‘He Looks Black’: NBC Launches Internal Investigation into Selective Editing of Zimmerman Police Tape

NBC has revealed that it is launching an internal investigation into the “editing process” surrounding the conversation between George Zimmerman and a police dispatcher (shortly before Trayvon Martin was shot), where Zimmerman appears to volunteer racial information.

Exposed by Fox News and Newsbusters, NBC played the conversation on the “Today Show” as: “This guy looks like he’s up to no good.  He looks black.”

The unabridged version is:

Zimmerman: This guy looks like he’s up to no good. Or he’s on drugs or something. It’s raining and he’s just walking around, looking about.

Dispatcher: OK, and this guy — is he black, white or Hispanic?

Zimmerman: He looks black.

Erik Wemple of the Washington Post noted:

The difference between what ‘Today’ put on its air and the actual tape?  Complete: In the ‘Today’ version, Zimmerman volunteered that this person ‘looks black,’ a sequence of events that would more readily paint Zimmerman as a racial profiler.  In reality’s version, Zimmerman simply answered a question about the race of the person whom he was reporting to the police.  Nothing prejudicial at all in responding to such an inquiry.

And it’s a falsehood with repercussions.  Much of the public discussion over the past week has settled on how conflicting facts and interpretations call into question whether Zimmerman acted justifiably or criminally.  That’s a process that’ll continue.  But one set of facts in the is ironclad, and that’s the back-and-forth between Zimmerman and the dispatcher.  To portray that exchange in a way that wrongs Zimmerman is high editorial malpractice well worthy of the investigation that NBC is now mounting.

      Next we will be finding out the video that showed Zimmerman’s nose with no signs of trauma was doctored. It is sad how quick people have jumped to conclusions on this. It may take months to get to the truth. The media is an abject failure in it’s stewardship of the Republic.

      This has gone on for a long time now, and is reflected by the dramatic decrease in the ratings and circulation of the major news networks and newspapers. They very subtly edit or omit a single word or phrase to suit there narrative; in this case white men are running about and killing blacks for no apparent reason.

      Well, it turns out Zimmerman isn’t “white” at all, rather he is half Hispanic, half Jewish. The major networks attempted to do the same thing with the Times Square bomber; “the suspect is a white male”, “it was only a matter of time during this period of political discourse…” etc.

      All one has to do is look at the FBI crime statistics to see the truth of what is going on. Roughly 13% of the population commits nearly 90% of the crimes. The greatest threat to black men, women, and children is young black men. However, by the media coverage and the feigned outrage by The Black Panthers you would never know that.

      I’ll be waiting with baited breath for Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, The Black Panthers and the rest of the hate-filled black supremacists to hold marches and rallies against black men from senselessly murdering so many black men, women, and children year after year.

      It was blurred and lit in such a manner as you could not see the trauma. I clarified, softened, lit it up, filtered it and resized it and it show a great deal of pounding. The nose does look very swollen, a hugh bruise on side of his head. Eyes turning black, the left one less so at the time than the right one. His face has knots from swelling on it. Yes, it was made to look like he was not injured. The fact is, he was seriously pounded. No doubt he was terrified he would lose that weapon to his attacker and felt he had to shoot or be dead himself. Most anyone would have done what he did had they been attacked and had a gun that could have been used on them.

      When as a Marine I was stationed at Iwakuni, Japan. One night when walking back to town there was a distrubance that I was unaware of. I was walking down a road going back to my barracks when I saw a larger group of people marching in formation.

      I noticed that they were all black males and I thought that if I got off the road and ignored them all would be good. Well as I turned my eyes to the left to avoid them I was hit in the face as hard as I think I have ever been hit. I felt the jar from head to toe although it was not hard enough to knock be off my feet.

      My immediate reaction was to take off running. I ran to a street light because I got mad and stopped. They surrounded me in a large circle. I looked at them they looked at me. I said this to them. You have me outnumbered and I don’t think I can fight all of you.

