Herman Cain: Jon Stewart Mocked Me Because I‘m a ’Black Conservative’

One of the details glossed over during this past weekend‘s heated debate between Jon Stewart and Fox’s Chris Wallace, is that Wallace confronted Stewart over taking a shot at Herman Cain (using an “Amos and Andy” voice) for suggesting that, if president, he wouldn’t sign a bill longer than three pages. Of course, Cain was joking (as we immediately pointed out), but Stewart didn’t seem to get the joke. So during a recent town hall meeting, Cain went after Stewart. And he did it by accusing Stewart of mocking him because Cain is black.
“First of all, if [Stewart] really thinks that I’m serious about a bill only being three pages the joke’s on him,” he said. “And I said secondly, as far as him mocking me, look I’ve been called every name in the book because I’m a conservative, because I’m black. Sticks and stone may break my bones, words are not going to hurt me.”
Cain went on to say that he’s been called everything from from and “Uncle Tom” to a “sell out” and even an “Oreo.”
But despite making the charge against Stewart, Cain tried to laugh it off: “the fact that he wants to mock me because I happen to be a black conservative, in the words of my Grandfather, ‘I does not care. I does not care.’”
Should this progress into a war between Cain and Stewart, Mediaite thinks that could be good for Cain:
Ultimately though what this is guaranteed to lead to (or what it should lead to) is a headline-generating and poll-increasing appearance by Cain on The Daily Show, where Cain can continue to showcase his very likable personality, his ability to avoid conflict and so he can demonstrate his own great sense of humor.
Author’s note: It‘s worth noting the Cain went out of the way to point out that Stewart wasn’t blanketly mocking him because he was black, but rather because he was a black “conservative.” The distinction, it seems, is important. Without the qualifier, Cain’s criticism would more overtly teeter on calling Stewart racist. Instead, Cain chose to lighten the accusation.

When you stereotype a group, whether it is blacks, conservatives, or black conservatives, and attempt to mock them due to the fact they are part of this group you attempt to marginalize, it is still bigotry. I hope conservatives will start calling them “racist”, “sexist”, whatever “ist” every time they do it. And Stewart does it ALL the time. Go for it, Herman!

I disagree! We simply cannot allow these liberal idiots to marginalize every Conservative candidate by breaking the rules that they, themselves have set. When they start making up new rules for themselves, or giving themselves a “pass” on ther OWN rules, Conservatives need to throw it back in their faces, remind them of the rules they previously set, and INSIST that they abide by them! This is the only way to prevent them from playing their little games to destroy every viable candidate we have and stick us with another retread like John McCain or Mitt Romney, who they know very well CANNOT win against ODumber! We MUST NOT allow the Liberals to choose the Republican nominee, unless we want ODumber to be re-elected! Insisting they abide by the same rules of fair play, and not make offensively racist jokes at a black candidate’s expense is NOT too much to ask of them. We should DEMAND at least that much of them, as they would of us.

If you were no threat, you would be ignored.
Because you are willing to speak truth to power, you are a threat.
Anyone who sees things through race as consistently as stewart does, has racial issues, I’d suggest.
I would also have expected conservative black churches (like those in the South and/or Atlanta) to have backed Herman in droves and to have publicly made a stand to back him.
I can only wonder why they have not. Have they invested so much in obama they cannot shift direction for fear of losing face? If so, their ego is getting in the way of their faith.
I like Herman and his frank willingness to speak his mind, and to speak truth to power. I like his un-filtered speeches. I respect his experience and his honesty. I could care less about the color of anybody’s skin. I thought we were beyond that by now. Of course, that was until obama polarized everybody to create hate and division so he could activate particular voter bases. Too bad, too. Obama had a unique opportunity to unite the U.S. in a post-racial era, instead of dividing it for political gain. So sad.

Posted on June 23, 2011 at 2:05pmugh. Stewart is not a racist. Cain opened the floodgates to jokes by saying the 3 page thing. He should know that everything he says will be taken literally. I thought he meant 3 pages and i support the guy. Say what you freakin mean and none of this will happen…unless your fishing for publicity. But saying stewart is a racist because of it…c’mon!

LOL That guy is hilarious.
I really do not know his deal, he seems to think we are fake Libertarians.
Then he labels us Liberals.
For no reason.
He seems like he has a man crush on Glenn Beck, which is odd to me.

Posted on June 23, 2011 at 3:03pmWhen the Hermanator first said, “three pages,” I actually thought about it creatively for hours. Because it would be interesting to try! (The Constitution was equivalent to four of today’s pages.)
I gave him a lot of credit for expressing the problem so easily and making the challenge so elegantly!
Now Herman says it was always meant as a joke.
My admiration for his genius is much less – especially is he is covering up what might have been an original, brave, bold statement.

