Hedging? Howard Dean Says ‘Individual Mandate Was Never Necessary,‘ ’Never Gonna See’ Single-Payer System

In a quick interview with Red Alert Politics last week, former DNC Chairman Howard Dean made some revealing comments concerning his stance on the fate of the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare). Dean, a doctor himself, has not been shy in criticizing the administration and their tactics in passing the immensely controversial bill. But last Friday he brushed aside the individual mandate, a key achievement of the legislation, calling it unnecessary.
The interviewer asked if Dean would like to see the entire bill struck down so that Democrats would have the opportunity to pass something even more radical.
“I hope the healthcare bill does not get struck down, other than the Individual Mandate, which was never necessary in the first place.”
“The rest of the bill does a lot of things for a lot of Americans,” Dean said in response, but proceeded cautiously when asked about a single-payer system. ”We’re never gonna see a Canadian-style, single-payer system,“ adding ”This isn’t Canada.” Dean hypothesized that “different single payers in different areas” might reduce healthcare costs but was otherwise non-descript on the issue.

Have you ever seen a monopoly that was keenly interested superior service at the lowest possible cost? Just imagine what a really swell job a GOVERNMENT monopoly would do. I think not.” [I’m just remebering the discussion with the Solicitor General & CJ Scalia.
You may say you don’t want it, Sir Dean; you want it, your DemoProg Party wants it and the radical Left wants it NMW!
This Law needs to be struck down. The Mandate most assuridly needs to be left forgotten on the cutting room floor. If the mandate passes, which I doubt will, then this country is just another great country thrown into the roundfile of history.

Dean is blowing smoke when he says the mandate isn’t necessary. The mandate is the funding piece. Without it there would have to be a huge tax increase of some kind to fund the rest of the bill. So it would require another big debate in Congress. If the mandate is struck down this law is effectively dead. If the Justices go ahead and find the whole thing unconstitutional all the better.

If the SCOTUS doesn’t throw out the mandate, or disallow the entire law then I think the next best hope is that Congress holds up the funding legislation for the tax increases until after the election/inauguration. If President Obama and the D‘s take it on the chin in November it’s going to be nearly impossible for them to push anything like this through. I hope……. Peace.

For smaller businesses there’s still a tax, it’s graduated down to 5% for businesses with under 5 or 10 employees. Oh, the best part is that it’s single payer, and it covers “reroductive health”. That is still code for abortion, right?