      The point being is that my black eye did not show up until the next day. If you looked at me the night this happened then there were no bruises. It was only the next day when the Commanding Officer looked at me and questioned me that it was made an issue.

      ABC covered up the shot of Zimmerman’s head with a graphic when they showed the police video of him coming into the station. which concealed the view of the laceration to the back of his head. There are a couple of still shots that show the laceration to his head. His brother said he had been treated for injuries before being taken in and they cleaned up the blood on him and also noted that his nose is swollen in the video. Take a look here;

      Case and point.

      The only reason Zimmerman and Martin confronted one another is because Zimmerman perused after being told not to. It doesn’t matter what Martin did, if some guy was following me in the middle of the night I would fight him too.

      Zimmerman did not act in self defense, he was seeking confrontation AGAINST the police orders. Arrest him.

      It wasn’t a police order. It was a 911 dispatcher making a suggestion. Also, he had returned to his SUV when Martin (allegedly) ambushed Zimmerman. If Zimmerman’s statements hold any water at all, Zimmerman was not pursuing Martin. Martin was pursuing Zimmerman prior to the shooting.

      @VoteBushIn12 A dispatcher saying “We don’t need you to do that” is a far cry from a police officer ordering him, “Don’t do that.”

      You would do well to listen to Zimmerman ‘s entire 911 call before crucifying Zimmerman. It’s over 4 minutes long, and after the dispatcher said “We don’t need you to do that”, Zimmerman said “Okay” and stopped. A few seconds later, he said, “He ran.” He then spent the next 90 seconds coordinating with the dispatcher where the police could meet him. If he was still following Martin, how would he know where he would be for the police to meet him?

      Wait. So the 911Responder on the phone asks, “White, Hispanic, or Black”, to which Zimmerman replies, “Black”. And now NBC judges he’s a racial profiler by that answer? He just answered the gosh darn question.

      It sounds to me he had legitimate concerns about a individual who appeared to him to be no good, after a series of break-ins in that neighborhood. To me a “racially charged” phone call would have started with the color of the skin, but the 911 Responder had to ask.

      I also share a cubicle at work with a fellow officer who is Hispanic. I asked her if she had ever heard of the term “White Hispanic”. She said until this case, never. Interesting how the Liberal MSM is so bent on laying this on the shoulders of someone White that they create out of thin air a new term, just to get White in there somewhere.

      I remember having a discussion about why black youth have so many problems. The answer I gave at that time was, before blaming everyone else in this society, the first ones to place blame upon would be black men themselves. In general, those men that grew up without a father figure are the ones that suffer the most. Either their father was never around, dead, locked up, or simply negligent despite having been around. That absence of a black male role model hurts the growth of black young men. You can talk about having a strong black mother all you want to, and you may have even grew up to be a responsible and productive adult. But that absence of a male role model defeats the upbringing of young men regardless of race. You can’t replace the “Male Experience” with “Momma’s Love”, because the two are unequal.

      You can partially blame the feminist movement for encouraging women to go it alone, to not worry about having a man in theirs or their children’s life. The fact of the matter is, there are complete differences between what a woman thinks a man should be, and how a man actually lives his life.

      Then you have the knuckleheads that just do whatever they think they can get away with. Despite their father having been there to help raise them the right way, there are those youths that do things that make you scratch your head and wonder “where did it all go wrong?”.

      Where are the EVIDENCE PHOTOS OF THE VICTIM (Zimmerman)? This doesn’t make sense–the back of Zimmerman’s head, or any other irregularity on his body or clothing, or his car for that matter, was evidence found at the crime scene. It‘s hard to believe he wasn’t photographed at the scene or at the station during questioning since they surely photographed the dead body as found. I don’t see how releasing these now would jeopardize the case going forward.

