Hear Beck’s Comedic Tale: Neighbors Confront Him in Elevator…With an Obama Picture

Being a conservative in New York City isn’t easy, especially considering the metropolitan area’s overall lack of ideological diversity. As you probably already know, the region’s predominant political mindset can best be characterized as “leftist.” This morning, Glenn Beck shared a story on his radio show that perfectly embodies how bizarrely New York City liberals often act toward their conservative peers.

Following a discussion about the minimum wage in San Francisco, California, hitting $10.24 on January 1, Beck, Stu Burguiere and Pat Gray began talking about New York’s (both the state and the city) excessive taxation. This conversation merged into a dialogue about the city’s residents.

“This city is one of the greatest cities in the country,” Beck proclaimed. It’s the people who wreck it.” He proceeded to say, ”I am so done with this city…I can’t take it anymore,” which launched him into a story that perfectly illustrates both the ideological nature of the city’s residents and his reasoning for being “done.”

Glenn Beck Talks About Uncomfortable Elevator Ride With NYC Liberals

While waiting for an elevator in his apartment building last night, Beck says he encountered a man who was carrying a large package. After Beck said “Hello” to the man, an awkward conversation ensued.

“You know what’s in here?,” the man asked Beck, who responded that he didn’t know what was in the package. The man then jeeringly said, ”It’s a big portrait of Barack Obama.” Beck, tired from a busy day and not looking to engage the man’s antics, politely responded, ”Good, I hope it looks nice in your house.”

As if this exchange weren’t awkward enough, the man’s wife approached and made her own set of offhanded comments. Not expecting to find Beck inside the elevator, she apparently stopped at its threshold and said, “Ugh, we didn’t know you still lived in this building.” Then, as the elevator ride began, Beck says she stared at him like he was “an alien life form.”

Of course, the awkwardness didn’t end there. The man then turned to his wife and started telling her about how poked Beck about the package including portraits of Obama. The wife, apparently forgetting her own rude comments just moments before, said, “Honey, don’t incite. He is a neighbor.”

“Thank you for your Christian charity, ma’am,” Beck quipped as he told the story. ”I didn’t say anything, but I‘m like ’I can’t wait to get out of this city!’”

Listen to Beck tell the story, below, and find out what happened what the woman asked him if is supportive of Newt Gingrich’s candidacy:

Thats the Left for ya! They are good and everyone who does not speak their double talk are evil.

But Becks story and his telling it does not elevate him above them, in fact it diminishes the whole show I watched last night. What is in the heart of this man who tells us routinely its about restoring this and that and now restoring Love. If you are trying to restore Love the last thing you do is tell us what was really in your heart of hearts which should have been overcome with love in the first place. He is not in the right place nor the place where Jesus transforms the heart to be able to rise above the pettiness of such a story. Beck I was beginning to really believe you!

Hey SpeckChaser, I’ve been doing a lot of checking too, and best I can tell, the Founders didn’t want a monarchy of a few plutocrats who can buy every election, make all the rules and own the land and production of the country. And as far as I know, Christ didn’t say “the rich will inherit the world” or “give all your money to the rich and follow me” or “let the poor give what they own to the rich.” Do you really think the Founders wanted a country where all the natural resources of the country were funneled to the few, and the rest of the country – including you, my middle class or poor friend – had less and less, while the Monarchy of the rich have more and more? At what point do you and the rest of the country become so poor, and the tiny select become so rich, that you believe we have lived up to the promise the Founders made to give America, not to the average American, but to an elete few?

Where the does the First Amendment say that that “Freedom of religion” applies only to Christians and not to Muslims or those of other religions?

godlovinmom, I appreciate your post. You wonder why Muslims don’t renounce violence. But the do godlovinmom, all the time, every day. The sources you get you information about that simply don’t tell you that they do. CAIR, a group demonized here says, “The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) has consistently and persistently condemned terrorism and the killing of innocent civilians.” George Bush himself spoke about the peaceful nature of Islam soon after 9-11 and for the remainder of his Presidency, and made a point of achnowledging Muslim holidays.

You don‘t hear Muslims rejecting violence because the people you get your information don’t want you to hear it. Want to hear it yourself? There is probably a Mosque in your town right? Well, just walk in the door and ask to talk to someone about your concerns. Talk to a Muslim. Ask one.

GODLOVINMOM, have you read the bible? It says the same thing, “If your own full brother, or your son or daughter, or your beloved wife, or you intimate friend, entices you secretly to serve other gods, whom you and your fathers have not known, gods of any other nations, near at hand or far away, from one end of the earth to the other: do not yield to him or listen to him, nor look with pity upon him, to spare or shield him, but kill him. Your hand shall be the first raised to slay him; the rest of the people shall join in with you. You shall stone him to death, because he sought to lead you astray from the Lord, your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, that place of slavery. And all Israel, hearing of this, shall fear and never do such evil as this in your midst.” (Deuteronomy 13:7-12 NAB)

“Liberal … they have the brain power of a turnip”

The tax base of NYC has shrunk & all the lefties can do is say hallelujah.

The financial center is taking big hits due to the economy & malfeasance. OWS is not helping. The NYSE has competition across America & the rest of the globe. Without the financial sector, NYC looks worse than Detroit. There is a lot of infrastructure that needs upkeep.

      Liberalism is a mental disorder.

There was some recent research that suggested that people on the right consider those on the left as misled and naive while the people on the left consider those on the right evil. This is why they are rude to us. It’s tempting to be rude to evil people. If you could go back and say one thing to Hitler, would it be something nice?

Personally, I think this is another example of the right taking the high road. It’s wrong to assume people are evil simply because they see the world differently from you. Assuming they are misled makes no judgements about their character.

When that guy from Oakland talks about “bottom up, top down, inside out” he is overlooking a HUGE shadow for him and his ilk…the “inside” of this country is 80% normal hard working, tax paying citizens who just want to do their job, love their family and live their life.

When we are continually disturbed from our “pursuit of happiness”, eventually they will find out that what is “inside” is way better than what is on the edges(occupy folks) and this little “rebellion” will be put down, one whiny parasite at a time. They will hide themselves from the light of truth and we shall again be free to enjoy the perils of Liberty which freemen so dearly love.

Hey, don’t lump us in with New York City. OK, maybe SF and L.A. are like NYC, but California is a huge, huge state and there are lots of us here who hate the insanity as much as you do. Our problem is that SF/Bay Area and LA have the most people and they are genuine lunatics ( Hollywood is the worst of all, so why do people keep paying them?). The rest of us live quiet normal lives as a political minority in one of the most spectacularly gorgeous places in the nation with the most spectacular weather on the planet.

I know there are good people there who feel trapped amongst a majority of inner city lunatics. I can see how it would be hard to leave that paradise , but the politics in Cali is so screwed I would rather roast to death here in south Texas than be part of a state that is ruled by progressives. Been a big time GB supporter but he is missing the mark he is setting himself, maybe thats the problem. He is working to set marks/standards for love when they have already been done for us long ago. so when somebody is being: a complete snobbish weasel, downright rude, and openly trying to anger you, you would think positively of that person? with this sense of christian love?

Not sure how you arrived at the rant your wrote with the one person only saying She did not know he still lived there. But to answer your question…Yes..Don’t return bad with bad. Beck clearly is doing this via the radio and for what, for revenge. Sorry if the truth hurts, but like Beck I tell it like it is not what I’d like to believe it is for Becks sake or anyone elses.
