Herman Cain: I‘m ’Butter‘ That Will ’Rise to the Top’

We‘ve brought you regular updates about 2012 presidential hopeful Herman Cain not only because he’s the only GOP member to make a strong indication that he’s running for president, but also because he’s an interesting guy. We bring you this video that fulfills both criteria.

In an interview with CBN’s David Brody, Cain decided to get poetic when talking about the upcoming presidential race. According to him, he’s looking forward to a crowded GOP field because it will give him the chance to shine. Or, as he says it:

“My grandparents on both sides were farmers. Small farmers. They had just enough farm to raise enough food to feed the family. They didn’t make long trips to the Farmer’s Market so they can make money. They raised food, raised hogs, raised chickens and eggs to live off of.  I’ll never forget as a child watching my grandmother churn milk and watch the butter rise to the top. That’s what’s going to happen in this Republican Primary competition. The butter is going to rise to the top because the American people re the ones that are churning the candidates that are there.”

Brody’s response is priceless: “You’re going to be the butter guy? You’re the Parkay?”

As someone who grew up in Wisconsin, I can certainly appreciate the analogy.

    It is refreshing to have someone that wants to be president that isn’t cut out of the same old cloth that the usual collections of candidates are made. I have thought that many times Republicans nominate the person whose “turn” it is…Bob Dole, John McCain, etc. and that is precisely why I will not vote for any of those who, like Gingrich have been around too long. He and the other perennial politicians are in my opinion part of the problem and never will be part of the soulution.

      @jgrahamIII, Never have more true words been spoken. “R”epublican or “D”emocrat…they are all the problem. Herman is Herman. He is running as a republican because you have to choose which you want to be called or you can’t run.

      THE PARTIES ARE THE PROBLEM. As long as we are given choices that “seem to be picked by some secret committee” then we will never get out of this mess. Stand up America! Your country is at stake!!!

    I love Herman Cain. He has the heart, the guts, and the smarts.
    The talking heads (republican included) say he doesn’t have a chance. It really drives me crazy.
    They’ve got all the polls, the inside tracking, the “people on the hill” they talk to, and they decide when a person can or cannot succeed. It will be hard for Herman Cain — if people write him off from the beginning. Getting his name out there — it‘s what’s needed. Name recognition. My family never heard of him till I started sending them videos of his speeches..etc. Everyone of them LOVED him. I believe the same would be true for many conservatives — if they just take the time to check him out.

    I live in Atlanta where he has a radio show. I have always have been impressed with him, and would love to see him run. What will be even greater is to see the Liberals try to take him down. Cain/West? Wow.. the Libs will implode, and you would REALLY see their racism rear its ugly head.

    Honor Courage and commitment to take down America from the inside. You call yourself a Marine. Thank you for your service. I was a marine and you are a problem, words like that make the whole Marine Corps look bad. Now that we are both Marines I guess i can say something about your military prowess. You are a sorry excuse for a Marine you should quit because your reasons for being there are false…..Does Cuba have a military

      What I also noticed was Marine tearing Marine apart. If we can not count on our military to hold it together then this country is dead in the water.

      When you enlisted you know that you may asked to do the very things that you are now rejecting not signing up for a paycheck. Enlisting should not have been taken lightly either.

    I believe Mr. Cain would be a great candidate for the Oval Office or any other and I really respect Mr. West as well. What a “one, two” punch their ticket would be against the hypocritical, “racist”, liberal/progressive Democrats. These two gentlemen have the experience, backbone/cajones and love of country that America needs NOW! No race card could ever be played with that ticket!

    My big concern would be “Would the Rino Republicans financially support this duo?”.

