Heavenly Light Shines Down on Fallen Soldier‘s ’Miracle Dog’

Heavenly Light Shines Down on Fallen Soldier Justin Rollins Dog Hero

This image, which ABC confirms is not photo-shopped in any way, has created quite a stir.

It shows Hero, the canine companion of a fallen hero from the U.S. military, Justin Rollin, with a gleaming beam of light shining down from above.

Hero kept Rollin company during his Iraq deployment. After Rollin was tragically killed, Hero made an amazing journey back to the United States to comfort Rollin’s grieving family. Then a puppy, Hero is now grown, and pictured above.

The photo, as Reported by ABC News’  Kimberly Launier, was taken during a television shoot for an upcoming 20/20 episode:

“I was filming soldier Justin Rollin’s parents Skip and Rhonda playing with their dog Hero, whose rescue from the Iraq War zone where Justin died was nothing short of a miracle.

Sometimes when Rhonda hugged Hero she would softly pet her face and coo, “Justin, are you in there?”  It was Rhonda’s gentle way of remembering their son and his last living connection to Hero. At one point, Hero wandered off and took a stroll in the backyard. All of a sudden, the clouds broke and a light began to solidify in a beam directly down on Hero — a kind of vertical halo.”

What you see above is a photo taken to capture that amazing moment.

ABC has more of Justin Rollin’s story here, and will tell the whole emotional tale of this fallen hero Friday on 20/20.

Look at my profile picture. It does not take a lens with a wipe on it to make a sun beam. All you need to do is place the sun or another bright light just off frame and the halo effect happens every time. I use it at wedding shoots quite often. No miracle just clever positioning. Oh by the way, I am a Christian, so, no, I am not bashing religion.

I’ve never seen that Light from the outside but have seen It many times from the Inside. My ears start ringing and then everything around me lights up. Never had anyone take a picture of me during this because I’m never thinking about “past or future” when in the “Present” and I’m always alone. There is one thing that is missing in the picture though. When This happens to me I’m surrounded by Dragonflies, Bees, Wasps, Lizards and small animals like rabbits. If you look at the Balls of Light directed at the dog’s head you will notice two colors. One color is going to the head and the other color is going away from the head. Too bad this wasn’t a video or you would see the two-way communication. This is the first K-9 Monk I’ve seen. I know what This Is and It’s Real. I’m Grateful to actually see It from the outside for the first time. I’d like to meet this K-9 Monk in person but, a wish is not a Fact.

You can call yourself a Christian all day long, that doesn’t mean much. It is what is in your heart dude, and when you want to kill the moment as you are trying to do now, there is not much love in your heart. You have done a disservice to many with you post. It is not about the dog, it is about what it could mean. Why would I want to look at your website? I rather believe in what the picture is showing and hopefully grow from it. Shame on you!

It is a beam of light through a small opening in the clouds, the dog is in the right place at the right time, yes. The trees don’t cast a shadow because the beam is narrow, and does not encompass the trees…so much for the ‘shadow theory’.

However, God does work miracles, and we just witnessed one. Why cannot we leave it at that? Why does everyone have to analyze it to death? Why do people question anything to do with God? It’s all in the Bible for you to read, why not read it and accept the beauty of it all?

Because my dear UNIX; God gave us all a brain which we can use to determine fact from fanciful fantasy. Just because we ‘want’ to believe a thing, doesn’t automatically make it so. Doesn’t mean it’s not so either. That’s why discussion is a ‘good’ thing…

Maybe the Blaze should separate the boards into two groups: Those who want to believe everything that suits their fancy and are threatened by differing opinion and those who actually want to discuss stuff without being so personally threatened by the heresy of free thought. (Well, and maybe a third group of Trolls who can all go to hell :)

You could also climb into an isolation chamber with the water and salinity just right so that you can float there suspended on your own personal cloud with Musak piped in to soothe your frightened soul.

I’m telling you that God could place the idea in a mans mind to create this image and allow the man to think he is being deceptive and still use that person to give comfort to those who needed it.
The person doing the deception need not even be aware that they themselfs are being used to futher God’s intent.

