Herman Cain At VVS: ‘You Can Demonstrate All You Want on Wall Street, the Problem is 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue’

Herman Cain On Occupy Wall St: You Can Demonstrate All You Want on Wall Street, the Problem is 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue

Republican candidate for president Herman Cain has not shied away from addressing anti-capitalistic “Occupy” protesters. Cain received a standing ovation at the Voter Values Summit Friday, when the Georgia businessman called out the groups as “anti-capitalism“ and ”anti-free market:”

“They are not working on the right problem,” said Cain. “Wall Street didn’t write those failed policies. Wall Street didn’t spend a trillion dollars. You can demonstrate all you want on Wall Street, the problem is 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.”

ABC News reports that the former CEO of Godfather’s Pizza touted his 9-9-9 economic plan at the event where the crowd chanted “9-9-9″ along with the candidate. Cain’s plan would put in place a 9 percent sales tax and reduce income and corporate taxes to a flat 9 percent.

“Don’t be jealous, don’t be envious,” Cain said of the Wall Street protesters at a book tour stop Wednesday. “I don’t have much patience for someone who does not want to achieve their American dream the old-fashioned way.”

While Cain would finish second in the VVS presidential straw poll, it was announced Saturday that the Georgian won the Midwest Republican Leadership Conference straw poll.

A perennial basement dweller in early polls on the 2012 GOP field, Cain has surged in recent weeks following the release of his 9-9-9 plan and slip-ups in the campaign of Gov. Rick Perry.

Cain jokingly told ABC News that the recent uptick in his support has led rivals to put a bulls eye on his back.

“They are afraid that this long shot may not be a long shot any longer.”

If he makes it into the home stretch, I’ll back him 100% Oh, and gee, I’m a white guy to boot! I have some issues with this 999 deal/ I went and put new tires, struts, wheel alignment and an oil change on my mothers 2000 corolla it cost me over a grand.my mother is on a fixed income if you add another 9% on to that (that would be tax on a tax on a tax) I”m 46 and can afford it
(mom not so much)when someone has already paid a higher fed tax and has retired then you add a

If you look at it, by what you pay out, you are only going half way.
The other half has two parts.
When the system kicks in and the econmy starts moving “in the right direction”as it pick-up so will the in- flow of money. competition brings higher wages, for the most desired employees, wich triggers personal exceptionalism …That make key empoyees in demand. and being indemand means higher wages and benifit packages……to pay the bills.
      And
the other side is if you have a bussiness ,you will be able to keep more of your money,to invest and grow
hire more people ,give more incentives to aquire more production wich in turn means, reinvesting in..employees ,property, assets.on and on.
      Definitely a growth plan.

Of course none of this is worth…nothing if we dont see 2012′

      I prefer this speech
      http://www.ronpauljournal.com/events/1145/ron-paul-value-voters-summit-transcript/
      1. Seven differences between Ron Paul and Herman Cain: 1) Herman Cain supported TARP. Ron Paul does not support bailouts or “too big to fail” dogma 2) Herman Cain thinks auditing the Fed is a waste of time. Ron Paul demands an audit of the Fed. 3) Herman Cain said in 2006 there was no housing bubble and the media made it up because they don’t like Republicans. Ron Paul predicted for years the collapse of the housing bubble. 4) Herman Cain supports the Bush foreign policy of endless, unconstitutional, preemptive wars. Ron Paul believes in the principle of non intervention and constitutionally mandated war powers. 5) Herman Cain would continue the War on Drugs. Ron Paul would pardon all nonviolent drug offenders and let states design their own drug laws. 6) Herman Cain thinks 90% of the Patriot Act is “right on.” Ron Paul would repeal the Patriot Act. 7) Herman Cain thinks tax reform is the solution to the financial crisis. Ron Paul believes monetary policy, regulations, and “too big to fail” are where the boom-bust cycle comes from.

Two things you’re not taking into account.
      1. The 9-9-9 replaces payroll taxes that would be otherwise taken out of your mother’s fixed income check helping ot offset the 9% sales tax.
      2. It makes sure EVERYONE has some skin in the game which is the only way we’ll ever be able to get a handle on the out of control entitlement culture in this country.