      “Was Ronald Reagan in the military?”
      ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
      You could say he was.
      Wikipedia says this about him:
      Military service
      After completing fourteen home-study Army Extension Courses, Reagan enlisted in the Army Enlisted Reserve on April 29, 1937, as a private assigned to Troop B, 322nd Cavalry at Des Moines, Iowa. He was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the Officers Reserve Corps of the Cavalry on May 25, 1937
      Reagan was ordered to active duty for the first time on April 18, 1942. Due to his nearsightedness, he was classified for limited service only, which excluded him from serving overseas. His first assignment was at the San Francisco Port of Embarkation at Fort Mason, California, as a liaison officer of the Port and Transportation Office. Upon the approval of the Army Air Force (AAF), he applied for a transfer from the Cavalry to the AAF on May 15, 1942, and was assigned to AAF Public Relations and subsequently to the 1st Motion Picture Unit (officially, the “18th AAF Base Unit”) in Culver City, California. On January 14, 1943 he was promoted to First Lieutenant and was sent to the Provisional Task Force Show Unit of This Is The Army at Burbank, California. He returned to the 1st Motion Picture Unit after completing this duty and was promoted to Captain on July 22, 1943.[
      In January 1944, Captain Reagan was ordered to temporary duty in New York City to participate in the opening of the sixth War Loan Drive. He was re-assigned to the 18th AAF Base Unit on November 14, 1944, where he remained until the end of World War II. He was recommended for promotion to Major on February 2, 1945, but this recommendation was disapproved on July 17 of that year. He returned to Fort MacArthur, California, where he was separated from active duty on December 9, 1945. By the end of the war, his units had produced some 400 training films for the AAF.
      You might be right. Typically you “churn” cream. It then separates into butter and buttermilk. Not remembering that doesn’t change the analogy, he probably didn’t have to milk the cows and separate the cream.
      He is very personable and witty. We could use some of that right now. He doesn’t need to remember how to make butter, You can get the butter at the store.
      You are correct…
      The way it actually works is that the cream “rises to the top”, is skimmed off (leaving the milk behind) and the cream is what is churned into butter.
      And, believe me, that milk, cream, and butter tastes MUCH better than anything out there in the stores!
      For a city gal, I spent some time on my grandparents farm in the summer. My grandma milked the cow, separated most of the cream, put it in a churn and we all took turns churning the butter. What’s left is butter milk, yum, yum. To this day I hate margarine. I want real butter & butter milk in my life. Store bought is never as good as fresh made like my grandma did it. Hint: put buttermilk in pineapple sherbet and mix up like a malt. You’ll be surprised, especially good & refreshing in summer.
      THE REPUBLIC IS IN CRISIS –LEADERSHIP REQUIRED
      A champion of freedom, reminiscent of George Washington, will be necessary for the Republic to survive. This new leader must fulfill Ayn Rand’s definition of a “Radical for Capitalism” and will have to be a charismatic speaker to Garner the popular support required to save the Republic. At this time there’s no one on the national scene that fulfills these specifications. No RINOS allowed!
      Two personalities that show promise are Herman Cain and Marco Rubio. Both of these men are excellent communicators but they have yet to earn extensive public support or demonstrate that they are truly “Radicals for Capitalism”. Only time will tell if either of these men has the philosophy and the charisma to save the Republic. Perhaps someone, unrecognized today, will rise to the occasion.
      Who do you think has the capacity to restore the Republic? http://commonsense21c.com/
The indocrination that they try to apply on recruits is one of discrimination of beliefs and opinions that don’t fly with superiors and to make killing mean nothing, which are things I am against.       So you, like the President, took an oath to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States of America, I ask you what do you want the United States to Progress to? A land where citizen are told what to do and when? Told what job they must do for the better good? Told to give up their property no matter the sacrifice they made to get it? What is it that you want to progess too?
      I have yet to understand what “Progressives” want, especially the ones that have taken everything that America and capitalism offers to the individual and to freedom, but once they have obtained it, they want to “progress” to some new something, so they can do something with something,
      What is it that you and your like really want to “progress” to?
      Then “Devil Dog”, you should have never joined my Brotherhood if you are/were against everything we stand for.
      You and I both know, the definition for “discipline” is “immediate obedience to orders’. This is necessary to succeed in “mission accomplishment”. They did NOT train us to kill with no heart, but to defend with passion and resolve the People of the United States. When I was a contractor in Fallujah in ‘05, I was riding in a convoy of Humvees to do my job when a 12 year old or so boy threw a rock at my hummer. The .50 cal gunner swung around to shoot, but did not, and was terribly shaken up by not doing his job. The Staff NCO in charge comforted him because in fact, even in a war zone, most Marines have heart, and the right decision on the fly isn’t always as easy as “following orders”.
      Should that Marine have filled that kid with .50 cal rounds? hindsight says no, of course not. But what if it had been a grenade, like the Iraqis standing far back from him with cameras rolling would have liked for that gunner to believe? That was his issue
      We are not robots, we are humans with real emotions
      In conclusion, I’d rather you stop calling yourself a Marine. Although you may have graduated boot camp, something tells me you were less than honorably discharged, and if it was a dishonorable, then you have lost all priviledges of calling yourself Marine. An honorably discharged Marine wouldn’t come on here and piss all over the Eagle Globe and Anchor like you have been doing.
      Because a dishonorably discharged Marine never should have graduated in the first place