With God, all things are possible. I never believed in things like this until on November 14th, 2010, my father-in-law died at 7PM after suffering a heart attack. He was in fibrillation from about 3PM. Earlier that day we watched Manny Pacquiao win a fight. He was very active earlier in the day. We are here in the Philippines. Mom, myself, my wife and sister-in-law all smelled unexplained candle smoke smell during the fight, but when dad was asked, he did not smell it. After his death, many times we all smelled the aroma of orchids in the house. Orchids were at his wake and funeral. I smelled orchids while driving through town on my motorcycle, there were no flowers or other reason for me to smell them. These are but a few of the things I would condemn in time past, until they happened to me! Am I a believer in this event? Yes, now I am. I don’t believe in “Mary” in the clouds or sky. But, things like this are sent by God or allowed by God to comfort the living. The family I am part of is unusual in our society. Mom and two daughters enjoy sitting and talking together for hours each morning. It is a highlight for their day. The whole family is VERY close and the love for family is beyond what we might consider “normal” in society today. I believe when this kind of closeness and love is felt between people, God surely allows the “abnormal” to happen as a way to comfort the living. God is GOOD, ALL the time! Receive Him today; Romans 10:9-13.

@Phantoms….; It may be that this phenomena is common. I only had one father-in-law. He was very unique in his love for his family. While this may be common to those surrounding death, it is still a “miracle” for those of us that experienced it. I think that rationally you have to admit, there was NO REASON for my smelling the flowers while out riding the motorcycle with no other flowers around, and I did not say it, but that happened to me nearly 10 months after dad’s death. While the flower smells have happened and been experienced in various rooms of the house by all in the family, all year since his passing. To me, these are amazing examples of God’s love for us, concerning the passing of a loved one.

It‘s obvious you’ve never lost someone close to you. It’s a sad fact that you will eventually and when you do, you’ll look for things like this to give you comfort.

its obvious you don‘t know the reason why I’m rolling my eyes, it has nothing to do with losing someone. it has to do with taking a dog standing in the sun and attaching some religious context to it.

What the picture does is brings out deep feelings. Like sadness, love, warmth, joy. I would hate to go thru life without experiencing all of them as often as possible. If you don’t, then your not using all of your gifts.

A dog will be loyal until the last beat of his or her life. It is a human’s responsibility to be worthy of that loyalty.

Sometimes I can’t believe God loved us enough to give us the gift that dogs are. Beautiful faith- inspiring picture.
My prayers go out to you people who “rolls eyes” and who don’t believe in miracles. You have no idea what you’re missing.

vs the person who believes a burning bush can talk? ’nuff said.

I love how people take random and/or improbable events and make it fit their beliefs.

      @moderation

Generations have ‘put God in a box’. They have fit God into their own scheme of things, rather than the other way around. Just like you. You don’t believe, cannot believe that there is something out there greater than you. I know, I used to feel the same way. We will pray for you, as we do all who can’t yet see. You don’t want to understand, because God isn’t ready for you to understand. How does that grab you? Doesn‘t it suck knowing you’re still living by someone else’s rules, even when you don’t believe in the one who created them? Just because you don’t believe in the consequences of your actions, doesn‘t mean you still won’t suffer them. God bless.

Nobody believes a burning bush can talk.
I believe God spoke through a burning bush.
You see, the bush was not God.

      @KADAMS

I’m so glad I get to prove to you how wrong you are. I am an atheist, but I am an atheist that encourages doubt. While I don’t believe a God exists, I am open to the possibility that I may be wrong. That’s the main difference between me and you. I embrace doubt, you are afraid of it. I admit that I may be wrong. You are assured you ARE right, no matter the proof that is given to you. You are assured that not only there IS a God, but that you are worshiping the correct one.

Since I don’t believe a God exists, it’s impossible for me to put him into a box, therefore he can’t fit my “scheme.”

Believers do this all the time though. For instance they will say, “all humans are deserving of hell, but it is through God’s grace and belief that Jesus died for our sins.” When confronted with the fact that there are tons of aborted babies, and tons of children who die before they are able to comprehend God and sin, they simply say, “oh well, God is JUST, so yeah they’re in heaven.” That is fitting God to a certain scheme. God is love, yet he creates billions of people knowing they will go to hell. Yup, that’s love and mercy for you.

There comes a time when God will stop striving with you. it will be too late then. Didn’t Jesus tell us that if a people will not hear you, then wipe their dust from your feet and move on. I would say that applies to you.

As it so happens, I do believe in God. It is because of people like you that I identify more with atheists. No one is less intelligent because their opinion differs from yours. Also, I’m pretty sure many blind and deaf people believe in God.
