Here Is a List of Global Taxes Proposed by the United Nations Last Week

UN Proposes Global Carbon, Currency Transaction, Billionaire Taxes | Global Development

Survey author Rob Vos (Photo: UN)

According to Reuters, The U.N. World Economic and Social Survey has determined that the needs of developing countries are not being met, and new taxes will help fight dilemmas like “climate change” and the “record of broken promises” by donor countries.

Though the United Nations has no authority to enforce global taxes at the current time, its propositions hold sway and are not unlike schemes proposed by American politicians.

(Related: Biden to Crowd: ‘We Want…A Global Minimum Tax)

Survey author Rob Vos explained in a statement, after lamenting the shortfall of international donations because of budget cuts:

“Although donors must meet their commitments, it is time to look for other ways to find resources to finance development needs and address growing global challenges, such as combating climate change…

“We are suggesting various ways to tap resources through international mechanisms, such as coordinated taxes on carbon emissions, air traffic, and financial and currency transactions.”  [Emphasis added]

The related Huffington Post article includes this video, titled “What is the New World Order?” with the Chairman of the World Economic Forum USA, to explain why global governance will solve our issues:

CNS News summarizes a few of the proposed changes:

Carbon Tax: A tax of $25 a ton of carbon dioxide (CO2) emitted in developed countries…The money could be collected by national authorities, but be earmarked for international cooperation. CO2 is the “greenhouse gas” blamed most often for climate change.

[...]

Currency Transaction Tax: A tax of 0.005 percent on all trading in four major currencies – the U.S. dollar, the euro, the yen and pound sterling – would yield around $40 billion a year for international initiatives. The decades-old idea of levying a small charge on financial transactions is sometimes called a “Robin Hood tax” since it supposedly taxes rich nations to benefit poor ones.

The European Union’s executive Commission has proposed the introduction of such a tax – 0.1 percent for shares and bonds and 0.01 percent for derivatives – in the 27-member union with effect from January 1, 2014, an initiative expected to raise just over $70 billion a year. The WESS says a portion of that could be earmarked for international cooperation.

SDRs: Allocation of International Monetary Fund Special Drawing Rights (SDRs) could yield $100 billion a year to purchase long-term assets that could then be used for development finance. Set up in the 1960s, SDRs are used by governments and some international institutions. It is not itself a currency, but its value is based on a basket of the dollar, euro, pound sterling and yen. Some countries, including Russia, China and Brazil, have been pushing the idea of SDRs replacing the greenback as the world’s reserve currency.

Billionaire’s Tax: A tax of around one percent on individual wealth holdings of $1 billion or more, “with the revenue destined to finance internationally agreed global development purposes.” The WESS says this mechanism, which it estimates could raise $50 billion a year, is an option that could be explored but needs further technical elaboration.

“Realizing the potential of these mechanisms will require international agreement and corresponding political will, both to tap sources as well as to ensure allocation of revenues for development,” said Vos.

However, conservative organizations (and those that value national sovereignty), worry about hundreds of billions of dollars more being allocated to the United Nations.

(Related: Director of New Documentary ‘U.N. Me’ Tells Beck About Murder, Corruption, and Ineptitude of the United Nations)

Myron Ebell, director of energy and global warming policy at the free-market Competitive Enterprise Institute, noted that the taxing authority would be unaccountable to a sovereign authority, and Phyllis Schlafly, president of the conservative Eagle Forum, argues that the day the United Nations tries to impose a global tax should be the day the country pulls out of the U.N.

After all, we would essentially be paying the institution to tax us.

Conservative blog Hot Air sarcastically concludes: “It’s truly a brave new world, comrades…Welcome to the age of international peace and prosperity.”

They would tax you for that as well; and look for Obama to go along with anything they come up with in his effort to ‘globalize’ the United States and make it subject to the whim and whimsy of the UN dictators instead of our own soverign rights and territory.

Its time the UN is dumped into the sea, lock, stock and barrel.

I even told you people the details about how the UN took control of the US. About 5% of you people heard me.

I am tired of spelling it out. People do your own research. Maybe you will believe it then.

First you must find out who took control of us in 1933, and then transfered the lien to the IMF and WB in 1944 at the bretton woods treaty. These clues will help you people to figure it out.

      @ Problemsolver

Thank you very much for those links.

I am ready to admit when I have been wrong in the past, so I do not hesitate in saying that I have been predicting this for as long as I have been a member of this site (and before amongst my friends).

The UN began this push to tax individuals and corporations since the Rio confrence in 1992 (the ideas were mooted before – most notably by Tobin after whom the tax philosophy is named) in order to free themselves from the financial control exerted by free countries.

This is nothing more than hardcore socialism. The very countries mentioned (Africa, most prominently) are in the position that they are because they are ruled by socialist governments, which inevitably morphed into dictatorships and became basket cases. Europe, which is socialist at its core, is in the trouble that it is because of its staunchly left-wing, vote-buying philosophy.

This guy is being straightfoward when he talks about the desirability of “global governance”. They put this forward in the draft treaty at Copenhagen (page 37), which, blessedly, failed. At all times, when they talk about the earmarking of this money for “international cooperation”, they mean paying it to the UN – the most corrupt, dishonest, incompetent, and ecomonically destructive organisation on the planet.

