A few days ago, we posted a video featuring frequent cable news commentator Marc Lamont Hill declaring that New Jersey Governor Chris Christie is to fat to win in the next presidential contest.
Today, he went back on WTXF-TV in Philadelphia. He didn’t exactly apologize:
Did you catch the even meaner insults?
“Someone who is that large, someone who takes up two slots on the debate dais is not going to win.”
And the apology didn’t ring true:
“I’m sorry Governor Christie if I offended you. We can get together and have a salad. Talk about this.”

Posted on November 15, 2010 at 11:47pm@dasmoondog, If you disagree with Dr. Hill, that’s your prerogative. If you think Dr. Hill was being discriminatory, please, let’s hear your argument, but kindly keep your ignorant racist bigotry to yourself. It is un-needed, un-necessary, and speaking for myself, unwelcome.
As an aside, are you one of the ‘Crash-the-tea-party’ crowd? I ask because your over-the-top display gives that impression.

Posted on November 15, 2010 at 9:40pmWell, El Marko Lamento Hill, there once was a man named Taft, who many had said was Daft. For he of great girth did wish to partake of an office his weight must deny. Old Billy campaigned by train day and night, but what was the point, why bother fight? Lamentos like Marko said the same thing, no fat man can ever, ever win. Yes, Christie is big and BIG is what’s needed, to march US forward to never give in!

Report Post »walkwithme1966
Posted on November 15, 2010 at 10:35pmTaft was before television – I venture to guess that many people only saw a picture of Taft before voting for him. There have been studies done on this subject. With todays media age of television etc, research has shown that a lot (not all) people vote for a person not only for the way they speak and their views on issues but subconsciously, on how they look. Look at all the people who have run for the president in the last 10 years, most of them trim and looking fit. Look at the primaries and the ones who are voted out the earliest – they are for some reason not pleasant to look at. It true! And I applaud those of you who say you would not take weight as an issue. Being that overweight is not healthy and I wonder what his medical record looks like? Does he have high blood pressure? You can’t tell me that those questions would not be asked if Christie ran for president. In a perfect world it wont matter but we already know this is not a perfect world. http://maboulette.wordpress.com

Posted on November 15, 2010 at 9:38pmI’m sure that if Mr. Hill had to share a segment with a conservative guest and commented about President Obama’s ears and commented that he needs to do something about them. Or someone makes a comment about Michelle Obama’s butt is as big as a tire. DO you think he would feel the outrage?

Posted on November 15, 2010 at 9:33pmI wonder if Hill will ever see the irony. He constantly complains about discrimination, racism… even in instances in which it did not occur… yet, he is so quick to discriminate against Christie with something equally superficial and irrelevant.

Posted on November 15, 2010 at 9:26pmI would vote for Chris Christie also but his weight is a real concern. (I am not in any way endorsing Marc’s comments, he was meaning to be rude, mocking, he is a progressive, I expect nothing less from him.) I am saying the position of President is high stress and he would be more likely to have a heart attack. Like it or not, he needs to lose weight for the sake of his health, not because it has an impact on his electability.
Report Post »HillCountryPatriot
Posted on November 15, 2010 at 10:15pmYes, being overweight can make you more susceptible to health problems; however, I believe genetics is the true reason people have heart problems. I’ve known three people in my life thus far who have died from massive heart attacks: all three were in excellent shape and one was even running a 10K and he dropped dead right in the middle of it. Tragic–and weight had nothing to do with it. I don’t care that Chris Christie is fat… he is a great leader… I’ll take my chances on his fitness for higher office.

Posted on November 15, 2010 at 9:19pmI suppose that if Governor Christie were a Progressive, Mr. Hill would be insisting that the Governor qualified for the Americans With Disabilities Act and needed all sorts of special accommodations and should win The White House based on his disability.
Sadly for Mr. Hill, Governor Christie is quite capable of winning The White House on merit and character alone.

Posted on November 15, 2010 at 9:28pmRight on the money, we indeed need to be reminded of what hypocrasy looks like in all of its evils, and darkness to keep away from it, and to have the truth shed in the light on all subjects. If Mr. Hill wishes to really debate someone, send him to Marine Boot, and see how long it takes him to start howling and complaining about how tough everyone is on him.
Now that would be a video worth seeing.

Posted on November 15, 2010 at 9:11pmThe Left always tells us who they are most afraid of. It’s the Republicans they go after with personal, nasty invective—-the shrill, deranged attacks. Personally, living in NJ, I know that Christie‘s conservative bona fides aren’t quite what the national mythos would have you believe. NJ is working to implement both Obamacare and Cap & Tax, and Christie isn’t doing anything to reverse course.