I think we can see Cain’s strategy. First he says that protesters are “anti-capitalist“ and ”anti-free market.” Now he says that it‘s the government’s fault the economy collapsed because of the “policies” they imposed on Wall Street during the Bush administration (Bush deregulated Wall Street, but whatever). It’s just like he said he would impose a religious test on judges and prohibit mosques from being built, something he backed away from when others pointed out those measures violate the First Amendment. He was the anti-Islam candidate before, now he’s not.

So that’s his strategy: make provocative statements that the Tea Party loves, then backing off of them when people point out he would be violating the Constitution of the United States. And he’s blaming the collapse of the economy on President Obama, although it took place a year before Obama too office.

But, this is politics – a fact free world.

Republicorp – did you ever think it was because something was added onto these bills that cause RPaul to reject them? You can go back and read the entire bill, but that is often the case.

Ron Paul has delivered thousands of babies, often giving prenatal care to unwed mothers who couldn’t afford any. He is a staunch defender of human life and the second amendment. And where in the Constitution does it say that Congress has the ability to legislate morality let alone marriage? Or do you also spit on the Constitution when it doesn’t agree with your way of thinking?

      Previously posted …
Mr. Cain is proposing a change in the way taxes are paid, not spent.
      Be careful with this one.

If you look at your personal income tax rate now, it’s close to 9%, maybe a little higher.
If you own a company, as I do, the company does not pay taxes, it’s not supposed to.
All wealth transfers to the personal wealth of the employees.
Yes, the company does pay taxes on the property the building sits on but it does not pay an income tax.
The firm’s profits are divided in several forms.
To start with, it’s set up as a cooperative with profit sharing.
Before the end of the fiscal year, bonuses are paid, benefits are modified and whatever has to be done to force the double ledger to reflect dollars in equals dollars out.

Yes, there are other write-offs, but Mr. Cain says there will be no write-offs under his plan
So, the firm will pass all profit to the members of the cooperative in the form of profit sharing.
The government will then make a guaranteed 9% on the companies profit through the employees personal income, which increases, but only if the company does well.

Next is Mr. Cain plans to impose a 9% national sales tax on goods and services.
EVERTHING will go up in price.
We do NOT have a VAT now.
The feds have been wanting a VAT for a LONG time.
This is their way of getting one, on top of the income tax.

      To Ron Paul Supporters

      The way it looks now;
The riots will commence in the spring of 2012 promoted by ACORN off shoots, SEIU and SOROS.
Ron Paul will place his name on the ballot
Barry Soetoro will loose the popular vote by a very small margin and be appointed by the electoral college
      The riots will escalate
Barry will compare himself to Abraham Lincoln, declare martial law and toss the US Constitution out the window
The second civil war will commence
The new government will attempt to confiscate personal property, businesses and land
The FBI, CIA and Secret Service will be forced to act against citizens in the name of civility
The Military will loose major funding unless they become the government’s police
Internment camps already built are ready to accept the American infidels
America will be a socialist nation in one year and on a fast track to communism
The Senate and House will be meaningless, and SOROS money will control the massive unelected bureaucracy
In three years, the United States of America will vanish, forever

This is how the Middle East sees it happening to all western nations
Sharia law will be in place in less then three years

Yes he did work for the fed at one time but seems he moved on to greener pastures, did you ever think it wasn’t his cup of tea?? May you look back at the Clinton health care bill and who was the one to put it to a stop? As for these fools on wall street it was Dodd/Frank that did this with their bill and the rest of congress that are fools!!! We live by the laws THEY put into the books, do you make the laws to live by? And as for foreign policy how many who take office have it?? You have some Senators and some House members that maybe sit on a committee but what does your Govie know about it? And yet we seem to think they have to have been a Govie to hold this office does that seem right? We can’t have a business man in this office? Yet most say the government is run like a business!

