Have You Seen the Axe Body Spray Commercial Telling Men to Ditch Their Girlfriends for Strippers?

There’s a new ad for Axe body spray making the rounds in Argentina, and it’s a doozy. Its message, in a nutshell: Men who wear the spray deodorant should ditch their lame girlfriends (in the middle of a date) to go party and have sex with strippers.
Here it is:
Gawker provided this transcript of the ad so non-Spanish speakers could be sure not to miss a single word:
Last September 24th it was Boyfriend’s Day.
What does Axe have to say to boyfriends?
Hey, dude. There’s nothing to celebrate.
We know you want to be with all of them, except with the one you’re with.
That‘s why we set up some secret installation in the men’s room,
And gave them 5 minutes of singledom.
Welcome to the Axe Strip Toilette.
This is just a way of reminding guys that they are “castrating themselves” [Ed. note: Down here when you say a guy is "castrated," it means he only does what his girlfriend/wife says.]
…limiting the power of the Axe effect to just one girl.”
Girl: What took you so long?
Guy: The restroom was a mess.
Girl: Oh, sorry to hear that.
On a related note, a different ad for the company has been banned in South Africa after a Christian complained that depicting “angels” (scantily-clad women with wings) falling from the sky in their attraction to a man wearing the deodorant was offensive.

Posted on October 28, 2011 at 7:50amJust a commercial? And what is a commercial? It’s a 30 second spot written by people designed by psychologists and sociology experts to attract your attention and sell you something. In other words…manipulate. The Pentagon has spent a great deal of fortune in its existence trying to figure out how to program people into doing what they normally wouldn’t do.
No American male is going to dump his girlfriend and marry a stripper because he sees this commercial once. It’s not designed for that. It‘s designed to work on the male and female psyche’s over a period of weeks. In other words…brainwashing.
There are obviously people who believe this commercial can reach the personalities of our sons. If they didn’t believe it, they wouldn’t have made it. Is this how you want America’s sons to be? How would our ancestor’s have seen something like this? What would they have thought about their children or themselves viewing it 10 times a day for 30 days? If that isn’t an attempt at brainwashing, I don’t know what is. It works for monkeys, why not people.
It’s much more than just a commercial.

Posted on October 28, 2011 at 9:13amNot only are you one of those people who takes this far too seriously. You’re also a conspiracy nut. This commercial aired in Argentina, so the chances of it effecting America’s sons are extremely limited. And as for our ancestors are concerned. They didn‘t have TV’s and they’re dead, so it doesn’t really matter.

Posted on October 28, 2011 at 9:29amYou got me on the commercial airing in Argentina. I missed that part. In response to what our ancestors would have thought of this…just because they didn’t have televisions (unintelligent remark) doesn‘t mean they didn’t have access to racy material and it doesn‘t mean they didn’t have standards. Their opinions can always be helpful for a little perspective on today’s social ills and I believe that even you would see that if you had given your response just a few more minutes time and thought.
In regards to you accusing me of being a “conspiracy nut” check out psychology magazines on the issues of behavior modification through television. You can also check out MKULTRA. I suggest you leave the name calling for another web site. People here tend to have a little more respect for one another’s opinions.

Now as far as unintelligent remarks go you beat me on that one. “Their opinions can always be helpful for a little perspective on today’s social ills” You realize you’re talking about dead people. They have no opinions and no perspectives. Especially on current economic and social issues.

Posted on October 28, 2011 at 9:59amIt has been my observation over the years that a good number of old and young women in the US have a rather screwed up and self serving view of what is sexy, rather than to consider what men actually think is sexy. Good example is the single moms and profession women who get implants and then say they bought them for themselves. Actually most men see them for what they are, FAKE and in most cases are rather obvious. Seems that these women fall into the notion that Madison Ave. defines what is sexy and that sexy is more visual than attitude and action. Two things that fake boobs don’t fix.

Posted on October 28, 2011 at 10:16amI’m beginning to think that you may not have as much intelligence as I originally believed.
Anyone can extrapolate what a persons opinions would be whether dead or alive based upon their quotes and upon their actions in life. When I read Abraham Lincoln speaking of morality and his life’s actions confirmed his belief in such words, I can get opinions from that concerning this situation.
I guess that’s all too much for you as well as the other facts I laid out about behavioral modification in our own history.
You have become a waste of my valuable time. So long.

Posted on October 28, 2011 at 1:41pmG.E.R,
It is a commercial, but it is more than just that, even if only in Argentina. In case you have not noticed, the world for better or worse is more international now than ever. So isolation by geography has limited worth in this discussion.
Now, I will assume from your perspective, you are single and likely a young male, because if you had a daughter, or loving wife you might see the insidious danger this message presents.
Yes, it can be ignored, but what about the image it sets for young girls about men? It makes men look like selfish philanderers, and it encourages that as well.
It makes promiscuous women look appealing and wise, and the faithful women look stupid, another problem of great importance.
Even with otherwise established and healthy relationships, this image can add to existing tensions by planting a seed of doubt for both the men and women on what they should pursue for happiness.
This is dangerous for society, and if you study what is happening to culture in South America, you can see the problems that this is creating. They are on the road to demise of their society, as are we, because the family and the foundation of the family is under attack, this add is an attack on the family, because it seeds doubt and contention between couples, THAT is why it matters.
I don’t expect you’ll get this now, but if you ever get married and have children, your perspective may change, MINE DID, as did many others.

