‘He Is Mocking People’: Krauthammer Takes on the ‘You Didn’t Build That’ Philosophy

The Obama campaign on Thursday saw it fit to accuse Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney of being the type of politician who will say anything to get elected because he, um, quoted the president.
Seriously, Romney quoted verbatim an excerpt from President Obama’s infamous “You Didn’t Build That” speech and the Obama campaign released an ad defending the president from Romney’s insidious misrepresentation [“That’s not what [Obama] said,” the ad argues].
As we pointed out yesterday, that is what the president said. Perhaps Team Obama would like to challenge Romney over context. Well, alright then. Let’s talk about context.
Let’s bring in conservative columnist Charles Krauthammer[ via Fox News]:

That is the process but the content here is utterly damning. I mean, Romney said it’s not a gaffe. A gaffe defined in Washington is when a politician accidentally speaks what is really in his heart. This is his political philosophy. And it’s elaborated. I don’t care about that one sentence, although I would say I disagree with Steve [Hayes] that one sentence as I just heard it, and as anybody looking at it would see in print, that you build, ‘that’ is a reference to person’s idea he built his own business. It is not a reference to roads and bridges.
But let‘s look at the whole context and let’s ignore that one sentence. He starts with a mocking reference to people who succeed believing it might have something to do with intelligence or hard work. Sort of laughing at them.
So he is mocking people, a Korean immigrant who works 16 hours a day in a candy store and he builds it and he sends his kids to college with that, you know, with the money he finally makes 20 years later. Or a physician in medical school, you know, who goes 60 or 80-hour weeks, works hard and then in his 50s, begins reaping the rewards of his work. That is number one. Secondly, everybody he says who helped you along the way. It’s no accident everybody in his example is an agent of the government. It’s either a teacher, or a road, or a bridge, or the internet, which he says incorrectly was invented by the government so we could create opportunities in the marketplace.
It’s all government. And this is his philosophy that government is the root of the success, individual and national and it’s not individual enterprise — he has to some extent to individual enterprise. But anybody who thinks it’s that, obviously is rewarding himself in a way that is undeserved, it’s the government. And that’s the heart of his philosophy. That is the real division between left and right in the country. That’s why Romney ought to hit it every day until election day.

They worked days, nights and weekends with no vacations. They worked on construction projects during the day and spend their evenings doing the books, billing for repair customers or reading blueprints and estimating bids for new jobs.
The nearest thing they got to government assistance was winning a contract on a school, hospital or other city or county project. If anything the government led to the eventual closing of the company because of OSHA and EPA regulations.
Sweet Old Barack is full of bull feces.

These men and women in his administration should be in the unemployment line come November, right along side of BHO, and they should NEVER be allowed to work for in the public sector again. They need to learn just how hard it is to make a buck in the private sector, so to learn to appreciate the private sector. I just started my own business and the amount of money it takes just to start let alone pay in tax is crazy. since i have started i dont get home til 11pm or later pretty much every night and work 7 days a week almost every week. a small business owner should get tax breaks. most employees dont pay a dime in federal income taxes! a lot of my friends pay $0 in taxes, actually pay negative, because they get money back at the end of the year. Walk a mile in a small business owners shoes and i dont think u will be talking like that.

I don’t vote party–I vote for the person I think is best qualified and most likely to abide by the principles on which this nation was founded. That said, I have seldom voted Democrat, because they seldom put up anybody who meets those criteria. For the record, I don’t like the Republicans much better, as they are often just as unprincipled and prone to ignore the Constitution, though NEVER, IMHO to the extent we have seen since that POS, the Great Eared One took office.
But after the outrageous trampling of the Constitution by THIS administration, I will NEVER vote for any Democrat for ANY office, local, state, or national EVER AGAIN, as, in my opinion, they have shown their true colors and proven they cannot be trusted with the power granted to them by being elected to public office.
Having proven themselves unAmerican and determined to undermine and destroy this great Republic, the current crop of ethically and truth-challenged Democrats should disband and slink out of Washington in SHAME for what they have done. And the Republicans should slink out in shame WITH them for failing to defend the Republic against that treasonous POS occupying the White House! He could not have done what he has done without their acquiescence.

Two things wrong with obama’s LIE about what he was referencing. The first is that the listener/reader would have to believe that a DIRECT reference within a sentence would yield to referenced items outside of the sentence/statement. The second is that “that” grammatically would not be appropriate for “roads and bridges” – he would have stated “those”. You would have to convince the world that the ‘smartest man in the room’ not only had his sentence structure incorrect – but you would also have to be convinced that the ‘smartest man in the room’ used the singular form “that” versus the plural form “those” when supposedly referring to “roads and bridges”…
But who are we trying to kid? Parents wouldn’t let their children get away with such dishonesty…

Mr entreprenuer doesn’t owe the government jacksquat for the existence of infrastructure.neither do the consumers. people buying and selling (aka the economy, stupid) are the impetus for the building of the road/bridge and the sustainer as well. being one of the movers of raw materials, i am happy mr. entreprenuer had the brains, drive, and initiative to start and grow that company and the discipline to grow it and not put the profit up his nose or into barry’s campaign.

Over the last several decades, the general attitude in America has changed from focusing on self-reliance, innovation, and bettering oneself to being complacent, blaming anyone but oneself for anything that goes wrong in life, and waiting for the government to “help” us in life.
It used to be that people busted their butts to get ahead in life. Now, a significant segment of workers do the absolute minimum required to earn a paycheck, and won‘t lift a finger past quitting time unless there’s overtime involved. Instead of doing their best for their employer, they use their employers time and resources to surf the web, yak with friends on the company phone, etc.
In the past, if someone was struggling they’d say to themselves, “I need to work harder so I can get ahead.” Today, a large portion of the population expects society-at-large, via the government, to bail them out if things go wrong. As one commentator recently said, “The safety net has become a hammock!”
No WONDER America is in decline! Instead of being a country of innovators an creators, America has become a country full of whiners and leeches! Obama wasn’t talking to those who want to return America to greatness… he was talking to those who want to suck MORE from society! “Hope & Change” has b

This further sets the stage for communism. If it doesn’t matter whether we achieve or not we will still be in the same boat why work hard. O is the perfect example of that, he knows that he did nothing to get where he is. He took his entitlement to the limit and now he is out to destroy the system he knows requires performance, zeal, incentive, and basically integrity to get somewhere in this country. If we allow him to continue there will be no America as we know it. Krauthammer, as a professional, surely can spot a narcissist, his critique is right on. Read about narcissism it will open your eyes about the one who runs our country.

But for how long after the slug is sent packing can we suffer the fools who elected him in the first place. The number of tax eaters will soon overtake the numbers of taxpayers. When that happens we are looking at a situation wherein the majority will have no “skin in the game”, bu still maintain the right to vote. At that point this country will circle the proverbial drain much like every other communist nation has since the concept was devised. I never thought I would be happy to be entering the later part of my life but, sadly, I am, as I weep for my country.

Adults know that reality is trickle down. If you tax the wealthy, they will cut back on their spending, hire less people. More people out of work, less money spent, the money cycle stops.
But, if you have less regulation and more incentives for the wealthy – they spend more – businesses hire more people – more people working, more money spent on products – more products bought, more business growth. When you get the private dollars to flow, you have a flourishing economy.
obama is building government. which means that citizens tax dollars are going to pay for more government employees. it is a black hole that sucks up America’s prosperity.
