Posted on December 1, 2011 at 9:43pmThis from the OWS website,
Report Post »“ows is fighting back against the corrosive power of major banks and multinational corporations over the democratic process, and the role of Wall Street in creating an economic collapse that has caused the greatest recession in generations. ”
Taken at face value there is nothing in there about handouts or Mr. Smith and his Rolls Royce that he worked his butt off for. We have a great system of government…however… our lobby and ethic laws are flawed and pander to the rich, both persons and corporations. As with any large group of people you will attract some fringe players that try and derail the process for their own goals. I would ask that you seeek out information on the core values and goals of this movement. You may be surprised that you agree, or not.

Posted on December 1, 2011 at 9:14pmHonestly if more people would hear this and get off of work until they could do a bit better.
Report Post »I started work detasling corn. Washed dishes then decided to go to Wyoming to get a summer job.
I wound up walking miles to find a job washing dishes again . Cooking for 1200 people.
At that point I made enough money to buy a car.
Once I had a car I found a electrical apprentiship that made me 20 K the first year in 1981 .
Since that time I have lived well.
But it seems funny that people think that it vas all “luck”
I have worked so many hours to get to this point 72 hrs often to fix anything when younger.
It was fun.
It is just not luck it is work as he says.
Do the work in school or work like a dog .
Later you might think you should respect engineers and that nothing is free and that is what time should be spent on when young.
Well this honest story in a world of political correctness is a bit of fresh air.
Adam has hit the nail on the head and I am happy Glen found him for me to hear.
I hope he can come to the oil palace like Glen has I will go listen.
Thanks John

Posted on December 2, 2011 at 2:09amYes Loveline was epically profane and perfectly in sync with its target audience. Don’t diminish the truth of what he said because it is heavily sauced with profanity.
Adam Carolla is not a traditional social-econ conservative. From that rant he sounds like a live and let live libertarian. Do not follow him if you are a traditionalist. Only listen to him edited when you can find it. However, I’ll take a live and let live federalist society over an overbearing statist government any day.

Posted on December 1, 2011 at 7:31pmI agree, I was thinking the other day that the entire country, especially the youth, are incapable of feeling “shame”. I doubt any of the kids today has ever had a parent or grandparent say “Shame on you…” Everyone just got handed trophies and were told how wonderful they were….As evidenced by the horrific examples on the multiple talent/reality shows of today. Look how many of those kids are absolutely horrific, and what? No one told them the truth (that they totally suck and have no ability to sing/dance, etc, because heaven forbid they might get their little feelers hurt? Nice to hear someone like Corolla say what he thinks instead of just going with what’s popular.

Posted on December 1, 2011 at 2:20pmLoved…loved…LOVED the original version…but played the “edited” version for my kids to hear! I’d love to have this on iTunes just to play for every “that’s not fair!” I hear! It took me a very long time to understand what it means by “covet”…this OWS is exactly that. The fact is that life is not always fair. It would be boring if it were always fair. It would also be impossible.
Someone called the GB show and stated that she did not want and, more importantly, would not allow her children to accept “participation trophies”. If more parents would stand up and do the same maybe our kids will be better off.
My kids went to public school last year and the “honors ceremony” lasted forever because each and every child got some kind of reward/participation certificate/medal. I can accept 1st/2nd honors. But what they were giving were “Bringing Up Grades”, “Good Citizen”, and “Good Friend” awards! What a freakin’ joke!!! Now they are in a private school and the only “awards” earned: 1st Honors/2nd Honors. That is it. And these kids earn the honor. We have to start somewhere…how about on our own children!

They lied to me. I finished my first book after 7 years of work. Somehow I thought it would make me special. Nope. People don’t care. Life is hard. Posted on December 1, 2011 at 1:28pmThis entitlement mentality is a result of the Oprahnization of America! Her show epitomized the “you are beautiful, perfect, number 1, do whatever you want, dont let anyone tell you you arent good enough” which has steamrolled over the years with liberalism. When Corolla was on the Man Show with Kimmel that was their underlying target, they couldnt take it! Viewers of Oprahs show raised kids with this entitlement mentality and the timing is about right with those in occupys age to the show that was on for what 20-25 years? What we need is ppl to take a page from American Idols Simon Cowell and tell kids/folks they stink on ice! (as Glenn likes to say)
Other than the foul language there is nothing wrong with this rant the guy is 100% right. These kids raised this way expect everything to be handed to them b/c of their liberal upbringing. It even goes as far as putting helmets & pads on kids so they dont get a boo boo when they fall off their bike. Ya know what I fell plenty of times and b/c of it I learned how to take a fall, I have instinct to protect myself when I go down. You put all that padding on a kid they will never learn how to take the punches. That is the problem they are raised on how to get around not taking the punches then one day they get slammed down and dont know what to do…
Why do we fall? ….. To learn how to pick ourselves up! http://SavingtheRepublic.com

Posted on December 1, 2011 at 1:26pmHoly sweet mother of crap. Ok, for those who can’t do math (looking at you Adam Carolla), you should really hire a fact checker before you speak. The top one percent payed 37% percent of the taxes but hold more than 42% of the wealth, leaving those of us who have to split 68% of the wealth among 99% of the population to pay the remaining 63%. If you own more than 42% of the stuff but pay a less than 42% of the taxes, you still aren’t paying your fair share.
To be clear, I am not one of the entitled millennials. I am a self employed small business owner who is himself in the top 10% of earners in America. I would like to have America go back to a system where merit was rewarded. If a CEO drives a company into the ground, no bonus, no job, no golden parachute. If an employee goes above the call of duty, bonus, job security, and pension. You get the idea.

