Herman Cain’s Ex-Staffers Blast Campaign: ‘Terribly Managed’

Rep. Michelle Bachmann and Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich are given a pass this time. In this instance, Herman Cain is the presidential contender coming under fire by former staff members.

According to ex-staffers, the Herman Cain 2012 campaign is being “terribly managed.” Other complaints include “Cain rarely campaigned and often skipped events at the last minute,” and that the Atlanta businessman “failed to provide supplies as basic as signs,” reports Newser.

In fact, according to some staff members, they’ve had to purchase basic campaign supplies like signs and bumper stickers with their own money.

“Everything we tried to do was like pulling teeth to get accomplished,” said an ex-Iowa staffer. “It was like they were running for sophomore class president.”

“It was frustrating because we couldn’t get him here,” another Iowa worker complained, adding, “We couldn’t even get our own email addresses.”

Another staffer said he quit after receiving a memo forbidding staff driving with Cain from speaking unless the presidential candidate spoke first. Cain’s former Tennessee financial chairman, meanwhile, recalls an incident in which Cain simply forgot to show up to fundraiser where supporters were prepared to donate up to $2,500 each, reports Newser.

“I thought, wow, good communication there,” he says, though he adds, “This is his first rodeo, so people make mistakes.”

Of course, Cain’s current staff is defending him.

“He can’t be everywhere at once, but we are doing everything we can as best we can,” said Mr. Gordon, a spokesman for the Cain campaign, in the Times article.

Furthermore, keep in mind that the majority of this widely-circulating report was provided by The New York Times and it comes on the heels of former Bush White House Adviser Karl Rove declaring that Cain’s campaign was at its end.

The report may reflect real dysfunction in the Cain camp or, as Cain himself says, it could just be “a deliberate attempt” to destroy his campaign.

Each candidate has staffers who quit & then speak ill of the candidate. C’est la vie. Carl Rove does not want Cain to be the Republican candidate. If he has anything to do with this, the negative reports wouldn’t surprise me.

Doesn’t say much for the business executive capabilities he is bringing to the office. Perhaps like most companies there were some smarter people actually running Godfathers.

“former staff members”. Always the ones to say how bad the campaign is run. I wonder how many of them took the job thinking it would be easy money till Cain faded away.

Really for gods sake. If they want to work for a candidate that can throw money at problems they should just sign up with Obama. Guess those people didn’t have true conviction to begin with. They should have used their social networking skills and raised money amongst Facebook friends to pay for stickers. What’s so hard about getting the domain and creating your own email. Make a temporary one in the meanwhile. They should release the names of these whiners so we no who not to work with. Besides they are giving Cain a bad name so they should be open publicly with their personal info.

because Mr Cain is the ONLY Genuine 100% ALL-AMERICAN BLACK facing Nov 2012, no doubts all the negativity against Mr Cain & about him is all designed to discredit Mr Cain.

Why is there never former ex-staffers that do no bash the former boss, but come out as a cheerleader even if they are not part core of the campaign. By definition if they are a ex- anything they left because they did not like things so will not say nice things.

Exactly. It doesn’t matter how these silly staffers “perceive” how the campaign is going…its the results that matter.

And based on the results, Cain is running one of the most successful campaigns in recent history. He’s beating out Romney, who is by far the most capable of raising money. And he’s doing it with less money.

These staffers shouldn’t be staffers if their primary goal is to purchase effing office supplies. The primary goal should be, as is my personal goal, to get Cain elected as President.

I donated last week. I think I’ll donate again just to spite these staffers.

And might I ask, who are these “staffers”? And why don’t we have their names?

Any time you have hearsay-accusations from anonymous “former staffers”, the only conclusion you can draw is that someone wants to do damage to the campaign…if the testimony were truthful and from genuine staffers, they’d give their names to provide further credibility.

Like I care what some elitist staffer thinks about how the campaign is being run…

Obviously, these staffers don’t know what qualifies as a “successfully run” campaign, because Herman Cain went from almost zero name ID to 80% name ID and 30% positive intensity, along with leading a number of polls, in just 9 months. And all without borrowing a cent.

    THAT is a successful campaign.

If these staffers think that the success of a campaign is determined by the number of posters you buy or the offices you rent, then they haven’t the first clue about running a successful campaign. That line of thinking is the same as believing that the first thing you do in starting a business is take out a fat loan and lease office space and a bunch of equipment…

That’s how you start a business…if your goal is to go bankrupt and fail…