      If they’ve got the photos, they need to immediately distribute them. (Just, exclude NBC this time.) If not, Mister Zimmerman should do the country the kind favor of surfacing long enough for an interview or photos so all can see his injuries. Most nose injuries eventually blacken your eyes, and scrapes to the head take awhile to heal.

      Incidentally, if BLACKYB who posted earlier, can bring into focus visible injuries on Zimmerman on the tape, why can’t others?

      @Apple, That is the most correct thing I’ve seen anyone write about the problem. Kudos. In addition to the feminist movement, you can safely blame the government and the shift from giving assistance to widowed mothers to any single mother, whatever the reason. When we began providing incentive to NOT have a father around, the number of people who CHOSE to not have a stable man first marry the mother, than father the resulting children exploded.

      I’m reminded of the problem that happened some time back with elephants. Someone had the brilliant idea to separate all the older bull elephants from the herd. What followed was a dramatic increase in the young bulls killing rhinoceros. It was becoming epidemic. When they reintroduced the older bulls into the herd, the killings stopped. Boys NEED men to guide them into becoming men. No matter how good a mother is, she cannot provide the male role model NEEDED by both boys and girls. Until our culture reintroduces the strong male bull back into the family unit, the young will continue to target the rhinoceros.

      This is why I’m so dead-set against single people shacking up and/or creating children out of wedlock. I’m equally against anyone, straight or gay, creating children to fulfill their need and not considering what would be the best interest of the child.

      The hypocrisy in the media just keeps on getting bolder and bolder with their guarddog, the FCC, looking on happily. The FCC gets up in arms about a performer flipping the bird during the halftime show at the SuperBowl, but says nothing about the degradation of language being used nightly during primetime. This past week the Nothing but Barack Channel (NBC) and the Always Barack Channel (ABC) rose to the level of journalistic malfeasance. NBC’s internal investigation into the selective editing (read “spin”) on the 911 tape will result in, at best, a little tap on someone’s wrist with the excuse that they were under a time constraint. ABC’s release of the name and age of an eyewitness account rises above even that. Heretofore, whenever a juvenile was involved in whatever type of crime, it was simply stated that the person was a juvenile. Could ABC have a reason for releasing the name??!
      These 911 tapes, booking tapes and coroner’s report , I would think, are going to be used as evidence in the Constitutionally mandated trial, so who in the Sanford Police Department is releasing all this information? We are all aware that members of Congress have access to “insider” information, but have further details been released to say Rep. Maxine Waters that she can loudly proclaim that this is a hate crime? Where is Rep. Rush‘s moral outrage and indignation about the hoodie’d murder that took place in his own district this weekend?

      I laugh when I hear all the broke nose stuff. I have broken my nose in submission fighting, wrestling, and boxing before, and it not even bleed externally.

      Even if he had a bloody nose, how hard is it to clean a bloody nose prior to walking into the police interview room? It is as easy as wiping it off with a rag. Sometimes you get black eyes when you bereak your nose. Mine has been broke so many times, and rebuilt by surgery, that not much of anything happens.

      I think this incident is exactly what the WH Admin wanted. Another distraction from the real issues at hand which in fact plays right into what they need. They will only portray this guy as White because they need the racial divide. The WH would like nothing better than to create race riots all over the country. The media is actively is a willing accomplice here. What better reason to have a to declare martial law and cancel elections. Just find any reason to stay King as long as you can. B.O. is allegedly half white (how would we really know when we don’t even know where his real BC is?). Do you ever hear anyone or news outlet refer to him officially being white? They need as many distractions as possible so he can implement his agenda w/o anyone taking too much notice and unfortunately, this incident is perfect.

      Man ranger, you never fail to show off how stupid you are. It sounds like you are justifying homicide over the fact that he made bad choices as a high school student, which would make him like the rest of us. George stalked and murdered an unarmed kid, it doesn’t matter if he were white or black, a price has to be paid. And self defense will be hard to prove, being that he followed him around with a gun, he didn’t have to follow him around, in fact he was told not to. Bruises on his head won’t be enough proof. The other side has a dead body with so signs of a struggle.