Posted on December 1, 2011 at 1:57pmSo if I own about 0.0001% of the wealth of this country, therefore I should only pay a 0.0001% income tax rate? How would we even go about finding out this rate? Or do we get lumped into groups where the bottom of the group gets the biggest shaft?
We might as well just destroy the concept of success. Figure out where the optimum income-tax burden wage is and just hang out. Put everyone through the homogenizer and line up for bread every morning while the benevolent, omnipotent Dear Leaders enjoy their caviar and champagne. Sounds freaking awesome.

I wish I sould post the graph here for you to see, but you will have to go to the link to see how wrong you are. Where did you come up with your numbers anyway? MSNBC?
From Political Math;
“Here is a graph showing how the rich make more income and pay even more in taxes. While the upper middle class pay about the same percentage in taxes as they make. Finally the lower 60% pay less in taxes then their % of the national income.”

Posted on December 1, 2011 at 4:38pmBy the way, Adam’s math comes from a reference to how much the 1% in “California” not America overall are paying nearly 50%. So while what you have to say may be true for the country in general, it’s much higher in California.
Also, there isn’t a limit to wealth you know. It‘s not like there’s only so much money in the world and we have to beg for scraps from the rich man’s table (though liberals and communists would have you believe this). We create wealth whenever we trade goods or services. A person can take a $3 notebook and a $1 pen and create a million dollar novel, poof, like magic. They’ve created something of great value out of something of little value. Currency is only the symbol of trade (or object that makes our trade easier). Wealth is something we create ourselves, not something we beg others for. As an employee you trade something you have for currency. A cashier is easy enough to come by, so the value of that skill is low. Whereas a brain surgeon is a rarer skill, hence their ability to trade the rare skill for more currency. Basic laws of supply and demand.
So if you want to make what the 1% make, you need to find something rare (or also called valuable) to trade/offer in order to demand the large amount of currency. If you‘re content to stay where you’re at, well, don’t blame the 1%.

Posted on December 2, 2011 at 1:21pmOK, I fact checked like you suggested. IRS data for 2008, the top 1% pays more than the bottom 95%. The top 1% paid about 37% of the federal income taxes and received approx 21% of the wealth, not 42%, as you state. And when the top 1% receive 21% of the wealth, it is incorrect to assume that the other 99% are left to divide the remaining wealth among themselves. Historically, in America, what has made us great, is that, when someone wants a bigger piece of the pie, they did not expect to take it from their neighbor. Instead, they went out and “grew the pie”, and their neighbors reaped some of the increase in wealth as part of the ripple effect that results when someone “grows the pie”. Sadly, more and more Americans no longer understand this basic fact. You’re say you are a small business man. How can you not understand this?

Posted on December 1, 2011 at 1:50pmYou are not entitled to anything. The Government acts as a means to protect rights endowed by our Creator, those being life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. You are not entitled to have your troubles taken away, but you are free to live your life the way you want. You are not entitled to freedom, but you have the right to it – if you are willing to fight for it. You are not entitled to a high quality of life, but you have the right to work for it and not have it taken away. The entitlement mentality is only destructive.
Where is OWS wrong? They are looking the wrong way. The devil is behind them, pushing them and supporting them, doing all it can to protect itself. All they have to do is turn around and see the source of crony capitalism – the US Government itself. Without the government pushing bailouts and special favors, there would be nothing for Wall Street to accept.
And that doesn’t even touch upon the filth.

When I was in school, (the little 1 room school house had long been demolished.) You had 100% of something, THE MIDDLE WAS AT 50%, 99% WAS IN THE TOP 50%, AND LOWER WAS AT 49% AND UNDER WITH THAT KIND OF REASONING, THERE’S JUST NO WAY THE 99% CAN ALL BE MIDDLE CLASS. Posted on December 1, 2011 at 1:09pmAdam may have a potty mouth, but he is right. We have created a country of ‘Gimme’.Give me what I want, but I don’t want to work for it. My father used to tell me when I was growing up that life was not fair, if you wanted it you had to work for it. We raised out children under the same guidelines. They are good people, parents and children. But they work hard, do without when they have to and wait to get what they want when they have saved for it. Rare in these times to find kids in their late 20‘s and early 30’s that do that. They are raising their children to be the same way, so maybe if enough young adults learn this, there is hope for their generation yet.

There is no other way to get around the issue Adam is saying without the use of frequent, strong, and harsh language. To everything there is a season, and in this season harsh, uncensored reality is a necessary medicine. Teach the children to speak respectfully to one another – but when someone truly deserves it, let them have it and repent later. Repenting for foul language in the face of wickedness is far easier than repenting for being silent.
