Former GOP presidential candidate Herman Cain
Former GOP presidential candidate Herman Cain may have gotten in on an electoral joke with comedian Stephen Colbert, but he’s still more than serious about making his voice heard to the American electorate.
Last night, Cain delivered the Tea Party response to President Barack Obama’s State of the Union address. He called on the president to come up with some “common-sense solutions,“ characterized his speech as ”a hodgepodge of little ideas” and encouraged the nation’s top leader to fix the ailing economy.
“With all due respect to the president, some of us are not stupid,” Cain said in his official Tea Party Express address. “The state of the union is not good. We want common-sense solutions. That’s how we do it outside of Washington, and we happen to believe we need more common-sense solutions inside of Washington.”
“We did not hear the real facts about our state of the union,” Cain continued. “Facts don’t lie.”
POLITICO has more:
In the speech, the former businessman — who for a time led the Republican pack before quitting the race after allegations of sexual harassment and infidelity — emphasized the need for a balanced budget, a strong military and a fairer and simpler tax code. He also stressed energy independence. “Made in America is possible,” he said.
Cain also hit Obama for failing to address the national debt, which he dubbed a “national disgrace,” and called America’s economic growth in the last three years “anemic.” Obama’s health-care law must be repealed “because it was forced down our throats to begin with,” Cain said.
Watch Cain’s speech, below:
Also, see Cain take questions following his State of the Union response:
Cain’s speech marks the second time that the Tea Party Express has offered an official rebuttal to the president. Last year, Republican Congresswoman Michele Bachmann offered up the first response. Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels delivered the official Republican response to the address this year.

She said…He said…They said…and we wonder why people become apathetic!! I personally pray that God will show us ALL who is ‘His pick’ for the job. I‘m just trusting God with this heck of a mess we find ourselves in because ’We the People’ cannot, in this culture, know what is true and what is not. I just pray God Blesses America with an honest President and Congress. He does KNOW for sure…

I pray not.. but I feel a portent of stormy weather coming for all American’s. We are going to have to stand together and all feel the pain. God help us!

Posted on January 25, 2012 at 11:53amPaul’s domestic policies are intriguing but in all likelyhood would never get passed and his foreign policy of returning America to a 18th century isolationist republic is naive, and self destructive. Moreover he is naive about the dangers of fundamentalist Islam and Iran getting a nuke. Furthermore the idea of asking Packistan’s permission to capture Osama is rediculous. Excessive libertarianism is as unsustainable as excessive socialism.

Posted on January 25, 2012 at 9:00amHerman Cain is not the official anything for the Tea Party Patriots. He may be speaking on behalf of the Tea Party Express (TPE), but the TPE is nothing more than a GOP PAC that was formed to capitalize on the grassroots Tea Party movement. They use ‘tea party’ in their name in order to hide that they are a well oiled republican machine, part of the establishment.
The national Tea Party Patriots.org (TPP) is the actual group that is considered to be the original grassroots Tea Party and they do not endorse candidates. The TPP created a response to the state of the union and that video response was shown on Fox. Cain had nothing to do with it.
When are Beck and others, with their immense ability to perform research, going to take a moment and acknowledge the differences between the grassroots Tea Party Patriots and groups that are political action committees, or groups just cashing in on the grassroots movement? It seems that Beck and Fox are confusing the Tea Party Patriots with the TPE and other groups on purpose. After three years, news reporting agencies have had more than enough time to know the difference between the various tea party organizations and should know enough that lumping them together as one is detrimental to the movement.
