Have You Seen the First Ever Double Barrel .45 Caliber Pistol Ready to Hit the Shelves?

What do you get when you merge two .45 caliber pistols into one with a sleek new design?

A whole lot of compact stopping power, also known as the Arsenal Firearms AF2011.

Have You Seen the First Ever Double Barrel .45 Caliber Pistol Ready to Hit the Shelves?

The folks over at the Firearms Blog found this incredible new design created by Arsenal Firearms, who provided these photos and the video below.

The AF team is clearly proud of their achievement, writing on their site that:

“To commemorate the legendary Colt 1911-A1 in the Centenary by making a true industrial market-ready double barrel .45 caliber pistol. We achieved success in the brief span of 6 months, after intense and round-the-clock 3D designing, stereolithographic modeling and parts machining.”

This is not an entirely new concept, and there have been many other double barrel pistols created in the past. In fact, ten years ago a Swiss armorer named Vivian Mueller cut and welded together parts of the storied Sig P210 for a similar effect. He successfully created a long slide, double barrel 9mm pistol that shot well. But the AF 2011 is the first time two pistols have been welded into one in a design that is shelf-ready and meant for sale.

Have You Seen the First Ever Double Barrel .45 Caliber Pistol Ready to Hit the Shelves?

That’s right — this model can be produced and sold in a mass market instead of just one-off collector pieces.

Now you may be wondering how the AF 2011 performs. Sure, it looks cool, and it certainly can throw rounds downrange, but what kind of patterns can it put on a target?

According to the AF team, the double barrel 2011 shoots cleanly and with good-enough accuracy:

“The gun can be handled by any shooter… [and] holds amazing and surprising target performance for the shooter: in fact, it will group all the 8 double .45 caliber rounds (16 bullets) held in the duplex, single columns magazines, in a target of the size of an orange at 15 yards and of a water melon at 25.”

Have You Seen the First Ever Double Barrel .45 Caliber Pistol Ready to Hit the Shelves?

Whether you think you have room in your collection for the AF-2011 or not, you probably want to see this amazing piece of gun craftsmanship doing what it does best. So below is a video that gives you the full effect of the AF2011.

Right after he finishes off some shots, the test shooter in the video describes the stopping power in his hands:

“This was 8 double rounds…. in other words, it was 4000 grains of payload sent downrange in about 5 seconds. to achieve the same result with a single barrel 9mm pistol we would need to shoot about 30 rounds, with two changes of magazines, in about 30 seconds.”

As described on the AF site, “it will knock down a bull.”

Check out the video of the AF 2011-A1 in action on the range, via YouTube:

And in case you wanted even more specs from Arsenal Firearms:

“The AF2011-A1 can be ordered either with 2 independent triggers and one sear group (left or right, with user-interchangeability for right or left operations) or with 2 triggers permanently joined and the choice of 1 or 2 sear groups. The AF2011-A1 is available in mirror finish Deep Blue or with a 3400 Vickers surface hardness White Ash Nitrite coating.”

Nope! Don’t need it. I only need a .45 with one barrel and one shot.

If you can’t hit your target with the first and only shot then you have a serious problem.

Yes, I am that good. It didn’t come easy either. Years and years of shooting and training.

Well now see when you‘re really good you don’t need one at all, because one person will clobber another who will get clobbered by another over and over millions of times. Because more or less you will be clobbering each other over having things.

Those who live by the sword will die by the sword. The only way one can survive a catastrophic collapse is to have nothing. Even to the point of stripping down butt naked so people don’t think you are hiding something in your clothes. That’s why the Bible says: pray that it doesn’t happen during the winter.

It appears to be intended to do serious injury to someone wearing body armor. The shock of impact of two 45cal bullets hitting body armor can break bones and damage organs from the shock wave even if the bullet does not penetrate the armor.

Let’s see… if you were to engage 10 targets with this thing, you would need at least 20 rounds. Sounds like Government math to me. I’ll take a single stacker for multiple targets any day over this piece. And if I want to knock a bull off it’s feet, I’ll get me something that will actually do it. Oooorah!

Too many moving parts, too much to go wrong. Twice as much opportunity to malfunction. High maintenance. Waste of good ammo. This is a toy for folks who think they have everything. Something for which to show off. Bragging rights. Impractical in a real life and death setting.

In a real firefight, if you had to load magazines, you had better have identical numbers in each side or she likely short strokes and gets you killed. Too many negatives. But it looks cool!

Looks like a small version of my grandfather’s 8ga Coach Gun he carried as a Tx Ranger. He gave it to my Dad, and my dad gave it to me just before i hit Vietnam. The 8ga double O rounds he sent to me inside a case of Mother’s Oats (oat meal in round containers – 8 per case. Four Mother’s for the shells and four cases for a beautiful amber liquid made in KY by brother Jack Daniels. The 8 ga was great in the boonies. The other liquid gold was great in the “rear” – what others called far forward, we called the rear. Long story short – I want one, but am happy with my Colt stainless Series 80.

Key word is “Live” by the sword! They are cut down with the same and by whom? The righteous among us, police, military used for the just War etc. We don’t LIVE by the sword which means going around taking from others so one does not have to work for his meal, property etc. Those who do LIVE by the SWORD will be stopped by others because the laws of justice and what is right are written on the hearts of men.

I also had my 44 mag super redhawk for AK and a 357 101 just in case and two speedloaders for both. Revolver only no semi’s due to misfire/frozen slide. Could not bring my 375 H&H bolt that was preferred, so was a little worried, but lucky no close mama griz encounters. Most beautiful state, thought it was impossible to beat Bozeman or Jackson Hole.

Put a picture of that on your back door, and see if anybody is stupid enough to enter! I would say it is not for the squeamish. Is it practical….probably not, but it sure would scare the piss out of an intruder. Wonder if it has a single or double laser site?

why not just have two 1911″s, one for each hand. shoot them at the same time. two 1911′s would more than likely be cheaper. remember 1 is none, 2 is one, 3 would be better.

Why didn’t they show the target, to prove it’s accuracy?
It had so much recoil (kickback) that I don’t think it would be very accurate.

Flinch or anticipation of recoil and trigger pull is a much bigger accuracy factor then actual recoil as the bullet leaves the barrel. Most of the kick is when the bullet leaves the barrel.

I’m with you. One .45 bullet per person is plenty for shooting people. They say “it will knock down a bull,” but that’s about the closest thing to a practical purpose I can think of for one. If you have the foresight to remember to carry this monster, you should have the foresight to not get in front of a charging bull or too close to a grizzly bear for a rifle shot.

That‘s very impressive but it would probably break a normal man’s wrist. I think it should have a rifle stock so it breaks your shoulder instead. I think a belly gun in most situations would be easier to handle and would do the job unless you were hunting for buffalo or bear.

If you have ever shot an AR-15, now thats impressive. The look alone would scare, the noise would terrify and the accuracy would seal the deal if needed. If you miss, you got 29 shots to go. Just one thing people….if you have one and have an intruder, it only takes one shot. Its hard to justify in a court case that you had to shoot the intruder 30 times….reloaded with another clip….get the picture? I now feel secure at home and prepared if necessary for Zombies, libterds, ********, liberals, communists, Mao and Cha wearing tshirt morons, socialists, spit spewing angry mobs and OWS attackers.
