(TheBlaze/AP) — “The Office” will be closing next year.
Producer Greg Daniels says the NBC comedy will conclude business at Dunder Mifflin after the upcoming ninth season, ending what many have called a failed run without the show’s mega-star Steve Carell, who charmed audiences as “Michael Scott” until his departure during season seven.
He said Tuesday that the final year will be exciting and memorable and will take creative chances. And it will reveal who’s been making the mock documentary that has provided the show with its format.
Daniels says, “I think endings can be very powerful.”
Will former regional manager Michael Scott return as a guest? Daniels says he hopes Carell will reprise his role as the socially inept boss, but he isn’t counting on it. Carell left in 2011.
“The Office” was adapted from its British predecessor and premiered on NBC in March 2005.
While its ratings have slipped, it‘s still NBC’s highest-rated scripted series.
For those of you that are really bummed about the show’s impending doom, these top 10 moments from “The Office” and the Dunder Mifflin crew might get you through the final season:

Posted on August 22, 2012 at 7:04amThe dinner party at Michael’s condo was a classic. But……I stop watching after a couple of episodes post-Michael Scott…. it was just not a good series any more. They really should have ended the show when Pam and Jim got married.

Posted on August 22, 2012 at 11:04amAny time a major character leaves a series, the show tends to start loosing what audiences came for. Case in point:
Two And A Half Men: Love him or hate him, Charlie Sheen made that show and now it’s pretty unwatchable.
Spin City: No one could replace Micheal J Fox as the Deputy Mayor Of NY. As far as I’m concerned that series ended at the end of season 4.
Please post your examples!

Posted on August 22, 2012 at 3:13amI‘m glad to say I’ve never seen a full episode of “The Office”. My friend forced me to watch a few minutes once, and I found it to be coarse, lewd, and crude.
Good riddance!

Good for you but it doesn’t make you any better than anybody who watched a full episode or the entire series. Time to come down from your throne.

Posted on August 22, 2012 at 10:03amThat episode had three great scenes: the fire drill, when Dwight and Michael were being reprimanded for the fire drill, and the CPR class. Best scenes of the entire series, I think.

Posted on August 21, 2012 at 8:03pmCome on, I know conservatives identify with Dwight…
It’s a good show, even with Michael Scott, it’s better than almost all other comedies on the air.
Report Post »oxnews
Posted on August 22, 2012 at 10:53amThis is the tragic thing about liberals and other not-so-sharp people: they think Dwight is a “Conservative” because some lowlife lefty script writer stuffed the character full of stereotypes, and they think “Conservatives” identify with him. I suppose it makes the world easier to deal with. Me good, Republicans bad.

Posted on August 21, 2012 at 8:02pmIf you have ever worked in an office…this show speaks to you!! My husband (an IBM-er) and I (an actor who has done many temp jobs in the past) crack up at the antics that are not so very far from the truth of office life. Yes, it is comedic, and exaggerated, but anything funny has a grain of truth to it, and this show was/is full of truth pertaining to the human condition Thanks for a great run!!

Posted on August 21, 2012 at 7:53pmI refuse to watch any of NBC’s propaganda pieces, that includes their primetime comedies. They use the opiate of the masses to brainwash the American populace into believing that socialism, degeneracy, and irreverence are to be not only accepted, but also embraced by modern society. This is just as true on EVERY major network, but NBC are probably the most prolific propagators on the block.