Cain WORKED FOR the Fed; he was not a policy maker.
So, stop laying the Fed‘s new policy issues at Cain’s feet.
Do you remember Alan Greenspan? Or is that so long ago you have wiped him from memory. Greenspan had sound monetary policies. Having worked FOR the Fed can also be a MAJOR PLUS for Cain – who else knows what is wrong with it better than someone who used to work WITH it?
I think most of us would like to see an end of the Fed. However, do you require that we do that at the exact same time we are repealing obamacare? That we are abolishing the IRS? That we are restoring states’ rights? That we are strengthening our military?
Do you insist we do ALL of these things overnight?
The man will only have four years (if he is elected), and if he can get THREE items on that list done it will be an AMAZING start to the Restoration of America!

HEY – Here’s a campaign angle for ya, Mr. Cain …
      Restore America!
This time, a black man will be the Architect for America’s Restoration.
This time, a black man will LEAD the Restoration of America.
This time, America will not be built ON black men, but BY a proud black man! By proud Americans!
This time, WE WILL ALL restore America!
This time, WE WILL ALL UNITE!, and RESTORE all that is GOOD about America!
      (Or something along those lines)
      ( Imagine, a post-racial president… Hey, wait, wasn’t this current guy supposed…? lol )

      (Not an endorsement)

I have three issues with Newt: 1) His embrace of the global warming ideology shows that he did not think through the ramifications of giving afederal agency the power to regulate and control in the name of vague and incomplete science. He went there once, he easily could again. 2) His years in Washington saw him go in with powerful ideas and compromise many of them for political expediency. He says he has learned a lesson after being out of power, and I’d like to believe him, but I have to say I am leary. 3) Many great men have been poor or adulterous husbands, but I am still bothered by his marital issues. It isn’t a deal breaker, just a nagging little thing that plants seeds of doubt in my head about his character. I have nothing but respect for his intellect and knowledge of history, and I think too few in Washington truly grasp the lessons of American History as he does, but I hesitate for these three reasons. Ipersonally would like to see Cain select someone with the foreign policy knowledge he lacks, someone like Condoleeza Rice or Bolton or Petreaus. I know so many have turned anti War and anti involvement in the Middle East, but I think if Cain is chosen through the primaries, he needs to put in place a team that can articulate a clear repudiation of Obama’s “lead from behind” or Pauls isolationism, and explain why we need to remain engaged in the world for our own security. I like his common sense, but he needs experience backing him

Couple that with repealing most of the job killing regulations and laying off unions at the federal level, and we will have a good start. Someone needs to do their own research. Cain says: We all know the Fed has tripled the money supply since 2008. They have been printing money out of thin air to finance the Obama spending machine. While true Fed reform that restores sound money may have to wait for my election, the best thing we can do now is to pursue policies that increase the DEMAND for dollars to help mitigate the risks associated with the increase in the supply.

Cain was on the board of the Fed (KC) in the mid ‘90’s when no one was concerned about them. So to me this is a very weak concern. What else do you have?

You can untangle the mess, but you probably don’t care to, because in all your smugness you believe you already know it all.

It all started way back in 1977 with the Community Reinvestment Act. In the 90′s Clinton strong armed Fanny and Freddy to make more high risk loans to low income borrowers (6% growth in home ownership). Bush didn’t change course much, but did repeatedly ask for more oversight of Fanny & Freddy (1% growth in home ownership). Congressman Barney Frank was the head of that oversight committee… now let’s see what did he do?

Kinda like since, you know, the Republican congress is primarily white men+ and slaves were owned by white men hundreds of years ago=all those white men must be racist, right?

lol And now those racist are gonna elect a real black man to the Presidency!!! Get ready for your tea ******!

@sportlock – Yes that’s how they play it, and don’t let the cat out of the bag to these idiot agitators that the first “slave for life” in America was actually owned by a black man: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Casor

Don’t teach you that in school now do they?

    I agree, Herman.
If only there are enough of us left that agree to that, we may yet have ‘change you can believe in’ by Nov 2012.
This Marxist has got to go.
