Hear Rush Limbaugh Blast Michelle Obamas Target Trip

First lady Michelle Obama picked up a few essentials from a local Washington, D.C.-area Target on Thursday. Radio host Rush Limbaugh didn't buy it. (AP Photo/Charlie Dharapak)

What did you think of first lady Michelle Obama’s “everywoman” shopping run to Target last week? Turns out Rush Limbaugh didn’t think too highly of it.

The radio host excoriated the trip in which Obama, clad in a baseball hat and sunglasses with a troop of Secret Service agents in tow, picked up a few items from the superstore.

“It has gotten so bad they had to send Moochelle out there in a Lady Gaga-type getup,” Limbaugh said on his program Friday. “What a phony baloney plastic banana good time rock-and-roller optic photo op this was!”

Limbaugh concluded the White House must have tipped off the Associated Press, who happened to snap a photo of the first lady pushing her shopping cart.

“You think the AP has photographers waiting outside stores for Moochelle to show up?” he asked. “Who do you think we are?”

According to the Chicago Sun-Times, an AP spokesman essentially confirmed their photographer had received a tip.

“Charlie Dharapak is a well-wired AP White House photographer with good sources,” he said.

Limbaugh also took issue with the items in Obama’s cart — specifically a bottle of Lysol disinfectant.

“They really need to send the first lady to Target for Lysol for the White House?” he asked. “We‘re actually supposed to believe that she’s out there buying Lysol?”

Limbaugh noted then-Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin was accused of “cheap opportunism” for dropping into a Walmart to shop during the 2008 presidential campaign.

    who care’s. She’s a woman and a mother. Just because she is first lady doesn‘t mean she’s obligated to dress classy at the store. She doesn’t look bad either, she’s dressed “casual” and even if they have maids at the white house to clean, maybe she doesn’t mind cleanliness either. Geez, I don’t see what the big deal is here, she’s just another woman. Rush Limbaugh can get over himself and retire in the old folks home.

      The THING here is that this was a SET UP PHOTO OP … if she wanted to show she is “of the people” she should have gone to BIG LOTS or DOLLAR GENERAL, FAMILY DOLLAR, etc.and shopped for food .. that is what many Americans are having to do to TRY to feed their families .. can’t even afford Target anymore!

      I notice she isn’t wearing her $35,000 worth of diamond braclets .. at Target that is!

      His point was not what she was wearing. His point was not what she bought. His point was that this was a staged thing. He used her outfit, what she bought etc. to make his point. You would have known that if you would have actually LISTENED. But you didn’t. You got so hung up om his sarcastic remarks about her clothes and her Lysol that you didn’t listen. Common mistake. He says things like that on purpose to tweak people like you, and you fell for it. You let him tweak you. You gave him the power to irritate you. That doesn’t make you look superior to him. Makes you look like you got played you like fiddle.

      I COMPLETELY agree with you. Private sector workers get paid way too little so that public workers can get a fat paycheck and flippin sweet benefits. I’m glad you think public sector workers should get massive paycuts and have to pay into their retirement and medical benefits like everyone else does. Kudos to you sir!

      You are right about that if you are talking about doing another “classy dressers of Walmart” video. Anybody with an IQ of over 10 can tell that she dressed that way specifically for the photo op. They do have maids there and I can tell you that people that have maids DO NOT go around behind the maids (especially in the White House) disinfecting everything after the maids get done cleaning. There are only two kinds of people that would fall for this clearly transparent photo op and pretense of lowering herself down to the “common people”. These two types of people are either gullible fools or someone that is so desparate to make excuses. I would have to say that you are one of those types would literally do ANYTHING to make excuses of moochelle. I bet you even swoon whenever you see her on tv. I wouldn’t say that you need to retire to the old folks home but could I recommend the nut house for you?

      Nope. This was not just another mom going shopping. This was a deliberately crafted bit of theater designed to portray the first family as in touch with the common man – part of the whole class warfare strategy that the Prez has been trying out lately. It was just very poorly executed and way too obvious. Rush called her out on it, but Blaze readers nailed it from the first report.

      Fine., it was a photo op.But FLOTUS probably needed some pantyliners, a couple of DVDs she’d been meaning to get, and perhaps a few items for Malia and Sasha.Why not get all that at target? Better than wasting taxpayers‘ money at Ralph Lauren or Tiffany’s. Or maybe you want her to shop at Family Dollar? Better she didn’t.       The First Lady is perceived as an elitist snob. The lavish trips and the photo last week of her wearing jewelry cuffs worth more than the average yearly salary of Americans does not help. I think she has the right to her wealth but she should not get upset if people do not appreciate her acting like a queen. This phony photo op to change people’s perception is cheap, arrogant and obnoxious. At least it is for those of us that have an above average intelligence level.

      If she was what is fast becoming the “every woman” of America, the FLOTUS would have been either:
      1) Lay-a-way shopping at K-Mart.
      2) Shopping at the “nice” Wal-Mart (as opposed to the third-world Wal-Mart in the more economically depressed side of town.
      3) Shopping at the local thrift shop.
      4) Catching the bargains at the end-of-season garage sales in Virginia,
      5) Dumpster diving.

      Sorry, but these days most common people are not shopping at Target. They are shopping at the Dollar Stores. And since the Obama Feds started investigating Angel Food Ministries, they are now also buying their food at Dollar stores!
      This was a Photo Op only. They are trying to say “Hey low life people down there, We hear ya. We are hurting too”….All I gotta say about that is BS!!

      What makes you think she was sent? Perhaps the trip was her idea. I can suggest 3 reasons: 1) she wanted to get out of the house without doing something really extravagant, like going to Nepal or Antarctica, 2) she wanted or needed a few items–feminine hygiene, school supplies, a Common CD, whatever, and 3) people would see her in an informal setting, doing something they do every day, and so would imagine her to be a human being, which she is, though of a superior sort.
