Heart-Stopping Vid Shows Race Car Cartwheeling Down Mountain and Drivers Emerge Unscathed

Drivers racing in the the Pikes Peak Hill Climb over the weekend, according to The Colorado Gazette, were lucky if they even reached the finish line — no matter their finishing speed — as a slew of crashes and other malfunctions took place.

One of these was of Jeremy Foley and co-driver Yuri Kouznetsov who cartwheeled down the hill after losing control on a tight curve. Foley and Kouznetsov were rescued and taken to the hospital. According to Autoblog, the two have been released with really no more than the expected bumps and bruises and a dislocated shoulder, which is surprising given the footage captured of the crash.

Motor Authority reports Foley writing on Facebook that he and Kouznetsov were “a little beaten up but nothing major.”

This is an annual race held during the 4th of July weekend. Since we were battling a major wildfire during this time, the Pikes Peak Hill Climb as postponed until 12 August.

This is not an easy course and anyone who has driven the course just on a normal trip up to the summit will tell you there are so many sharp turns would make normal stomachs churn. You are also subject to get altitude sickness. Until this year the last few miles were unpaved, so you drove on dirt going up. As I understand it now the road is paved to the summit.

That almost looked deliberate. WTH were they doing that far outside to begin with? Any clue why someone drives off a perfectly good curve in a working EVO 8?

    This video confuses me.

The Pikes Peak Hill Climb is a very old race with a history of very few wrecks, and as far as I can recall, no fatalities. I could be wrong there but both wrecks and fatalities are a part of racing and all race drivers know it.

It has to do with the way God designed us as men. That’s a good thing too because if we are going to protect, and die for if need be, those we are responsible for it require courage, strength, willingness to risk. A real man likes and welcomes a challenge. We want to know what we are made of and whether we have what it takes.

Being that Pike Peak is a race it’s not a need for speed it job that demands speed to accel. That being said i use to play Grand Turismo and Pike Peak was one of those Nightmare courses.

What is it with women who feel the need to nag men who are only having fun? (BTW, I’m a woman) Tweetybird, Why don‘t you grab some of your man’s cash and go to the mall and get yourself something pretty. Wait, the way you rag on men, you probably don’t have a man. And if you do, I feel really sorry for him.