I am writing to my Prime Minister this very evening, and I urge everybody to contact their representatives similarly.

      Do NOT underestimate this threat.

Wake up people. This is part of the New World Order. None of us in the United States have any freedom at all. All of us are individual corporations owned by the United States Corporation which was created by the 41st Congress in 1871. This did away with the original U.S. Constitution and gave way to a false Constitution. All of you need to look at the your names on your driver licenses, your bills, your social security cards and ask yourself why your names are in all capital letters. It is because all of us are individual corporations. The United States went bankrupt for the second time in 1933 and FDR used every single one of us as collateral to for payments to the Federal Reserve Bank. We never got away from England. England and the rest of the international bankers own us.

Romney has supported gun control..the Patriot Act..NDAA global warming cap and trade and is for big government..that is what you like isn’t it Patty? Well, the UN are taking our guns, so our citizens won’t be able to use a gun. The muslims, the illegals, the drug cartels, muslims and all other aliens would have to buy the ammo to do that. And, because they are not citizens, they won’t have to pay the taxes. But, with Fast & Furious, they will be able to get the ammo and the guns for free. But the muslims, the illegals and aliens are soooooooo in love with obama and his terrorist mobs, so it aint gonna happen!

You know, the one thing I cannot quite get my arms around to understand is this carbon tax and how it’s supposed to reduce carbon emissions. For example, if I am allocated the “right” to emit 100 tons of carbon per year from my factory, I am fined for going over. If I only emit 80 tons, I’ve got 20 tons of emissions that I can sell to another company so they can go over their alotted amount. Now how in tarnation is that reducing the amount of carbon emissions? What am I missing?

I own a coal plant in the US. I’m allowed 100 tons of emissions. I spew 120 tons. I buy 20 tons from a plant in Ethiopia, because they only spew 10 tons. I charge my US customers a higher price to cover the difference. Voila! Redistribution of wealth.

They could not care less about global warming; they know the truth of the matter.

What they care about is money.

They expect this plan, should it succeed, to provide them with $400 billion per year, on top of the dues that are now paid. This being with the added advantage that they will no longer be under the threat by donor nations (the vast majority of which are free, western nations) of the withholding of dues for being more than usually moronic.

Wait until they decide to tax us as greenhouse gas emitters. Those who utilize workout centers or do sports of any kind, will of course be taxed at a higher rate than couch potatoes. No doubt there will be a special Carbon Credit system set up so we can buy extra credits from those who avoid activity leading to heavier breathing! Soon, we will be responsible for the CO2 use by all animals, especially pets. They too emit CO2…and SOMEONE has to pay…..
Plants will be able to sell lots of credits though. No doubt the UN will be in charge of this Lifeform Inclusive CC taxing scheme, with Al Gore as the Director at $500k/yr.

Of course neither the Rs nor Ds care about us. We’re insignificant in their scheme of world rule. I’ve long ago come to the conclusion that the only reason there are Rs and Ds is to make WE THE PEOPLE actually think we have a choice. They keep us divided, at each other’s throats. That’s divide and conquer, plain and simple. If we were not divided, we’d see the scam they have setup and how they continue to screw us over year after year after year; they have turned their position into a career instead of a short jaunt to serve their country. They have built the absolute best health care system in the world for themselves, but make WE THE PEOPLE accept something much lesser. They have given themselves a great retirement package — more than most of us can dream of. They take a salary 4X the average that of the American citizen, the boss. They have made themselves all but exempt from the same rules and laws that you and I have to follow, yet when one of them do get caught at something illegal, their penalty is much, much lesser than ours would be for the same infraction.

Yes, they are purposefully continuing their divide and conquer game and WE THE PEOPLE do not even suspect it! The entire lot of them should be ousted from office!

The worst part is the UN and individual countries will hire thousands of Government EMPLOYEES to levy these taxes and ensure they get paid. Thousnds more will be hired to try to determine HOW to spend the money. Big corporations will get the contracts for supplies and labor unions will get the contracts to do the WORK.

No “individual” will profit from it except all the “revenuers” who get paid off NOT to tax corporations.

For every dollar collected – I estimate 5 cents will go helping these nations.

The carbon tax (read that “fine”) proposed by these international organizations are just a way to use climate change to advance an agenda of global socialism – that is to redistribute money from prospering nations to poorer ones. Of course, sovereign nations don’t have to go along with such nonsense as long as they are still sovereign nations. One more reason to vote Barry out of office. I’m sure he is down with the whole concept.

The certain groups of people who claim the legitimacy of climate change, such as the likes of Al Gore who would stand to make millions more, as if adding millions more to his change purse, would make much difference in his lifestyle. Its the control he visualizes over others, that he hungers for, same as the rest of climate changers. The money would be used to further their other liberal lies of what they personify as the perfect world for themselves, while the rest of us smucks struggle just to keep afloat financially.
The debate over climate policy has nothing to do with science, that’s already been proven by the intellectuals, and it’s essentially a debate over the role of government control, freedom versus regulation.
Just take a look at Al Gore…..does he appear to have great knowledge of climate change?? What are his qualifications to claim the existence of climate change??
