 90% of their platform with the Marxist left and are allies with the left so they are not to be viewed as a disgruntled splinter of the right. The only difference between a Pault@rd and a commie leftist is that the leftists want a massive left-wing tyrannical government while Pault@rds want that same “Do whatever I want” world the leftists think they will get with their Big Leftist Government, but they want it with No government…in other words anarchy. When a Pault@rd is in your caucus you have to view them the same way you would view a Dem or Obama supporter within your caucus, as an enemy who is infiltrating you and trying to bring the party and country down.

“I am calling on all Paul supporters and all Independents to boycott the GOP this election if they continue to use election fraud in our voting process.”
Sure, guarantee an Obama re-election. I knew this was coming back when primaries were happening. Ron Paul Supporters were trying to stack delegates by staying late and getting selected at many of the other Caucasus’s. They are trying to usurp the delegates without in many areas without having a majority of the votes in the primaries.
Instead of talking about coming together, you Paulites want to talk about disenfranchising. What was the last state popular vote that Paul won?
He couldn’t win Virginia with only him and Romney in the race.
I appreciate what you stand for with your support of Ron Paul. But there is something called being a sore loser. The Paulites are showing more and more on how sore they are. I understand your position, but ya‘ll aren’t making friends with the GOP either. The Progressives are winning this fight and you and the GOP are helping. Both sides of the Right are not wanting to give a fraction to the other.
We all will suffer for this in the end with our liberties stripped and our country in tatters.

Posted on March 19, 2012 at 3:04pmLet me also add… Just because Robert’s Rules of Order says you have the right, doesn’t make it right.
Rights are fickle things. They are okay unless they infringe on another’s. Much like the Media has a right to a free press. However, their is great responsibility with these rights. The same goes with the request of filming. It is not in the Rules of Order, but Robert never had a video camera. It is up to the leadership of the Caucasus and the GOP rules. I know the defense of Public Property, but you can’t just walk into the Supreme Court and film. It is forbidden. You have to respect the rights of others who as not to be record.
After all, I thought Ron Paul was for right to privacy. http://www.ronpaul.com/on-the-issues/civil-liberties/
You Paul Supporters are the same ones to speak about the over reaching arms of Government, but then you go ahead and break your own points when it is convenient to your cause? How nice of you to butcher your own talking points. It is a public forum, but why video tape private citizens that want to support their voice in a public forum? You can’t have it both ways guys… If it is not okay for government to violate privacy, it is not okay for you.
An technically, this wasn’t a public gathering as Democrats were frowned upon. While they do not say Democrats are not allowed, please note they would need to declare they are Republicans.

Posted on March 19, 2012 at 5:47pmAll you guys talking about Robert‘s Rules of Order obviously didn’t participate in your caucuses this year…the GOP decided to do away with Robert’s Rules this year and write a much shorter and more clear list of rules by which to govern the caucuses. (At least, this was so in my state, and my understanding was that it was nationwide.) Nowhere on that new list, by the way, does it state that recording equipment cannot be used during the meeting.
This is happening all over the place; in my precinct the chair definitely used unfair tactics to keep the Ron Paul supporters or young conservatives from having a voice. Given how much the older conservative generation bemoans the state of the youth, I, as a very conservative young woman, found that very frustrating. I would not use so strong a term as to say that the election was “rigged” but it was definitely biased in such a way that the nominations and voting process were unfair.

The Ron Paul Supporters had a voice in the primary. They lost. What they are trying to do is may it look like they haven’t been heard. I heard Ron Paul, I know his stances. We know how the population voted in the primary. What they are trying to do is stack the deck to disenfranchise what the populace requested.
Not to mention that Ron Paul ignored the primary on purpose, because they felt it did not count:
http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/the-fix/post/missouri-primary-results-rick-santorum-wins/2012/02/07/gIQA7tCkxQ_blog.html
Why is it important now? Why null the results of the primary? Please answer this with an open mind as to what your original complaint is. Your stance is hypocritical.

Everyone can not attend a Caucus (let alone one that lasts several hours). But they can cast a vote in the primary. What you are supporting is 100% Voter disenfranchisement, while claiming the disenfranchisement of a group that didn’t care enough to even campaign. Sorry, just stating the facts. Maybe once a few million starve they will see the error of their ways and embrace the constitution again… Other than that I see a lot of difficult days ahead for everyone, and being forced to fight against people who right now you think are friends. Don’t think the military is going to be on the side of the citizen either. Most people in the military don’t pay much attention to what is going on around the world, and just do what they are told. Posted on March 18, 2012 at 11:27pmYeah man, I seen some of this stuff before. I just don‘t see clear evidence it’s anything more than a theory. Then question the motivation. Did they look at the evidence without bias then come up with their theory, or did they have a suspicion and just used evidence to support what they believe to be true for the same old reason? It’s all second hand information from some dude I really know nothing about, there’s no citations to primary sources, etc. Surely a Ph.D. knows how to write a scholarly paper on the subject. At any rate, I don’t think you should jump to any conclusions. You’re not going to find any answers on the internet, that’s for sure. Like I said, it’s a theory. I can’t disprove it either. There are a lot of people studying it, and no one has found a smoking gun that disproves other experts’ theories.