Posted on October 28, 2011 at 2:22pm@DECADE7 How can you possibly say anything about our ancestors morals. If anything, there was only a short blip in our humanity when sexual display deemed inappropriate and that has been, for the most part, limited to white protestant Americans in the last two hundred years, and also Catholics. But even then, there was a pretty thriving world of seedy and sexual behavior. Even our forefathers were a part of it out of the public eye. And this all is happening in a culture where nudity is shameful but using sex to sell is ok. It’s ok to show sex on TV, as long as there is no “nudity.” What are we teaching America’s sons then? Be ashamed of yourself but have as much sex as you want. I will say, however, that this commercial fits right in line with that culture, even though it’s outside of America. Problem or not, our ancestors moral legacy is what set up a culture that produces commercials like this in the first place.

Posted on October 28, 2011 at 3:14pmyou are a bit of a conspiracy nut… you give commercial production a little too much credit… i’ve seen these commercials made from the ideas and sketches, to the execution, filming and production. psychologists and sociologists aren’t involved. i couldn’t say they are “never” involved… but in the 100 or so i’ve seen produced, not once has psychologists intervened or been consulted. There are marketers, creatives, artists, copywriters, photographers, and directors involved. and thats about it. there are things we all generally know, like, men like to see attractive women, and men respond to humor… but its not exactly rocket science.
Also, “have you seen the axe body spray commercial telling men to ditch their girlfriends for strippers?” really. how about “have you seen the website that takes commercials literally and then reports it as news”.

I know men would not like seeing other men in a Speedo thong on almost all commercials. And I don’t like seeing women half naked in 80% of commercials. I really do not want to see any of it at all but they’re not going to stop until they get full blown porn on all commercials and TV shows

Posted on October 28, 2011 at 8:26amMale strippers are gay. If they have sex with you its for money. Higher likely hood they have GRIDS. Gay Related Immune Deficiency Syndrome. That is the original name before the PC crowd wanted it to change. You see its anal sex that causes GRIDS. The gay community in California threatened to flood the blood banks with tainted blood if the term wasnt changed from GRIDS to AIDS. HIV concentrates in protein, semen, and needs access to an open wound. Anal sex provides this access to the blood stream because the act is unnatural and not suppose to occur. It doesnt make a baby.

Posted on October 28, 2011 at 6:57amThis ad is suggesting more than it seems. It reveals a thought process all females should be aware of and all men should be cautious of. Is implies two things:
First, that decent women should lied to and mistreated if it‘s convenient to do so because they’re gullible.
Second, that immoral women should be used and tossed aside.
The modern industries of today are breeding a whole new kind of male cat. I feel sorry for the females a generation from now. They’ll feel they will have to be sinister and immoral to keep their men.
Things are getting worse all over.

Posted on October 28, 2011 at 7:33amThat’s pretty good, you hit the nail on the head. Quite honestly, as a single, 36 year olds male, I swear that women want a man that lies to them. Makes up stuff they can dream about about, one who isn’t realistic or rational. I am not kidding. I notice this especially at college. The main reason I know this is because I am in recovery, have been for a over a decade. The way I was before then was completely different than I am now. Since I am not willing to play the game, sell a person who I am not, and instead just be straight forward and realistic about life, makes it quite difficult to date. Even amongst the good girls. Society is whacked, it has been coming apart for years.

Posted on October 28, 2011 at 9:48pmI’m not so sure anymore. Women seem to think it has only to do with a moral problem. They whine about men only wanting sex, but expect their men to admire their looks, only to get annoyed if he actually drools over the love of his life. He doesn’t get his needs met, the woman dismisses his sexual needs, his attention drifts, but he is the villain. Man does something stupid, loses wife, loses kids, loses income, but woman considered “victim”.
In this day and age a lot of women act like they enjoy sex but also use it as a way to get their man. Once they’ve got him, they take him for granted, dry up, and he’s left with a woman he loves, but isn’t getting any. Sure, a married man has a responsibility to continue to date her, but there are way too many women who use sex as a trick, in essence, man-bait.
I am not sure we should feel sorry for women in this next generation. They‘ve reaped what they’ve sowed.
Women today are largely responsible for creating the men they love to criticize. They feminize their men, then treat their men as if he can do nothing right, and finally, too many women don’t keep their men happy. Men get cranky when they’re not getting enough sex. Men are very easy to figure out, but women don’t care about that. They’re only interested in their own needs or those of the children…never mind the man.
Why are so many women are mystified as to why infidelity and divorce is such a problem in today’s society?

Think about it for one minute- your man gets eye candy vs. your bathrobe scene, they listen to his time consuming bragging/bitching, they flash some skin, and send him home. So he’s gone for two hours, you get your long bath, chat with your friends, watch your chic flick, whatever, then he gets back & whola- as the old saying goes “if you love something set it free, if it comes back it’s yours, if it doesn’t it never was”.

Posted on October 28, 2011 at 3:46pmI don’t think he was saying that at all. I believe he was saying he is a sinner and he knows he falls short of the Glory of God. And since there is only one Man who was perfect he was hung on a cross and because he know no sin he was raised on the third day and defeated death. If there is any one who says he does what God wants 100% of the time is a liar. We strive to live according to God’s will and sometimes we fail. The bible says a righteous man falls down 7 times and gets back up. Don’t twist his words or think that there is a single man who is walking in the spirit all the time. Maybe i‘m wrong but here is a man saying he is trying to do God’s will. He would have gotten it from either side if he said he did it 100% of the time some of you would have said you lair you trying to say you are without sin or if he said he tries to live according to God’s will most of the time people like you come on here say he is a hypocrite. Maybe understand the Bible before you start to speak against another man’s honesty.
