Have You Seen the New 120 MPH Electric Motorcycle ‘The Detonator?’

Electric motorcycle technology, like that of electric cars, is on the rise. But have you ever seen one like this yet?

Parker Brothers Choppers Creates Detonator and Light Cycle Designs by Daniel Simon

The Detonator is an all electric bike based on the design by Daniel Simon, the designer of the Light Cycles for “Tron: Legacy,” and manufactured by Parker Brothers Choppers. Wired has more on the bike’s specs:

It’s got a 30-inch front wheel and dual 96 volt electric motors in the hub of the 27 inch rear wheel. The e-bike is powered by lithium-ion batteries, and charges in an hour when plugged into a 110 volt outlet. Parker Brothers estimates the bike has a 80-100 mile range when fully charged, and it’s been bench tested to a 120 mph top speed.

According to Simon’s website, his original design for the Detonator motorcycle is a “plasma-combustion street cruiser exclusively for non-human droids, able to bend their legs opposite way. The design of the bike was tailored towards their unusual proportions, although occasionally human models were used to pose with stationary bikes.” The Parker Brothers version will cost you $100,000.

Earlier this year, Parker Brothers Choppers also brought Simon’s Tron: Legacy Light Cycles into reality.

If you haven’t seen the Light Cycles in Tron: Legacy, get a load of them in this clip (naturally, the stream of light wouldn’t remain after the bike in reality):

Yeah, so yawn–This is the same kinda bike I drive to work every day. My other one has 7 wheels for driving upside down and runs on lithium hydrogen molecules (when I can find them).

Isn’t it just wonderful when people piss away time and money to create something completely useless!

Just a minute, that seems to be the goal of much of the new green movement….

I am sure someone in Hollywood will order one!!

ladies and Gentlmen, the Obamacycle… it takes 5 times more to make it than it’s worth, It doesn’t actually work, It’s ugly… just plain ugly…, and will cost twice as much to power it as you pay now, and it produces less carbon… a critical element that is necessary for all life on earth.

Please correct me if I’m wrong, but if it uses electricity to charge it , and most electrical power plants run on coal or nuclear energy, doesn’t that make it much worse than the average polluting motorcycle in the whole scheme of things, considering you have to use so much energy from these sources to charge it?

So they are basically saying you can have a non rideable movie prop for a platry $100,00.

Yeah, dog. This has the same problem electric cars have with me. A practical one, at that. I live in an apartment complex. I doubt they’d be willing to put the electric terminals in. That, and I’ve never had $100,000 in my hand or my checking account in the entirety of my life.

But hey, they can always be bailed out by the people who can’t afford to buy the motorcycles which will make them buy less motorcycles which will require more bailouts which will cause them to buy less motorcycles……..until there is no point in making motorcycles.

You won‘t afford it if it’s union made, and if it‘s gets made by slaves it will fall apart while you’re driving down the road just like a the Chinese products are beginning to do.

Of course the company can always execute the slaves for bad craftsmanship like they do in China, but then people will just eventually shutdown or find a way to flee.

You may want one, but where are you going to sit? There is no seat. Are you just going to fire it up and watch it go down the street without you? Plus, not a great buy if you can only go 80-100 miles before you have to recharge your battery. You could walk faster!

When TSHTF, that’s how we generate energy!

Imagine scaling up this little device to say, a garage full of car batteries or something… with a large DC motor from a fan or something… with some heavy duty bridge rectifiers, you could generate enough power to get off of natural gas, oil, wind, solar, whatever.

This is the perpetual motion machine, it takes a small input energy. It isn’t “free”, but it can run virtually forever…

Just don’t forget the Capacitor between the bridge rectifier and the batteries to smooth out the AC to DC transformation fluctuation…