Posted on June 23, 2011 at 4:01pmQUOTE OF THE CENTURY, MAYBE EVEN THE MILLENNIUM
Some people have the vocabulary to sum up things in a way you can understand them. This quote came from the Czech Republic. Someone over there has it figured out. We have a lot of work to do.
“The danger to America is not Barack Obama but a citizenry capable of entrusting a man like him with the Presidency. It will be far easier to limit and undo the follies of an Obama presidency than to restore the necessary common sense and good judgment to a depraved electorate willing to have such a man for their president. The problem is much deeper and far more serious than Mr. Obama, who is a mere symptom of what ails America. Blaming the prince of the fools should not blind anyone to the vast confederacy of fools that made him their prince. The Republic can survive a Barack Obama, who is, after all, merely a fool. It is less likely to survive a multitude of fools such as those who made him their President“.
The most important thing we have to do now ~~~IS FOCUS ON THE PRIZE~~~ we MUST make sure that our candidate for POTUS makes it in the PRIMARIES.
Great, and I do mean GREAT, indepth focus on the candidates on AsAMom.Org. It is 82K and growing strong. Please let’s get this done people.

Posted on June 23, 2011 at 4:21pmSo far CAIN is the only one that is worth voting for..was for RON PAUL but when his ONLY bill that he thinks is important is POT I have no use for him.. Cain may NOT be a showboat like ROMNEY but he has an HONEST aura about him.. as for JON well at least they know CAIN is NOT a whiny baby like the left.. the left would have been playing the RACE CARD already.. As Cain said.. time for a REAL black man to stand up to OBAMA

obumbo [BIG EARS!] isn’t alone. The dumbocrat progressives and the race-political complex need to keep playing the race card, and inciting racial tensions, in order to maintain their comfortable way of life.

Posted on June 24, 2011 at 5:13amYou can imagine what Jon Stewart and every OTHER liberal would have said if anybody had mocked the EARED ONE with an Amos and Andy voice. There would have been screams of outrage to high heaven, death threats, and they would have wanted to lynch the person responsible. But hey, it’s just “all in good fun” when a liberal does a blatantly bigoted “comedy” routine about a black presidential candidate on national TV, right? The ole “liberal double standard” just gets bigger and better all the time!
As to Herman Cain, it is refreshing to see a black man who does not hate his country in general and white people in particular, who has a chip on his shoulder and is always looking for some reason to be offended. Even when confronted with Stewart’s blatantly offensive act of racism, Cain responded with grace and good humor. Jon Stewart and the rest of his Progressive cronies could take lessons from Herman Cain in “civil discourse” and a “color-blind society”.
Herman Cain would be the kind of black president who would unite the races, not divide them. When I compare this fine, principled, and courageous black man to that ethically challenged puke in the White House, it just makes me want to weep. If you Liberals were so keen on electing the first black president, why couldn’t you have picked a man like Cain, instead of the America-hating Boy Who Would Be King?

Posted on June 24, 2011 at 5:24am@ encinom, who Posted: “What a Joke Cain is. He is nothing more than a tbagging fool. If he is so thin skinned that he has to respond to Jon Stewart, he has no business leaving the pizza kitchen.”
As opposed to Obama, who is so petty and vindictive that he would let the entire state of Texas burn to the ground and not send Federal firefighting help–though he WAS able to spare several water tanker planes to help fight fires in Mexico–all because he did not get Texas electoral votes in the election. I guess that is a fair and reasonable attitude, according to the Liberal playbook, right?
And don’t give me that crap about how Jon Stewart makes fun of everybody–I never heard him use an “Amos and Andy voice” to make fun of Obama. But it’s OK to stoop to any depths if the black candidate happens to be a Conservative. The hypocrisy of you liberal fools is just mind-boggling.

Posted on June 24, 2011 at 5:30am@ middleclassprophet, Posted @ Untameable-kate: “He has used that voice for Obama. He uses voices for ALL the imitations he does and this particular joke was about what he SAID not what he looks like. For anyone to confuse the two is laughable. But not nearly as laughable as Cain being offended by this simple joke but expects to get no backlash from his Muslim comments? Please. Think skinned and trying to create headlines, pure and simple. The fact that he has so many supporters on this non-issue shows exactly how conservatives simply cannot take a joke OR even laugh at themselves…kinda sad, really”
First of all, you are full of s**t if you say Jon Stewart used voices from a famously racist 1950s TV show to mock Obama–what kind of Kool-Aid have you been drinking, you liberal fool?
And secondly, I think the whole point was that Herman Cain DID have a lot more of a sense of humor about the whole thing than Obama or any of his cohorts would have. Where were the screams of outrage from Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson? They are quick to point out ANY “racist” slight, even if they have to make one up–and not a single WORD of protest from them? You people and your hypocritical double standard are truly amazing, and truly disgusting. You make me want to throw up.

Posted on June 24, 2011 at 5:16pmHeheheh,
Let’s apply the same argument Hannity falls back on all the time:
“If Herman Cain were WHITE, would anything that Stewart said cause ANY of this outrage??? Why is there a double-standard for African-Americans? WHY can’t Herman Cain concentrate on the content of his character, rather than obsessing on the color of his skin?”
I know the answer…

Posted on June 25, 2011 at 3:01pmHerman, you’re above all this idiotic racism thingie. Please remember Jon Stewart really doesn‘t know if he’s a comedian or a politician. My vote is he’s a nothing. Maybe I’ve missed something by not watching his shows, but from the clips I see or interviews, he’s neither funny or comical. The same goes for most of those female? type comedians. Hateful, yes…….funny, NO.