You are being tricked into thinking Ron Paul supporters are a bunch of nuts or that Ron Paul’s ideas and positions are wacko?!? He has a track record that hasn’t faltered in his entire career – Lobbyists have stated clearly he is the only candidate they have ever encountered who couldn’t be bought. He is 100% in support of returning this country to what our founders created – a Republic. What you are seeing at these events are Ron Paul people following procedure, knowing the rules and those that are presiding over them are upset because they can’t hijack the process and keep Paul out. Posted on March 18, 2012 at 5:57amWe aren’t being tricked. The proof is in the pudding. I have a cousin who’s drunk the Ron Paul Koo-aid along with her husband. They‘d said that if Ron Paul doesn’t win, they are voting for Obama, or for Ron Paul as a 3rd-party candidate. Somehow, keeping the WORST possible option in the White House (Obama) is better to them than others who are to the right of Obama on the political scale. I cannot convince them that being a criminal for not having health insurance is worth getting Obama out for. Apparently, Obama’s war on Christianity (they are both devout Assembly of God folks) won’t touch them in their minds. They home school their kids, but apparently Obama’s “Occupy” movement‘s demands for the outlawing of home schooling isn’t a concern. They’d rather see the country collapse and die rather than allow anyone other than Obama in the White House (since even they know that Ron Paul hasn’t got a chance, though they delude themselves into thinking he’s a god of some sort).
What’s sad is that because the Cult of Ron Paul are so drunk on his Kool-Aid, they somehow believe him to be a god-like figure (remind you of Obama) who can do ANYTHING. Well, guess what? IF Ron Paul got into the White House, & IF he actually followed the constitution, he CANNOT dictate his policies be enacted.

Our own beloved GOP has a progressive agenda just like we all fear from Obama. You are all trying so hard to rail against Dr. Paul and it makes me wonder – Why? I saw Drago here make claims that my only reason for supporting Paul was to get illegal drugs. I see others posting the same old talking points about how Dr. Paul has such a horrendous foreign policy…. blah, blah, blah. You bought into those lines blindly – not the rest of us. Ron Paul wants States to decide on the drug war the way they see fit. He also recognizes all the different Government regulation, law and red tape that is sinking this country financially. We can‘t continue to sustain a ’War on Drugs’ the way it is now. As for Foreign Policy – get yourselves educated on what he says and stands for – it isn’t very hard as he is the only candidate with uh, oh – 30 years of consistency. He simply states ‘No War’ unless it’s been approved by Congress – Hey, Imagine that – a politician who wants to follow the rules. Does that scare you? He again, also recognizes we can’t continue to afford to police the World – Right, Wrong or Otherwise. Besides, what good are we going to be if we go bankrupt and collapse financially as a Nation. Where is the professionalism and where are people being equally represented, treated/defended here. I don’t personally believe from what I can see, that there was any real reason for the police to get involved so hard and heavy, no one seemed to be particularly dangerous, I think based on the rather ridiculous turnout of LE here that this was way overplayed intentionally for political reasons. We have been warned that the progressive movement has not only taken over the Democratic Party over the years, but also has infiltrated our own Republican Party too. Behind the scenes and not shown in the media, he has a huge following – The establishment is scared of him and to be honest, that should get everyone who calls themselves conservative to take another look and say, “This just might be the guy we have wanted and perhaps I should dig into what he truly represents and not buy what I’m being told”

If I am looking at this unbiased, I gotta ask “What exactly were they doing that ruined the meeting?”
Was it only their desire to film the event? You’ve got to be kidding me.
I mean, it almost sounds like the organizers decided there was too much Ron Paul influence being represented so they closed the meeting and reconvened without the Ron Paul support in order to get the same old Republican party politics pushed ahead while marginalizing the libertarian voice of the party. If that is so, then it really is a shame, but with this sparse of info, it is hard to tell.
The party isn’t about the RINOs vs Conservatives anymore if we want to survive. The RINOs are wolves in sheeps clothing and are a lost cause. They lose elections for us and vote against small, fiscally sound government whenever they see a pet cause. If they want to vote with the Dems when it counts, let them be Dems. Listen to Jim Demint, “The new debate in the Republican party needs to be between conservatives and libertarians.” We need to include libertarians in the debate instead of ridiculing them for their fervor. That being said, it would be cool if the Paulbots crank it down a notch or two in intensity.

Come on Republicans! A caucus is not a rubber stamp phoned in from above. You gotta follow the real rules of the meeting, and the person running the meeting should not be a dictator with an agenda. That is some communist party tactics to silence dissent and disenfranchise voters right there.
Whether the camera issue was or was not against the rules, it was pretty apparent from the videos that the chairman was not following Roberts Rules of Order. If your district doesn’t vote your way, so be it, but you must be fair about it!

Do yourself a favor and look up whose foreign policy closely resembles santorums. Hint: worst president in the history of US! (FDR) If we really understood that conservatism was founded on strict constructionism then we would kick the santorums and romneys out. I doubt anyone reading really understands these terms so I digress!

You must be kidding. Ron Paul couldn’t muster enough votes, even if he gave anyone that agreed to vote for him, a hundred dollar bill. Paul claims to be a Republican, but he’s not. He’s a Libertarian – an odd view of “we need less government, but “I” need to govern you all – because I know better than the rest of you. Ron Paul has been in the US Congress for decades, and never has even considered running for the Senate. The run for President by Ron Paul is a joke.