      You want to talk about who looks “more guilty”, I put my finger on the gun toting, police wrestling, wife beating, lawless Zimmerman over the dope smoking High School football player any day.

      You’re right about one thing though, had Zimmerman been black none of this would have blown up… because Zimmerman would be in jail – like every other Black man that commits a crime. BUT, because he’s white, he’s given the benefit of the doubt; hence the outrage.

      It is shocking how the POTUS picks and chooses how and when to respond to incidents. He always seems to be there to stir things up but never there to quiet things down.

      He escalated the incident in Cambridge, MA during the Henry Louis Gates incident. He (or the WH) escalated things in the Shirley Sherrod incident. He fanned the flames of class warfare with Occupy Wall Street. And now he’s shamelessly fanned the flames of racial tension with the Martin-Zimmerman case.

      A good leader tries to be a stabilizing influence in a crisis – something our current president has never sought to be.

    Why am I not surprised that a leftist news outlet promotes the black racist agenda. I don’t watch TV News. I watch FOX for all my news coverage. I try to watch the other outlets, but the crap they spew raises my blood pressure and I surely don’t want to check out over them.

    They should fire the culprit and maybe we should boycott and write NBC‘s advertiser and tell them we won’t buy unless they sever ties with that racist news organization.

In fact, Fox news is in reality much worse than any of the other so-called main-stream media, its just that you, as a conservative, prefer the BS that Fox is serving up rather than the liberal leaning news channels. There are lots of memos, emails, and videos of Fox news executives incriminating themselves by ordering their on-air ‘talent’ [sic] to describe things in a certain verbiage or to outright lie. Mr. Samman recently admitted to lying several times when talking about President Obama. And Rupert Murdoch, and his Newscorp hacking scandal only scratched the surface. After the Newscorp investigation is finished I would not be surprised to see Fox News say bye-bye and goodnight forever unless the cable station converts over to a cartoon network or something similar!

    Holy crap! This is why you cannot believe anything that is reported. If you’ve ever been on a jury you know how hard it is to get the facts straight. Yet, people rush to judgement when they weren’t there. I have no idea of Zimmerman’s intent and neither do most people. It would be nice if it were that simple, but it isn’t.

      After listening to the actual 911 call Mr. Zimmerman made I think his intent was abundantly clear. He saw someone acting suspiciously and reported it to the authorities. His intent appeared to be to keep someone from becoming the victim of a crime in that community. Someone who is looking to kill someone just because they are black doesn’t call the authorities and ask them to hurry right over.

      Sorry Bob, NBC is a corporate business, an are not licensed by the FCC. Their affiliate stations all over the country are though. Would be interesting if they were investigated by another agency for maliciously distorting information to achieve a different outcome. Too bad that inciting to riot would not fall under the under the Interstate Commerce Clause.

One of the first things I did while talking to the police was identify them as black, acting suspicious, and entering a house owned by a white deputy sheriff.       Let’s keep in mind, this is not NBC’s first rodeo. aren’t they the ones about 6 mos ago edit the pledge or anthem for a spot in a big gold tournament or something of that nature? It was a huge to do and some low ranking slob got the blame for improper editing. I do believe God was edited out. once again I could be wrong, but pretty sure I’m not–I ust need to look up the specifics.

    This reminds me of the days when a handful of whites would lynch/kill a black for virtually the same thing…sorta getting weird. But this one is more than just a few people going after Zimmerman.     I shall wait on pins and needles, breathless, awaiting justice and NBC to have an epiphany. I think while they do an internal investigation, there are proctologist waiting to lend a hand.

    This is like the mob saying “Wow, corruption in the teamsters union???? We will help look into that ASAP. How could this have happen, we will find out who is responsible.”
