Herman Cain Says He’s Suspending Presidential Campaign

Herman Cain is ending his campaign for president, he announced Saturday.
“We had to come to this conclusion that it would be best to suspend this campaign,” Cain told several hundred supporters at what was supposed to be the opening of his national campaign headquarters in Atlanta.
The announcement came five days after an Atlanta-area woman claimed she had a 13-year extramarital affair with the former Godfather’s Pizza CEO and amid several allegations of sexual harassment made against him.
Cain again emphatically denied all of the allegations, but said the “continued distractions, the continued hurt caused on me and my family” necessitated his decision.
“This false and unproved allegations continue to be spinned in the media and in the court of public opinion so as to create a cloud of doubt over me and this campaign and my family. That spin hurts,” he said. “It hurts my wife, it hurts my family, it hurts me and it hurts the American people because you are being denied solutions to our problems.”
Cain, joined by his wife Gloria, said he is at peace with God, his wife, his family and himself. Several times, the audience interrupted his speech to chant “Gloria! Gloria!”
“I know that many of you are disappointed,” he continued. “I understand that…I am disappointed that it came to this point, that we had to make this decision.”
Cain said he will endorse of another Republican candidate “in the near future,” though did not indicate who it would be.
According to CBS, Cain called at least some of his GOP rivals prior to his announcement.
“We have talked to the Cain camp, but we don’t want to characterize the conversations,” Michele Bachmann spokeswoman Alice Stewart confirmed to the network.
Cain insisted he will not simply vanish from the national spotlight, and will continue to be a voice, announcing the launch of a new website to be called thecainsolutions.com. He called it his “Plan B” — a grassroots effort to return government to the people.
“The pundits would like for me to shut up, drop out, and go away,” he said. “I am not going to be silenced and I am not going away!”
Cain said he wanted to leave the crowd with one final message, joking “I believe these words came from the Pokemon movie, the media pointed that out.”
“Life can be a challenge. Life can seem impossible. It‘s never easy when there’s so much on the line. But you and I can make a difference. There’s a mission just for you and me, just look inside and you will find just what you can do,” Cain said. “I’ve had to look inside to find what I can do. And here’s what I can do, here’s what we can do: We can put ‘united’ back into the United States of America and move this shining city on a hill back to the top of the hilltop where it belongs!”

All people need to pay the same percentage of their income in tax whether they make $1,000 a year or $10,000,000 a year. Furthermore, no one should pay more than 10% of their income in total taxes (i.e., local, state and federal combined). If 10% is all that God asks us to give to the Church, rich and poor alike, then that should be enough for the government. I guarantee you that the government would be a lot more responsible and people wouldn’t be so quick to ask for “free” stuff from the government (i.e., their neighbors), if we had such a system where everyone had a dog in the fight. Not only that, the American economy would take off like a rocket if we only had a 10% flat tax for everyone and the generosity of people with their newfound wealth would quickly replace the welfare state.

Posted on December 3, 2011 at 2:04pmNewt is a RINO that is a big part of the machine and so is Romney. Santorum or Bachman is our only hope.

Posted on December 3, 2011 at 2:07pmI agree .. we may have to put in someone who is “moderate” … which means doesn’t have the guts to be a conservative .. until we can get enough into the Republican party that are .. .I hate having to hold my nose and vote for the MSM Republican choice.
I pray no one pulls a McCain and Huckabee this time .. remember Huckabee stayed in and gave his delegates to McCain .. McCain was NOT the people’s choice.

Posted on December 3, 2011 at 2:10pmWhy Newt? Newt may be able to chew up Obama and spit him out in a debate, but will he really have the temperament for the presidency? We don’t need another arrogant president. I tend to trust Glenn Beck’s judgment and have decided to take another look at Bauchman.

Posted on December 3, 2011 at 2:16pmYes Rob,
Report Post »Now we have Newt. How can we be so lucky? He says, in an ad with Pelosi, Global Warming is man made.
He votes in favor of gun control legislation, but says he’s against gun control and in favor of the 2nd Amendment.
But hey! We can vote for Romney or Perry. What a deal.
WE are going to have to decide for ourselves who we want and support that candidate. Every time there is a good Conservative candidate who makes it to the top of the heap that the people like the left wing media tear them apart. It doesn’t matter if the allegations are true or not. They keep it up until the candidate is “run out of town”. If you tell a lie often enough people start to believe it.
Look what they did to Palin and Bachmann. They are both great conservative presidential material who love this country and believe in the Constitution. But they aren’t what the left wing media want as president so they tear them down and run them out of town, so to speak.
If Michelle Bachmann makes it onto the ballot she has my vote because she has morals and values. Her past record shows that. She is a Christian who believes in our Constitution and the left can’t stand her for that.

Posted on December 3, 2011 at 2:31pmIf you’re not thinking Bachmann, then you’re not thinking clearly, period. I hate having to tell people who to choose, but let’s be realistic, people. Why would anybody in their right mind allow themselves to believe that a career politician – regardless of whether he is dem or repub – is somehow going to do a 360 and give us what we want? How many times do you people have to be fleeced before you wake up and smell that odor???
Palin was obviously my first choice, and only Bachmann CLEARLY represents a traditional American’s ideals and values and priorities.
I hope you people realize that regardless of who we field now, Obama is probably going to get re-elected. Don’t underestimate the vast numbers of losers in this country. So, doesn’t it make the most sense for us to field a candidate the contrasts the SHARPEST with the Marxist? If nothing else, we’ll at least get a better indicator of just how many losers exist in this country, so we can prepare the future plans accordingly.
Think, people. Don‘t do something foolish and support a candidate just because you’ve been hoodwinked into believing that candidate can beat the Marxist. Don’t do it!

Posted on December 3, 2011 at 3:10pmI just have a problem believing so many people are ignoring the message of limited government and long record of conservative leadership staring you in the face. Governorship should always be the deciding factor in choosing a presidential candidate. If a person has no experience of governing how can you judge their record? Gov. Rick Perry has outlined a plan to bring us back to the principles of our Constitution. Isn’t this what we are agreed this country needs? Would you not like to see congress a part time job? Would you not like to see a paycut for washington? Are you for limiting government or not? Are you for disbanding unconstitutional agencies or not? IMO no other candidate has stated so clearly what problems they would tackle and how they would do it. States Rights and the Constitution is the top tier issue in this country today. Ignore this and America dies.
