Have You Heard the Calif. Gun Ad That Sounds Like a Puppy Adoption Commercial?

A holiday commercial that begins like an ad for puppy adoptions and ends like an NRA promo has created a huge sales spike for a California gun store.
PRK arms, a local gun store in Fresno, California, has made headlines with it’s unusual radio spots promoting firearms ownership.
The first advertisement plays off of the warm and fuzzy sentiments of puppy adoption commercials, but is really meant to find appreciative firearm owners. It includes the following marketing lines:
“They’ve been mistreated and misunderstood for generations… given these beautiful creatures a bad reputation… millions suffer from misuse and neglect… you can make a difference by giving a gun a loving home.”
As far as PRK is concerned, instead of taking in an abandoned Labrador puppy, why not wrap up a neglected .308 FN SCAR to put under your Christmas tree?
To bring the point home, the ad says, “these guns want nothing more than to adore and protect you… the kind of guns that needs a loving home more than anything else… don’t let a gun spend another night on a cold, dusty shelf.”
Here are more details of the buzz surrounding the spot, including a clip of the radio ad itself, courtesy of KGPE-TV:
You can listen to the entire “puppy adoption” radio here, courtesy of PRK arms:
This is not the first creative local radio spot that PRK has used to drum up business. Another pro-gun radio spot plays off of the “male enhancement” commercials that discuss concerns surrounding the, shall we say, procreative functions.
You can listen to PRK’s “male enhancement” radio spot by clicking here (content warning for mild sexual references).

Posted on December 13, 2011 at 5:44pmIt is really sad to see how the masses ( sheep ) have no idea how fun firearms can be. They are like tattoos they are addicting, the better you become hitting your target and the more improved you become with firearm safety it’s a win. Those lefties that vilianize firearms are truly missing out. Its a great family event. The side affects are much better than 99% of all prescription medications, you spend time with your family, you become safe, and you are fully capable of defending yourself, family and property. The Government is a much larger problem than gun owners. Most crimes committed with a firearm are done so by criminals, gangsters, rappers, or just plain stupid people. there are so many firearms in the average household and the amount of gun related crimes speaks for itself. Its about dam time the air waves open up for us law abiding gun enthusiast. Its our right, I am not even sure i agree that felons can’t own a firearm. What does a duo have to do with gun safety or owning a legal firearm. point is if you are a violent felon thats one thing but doesn’t say that in the Constitution.

Posted on December 13, 2011 at 8:38pm@ Jungle J,
Buy American? Really? Your pushing for people to buy American guns only. I don’t care where the guns come from, just buy them so that you can protect your family. While buying American would be great, the simple fact of the matter is that there are alot of better made and better functioning handguns from places like Austria, Croatia, and Brazil. Plus, just by buying a gun you are providing business to at least one supplier and a retailer. So every purchase puts money into the hand of 2 American businesses at least.
Personally, I own 2 savage rifles, one in each NATO cartridge (or close enough, .223/.308), a rem. 887, a mosin nagant, an XD9 (great gun, so great that my wife has claimed it as hers), a rossi .357 and an old Brazilian made single shot 12 gauge that my brother in law carved with the eagle, globe, and anchor on one side and my name on the other. All of them put money into our economy and made my home that much safer.

Posted on December 13, 2011 at 11:30pm@Charleyrocks… perhaps you should only lament the need for self defense tools rather than the tool used for it. You don’t have to worry about owning a gun, however- it’ll just make you gray earlier. Besides, it isn‘t ’owning’ a gun that helps you remain safe with it- it’s knowing how to use it and having it when you need it.

Report Post »You can always go live in the U.K or Australia where they have a 100% gun ban and high crime. Australia even has a knife carrying ban now because stabbings went way up after the gun ban. And you know what? There are still gun crimes and stabbings which happen in those two countries by the criminals preying upon unarmed, lawful citizens. And what’s worse, in the U.K. if you kill someone in self-defense, you get charged with murder. Don’t forget, the gun is an instrument for killing; it’s the user who kills. Societies will always be plagued by criminals who kill for one reason or another, whether by stone, stick, knife, sword, gun, laser. Better to be armed against such types than have nothing at all.

Posted on December 13, 2011 at 4:12pmI thought the ad was great.
But what is a “AK47 style gun”? An AK47 is literally an automatic Kalishnakov. I actually believe every law abiding non-felon should have the right to own and possess in his home a registered automatic weapon. But if the gun isn’t a real automatic kalishnakov is it only LOOKING like one while being just a semi-automatic? Is it just to bluff the enemy?

You are misinformed regarding the AK47 rifle. While the name AK stands for Avtomat Kalashnikova invented by Mikhail Kalashnikov, and Avtomat does mean automatic. However the rifle has always been select fire, meaning it could shoot semi auto or full auto.
Now because that rifle design has been proven so durable and effective it has been copied by may and sold under other names (see SKS, Saiga, Norinco, etc.).
Furthermore because of the gun laws in America most of the AKs and clones out there are semi auto. Personnaly I do not mind owning a semiauto AK type rifle (mine is a Saiga 5.45) full auto gets expensive quick when you’re at the range. But I also agree that we law abiding citizens should be able to get full auto firearms whenever we want.
So NO a “AK style gun” does not mean we are bluffing, it just opens the door for clones, which in some cases are better than the true AKs.
Books arent only for burning, try reading one.

Posted on December 14, 2011 at 4:01pmThe Walmart near my house just started selling Winchester self defense rounds (hollow point) in both .38+p and 9mm at a per round price that pretty much matches what I pay in bulk off various internet sites. I can‘t wait to put a few of these rounds down range to make sure they don’t make my puppies throw up or crap themselves! I‘m pretty certain my pups won’t have issues digesting them, but it would be quite irresponsible IMO to carry a new round without having field tested it in my specific puppies first…
On a side note, and I do realize this is not the right forum but it’s worth a “shot”, does anyone know where someone can get a replacement slide spring for a Walther p22 Compact???
