Here‘s Your Chance to Peek Inside Mayor Bloomberg’s House

The billionaire mayor of New York — who has been known to serve tuna on crackers at cocktail parties and allegedly prefers diners to the swanky hotels and restaurants often the choice of most power-brokers — might (albeit inadvertently) be allowing us a peak into his palatial Upper East Side and London townhouses.

On Monday The New York Times revealed that photos of the very private Bloomberg’s homes were posted on the website of his interior designer, Drake Design Associates.

The photos, labeled only “Townhouse, NYC,” and “Townhouse, London,” did not mention Bloomberg by name but did offer an intimate tour of the opulent residences.

The NY Times reports:

“It’s certainly not a budget-deficit look,” said Marian McEvoy, an author and former editor in chief of House Beautiful and Elle Décor. “This is not somebody who is interested in appearing less successful than he is, and rightly so. He appreciates, obviously, fine furniture and good art.”

In the New York town house, the photos show that visitors are greeted by what appeared to be, in the eyes of one antiques dealer, a Dutch old master painting, an English Regency table that could be worth $90,000 and sconces that could go for $40,000 each. In another room sits what the dealer said was a $1 million Georgian Chippendale couch beneath what appeared to be an 18th-century portrait by a prominent painter like Joshua Reynolds or Thomas Gainsborough, which might be worth $450,000. Throughout the house are more sconces and chandeliers valued in the five or six figures, the dealer said.

Another room holds an antique snooker table that is worth at least $50,000, another expert said. Billowing drapes, an Egyptian marble foyer and French Savonnerie carpets all add to the centuries-old opulence. Three bathrooms, each appointed in a different fashion, are pictured.

“Michael wants to live large, like a 19th-century railroad baron,” Graydon Carter, editor of Vanity Fair magazine and a longtime friend of Bloomberg, told the Times in 2001. “He sees himself as very much like the Carnegies or Mellons.”

According to the Times, Bloomberg’s chief spokesman, Stu Loeser, declined to discuss the properties or the personal affects therein, not would he say whether Bloomberg was even aware that the photos had been posted online. Interestingly enough, however, shortly after the Times story was published, the photos were removed from Drake’s website.

  Looks like King Louis Bloomberg the 14th! I don‘t think he’s a parasite. He made his money elsewhere. He’s just lost his way, and those who voted him in have lost their way too. He needs to get back to Bloomberg business. So, this is the guy who is deciding for New Yorkers (and the rest of the country) whether or not there should be clergy or first-responders at the 9/11 Memorial Service…?

  Holy Hypocrisy – It appears another Limousine Liberal is not paying his fair share while supporting President Odumbo to steal more from others. Bloomburg needs to write a check to the IRS just like Warren Buffooon and then shut the hellup! Actually Warren Buffoooon needs to pay all the taxes he owes from the last 10 years totaling almost a billion dollars. Imagine if us Surfs owed the IRS even $10 bucks for 10 years. We ourselves would be seeing 10 years behind bars. Its must be nice to be King Obama with sub-servant Buffoooon, and the merry court jester Bloomberg….

  Pubic, it is an issue when the Government steals more money to waste on their pet projects. It is an issue when the Super Rich whine that the Government is not taxing them enough and the IRS is open for business. If Mr. Bufffoooooon wants to pay more in Taxes, how about he at least pays the current tax rate. He can then open is fat checkbook and write a huge check to the IRS above his requirement. To become Odumbos shill on public television and ask for the President to force him to pay more is a f’ing joke. Progressive-ism is proven again and again to be a mental disorder.

They failed to show several super-secret rooms throughout both locations (quiet n don’t spread this around). I now a friend who knows a brother of a friend, whose third cousin once removed, worked on building these rooms; anyone seen Irvin Slapbackin? Any way these rooms are filled with all kinds of stuff, one even has an Abrams in it; they all have GOLD, AMMO, GUNS OF ALL TYPE AND FOOD. Wha’a ferret-face looking little Hump!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  Most all publishers acquire a written release from the owner prior to publishing.
  
  Possibly a written release is not necessary when the subject is a gross display of opulence.

I certainly wouldn’t begrudge the man his RIGHT to spend HIS money as he wishes.

If we (the majority of us here on The Blaze) are to be true to our principles – we can’t change the rules in the middle of the game! I don’t want any of you dictating to me what to do with what I have earned and I would not presume to try to tell any of you what to do.

I still think he is a pinhead and a danger to NY as a politician.

I try to think a little before I launch an attack. On occasion my emotions get the best of me. That is NOT a good thing.

  I would be more willing to accept that he has the right to spend his money any way he wanted, if he didn‘t advocate that the rich don’t pay enough, and wasn’t for redistribution of wealth. When you see a rich Conservative, they give a lot to charity. Besides, he’s hoarding. He’s been known to serve tuna on crackers? He goes to diners instead of posh hotels? One thing he’s doing that is smart, he’s investing in art and antiques instead of a stock market that is unpredictable. There was another article here where I read that rich liberals hoard, and rich conservatives spread it around, but I haven’t researched it, so can‘t say it’s true.

He and others like him don’t even have time to consider laughing at you, because, to them, you don’t even exist. This was all reaffirmed to me while, over the past six weeks or so, I shut out all distractions and busted my butt to get my business back on track; during which time I’ve earned more money that any of you Blazers have earned in the past year, guaranteed.
