Heroic Marine Attacked at Welcome Home Party

Lance Cpl. Marcus Uribe recently returned from his tour of duty unscathed after months of fighting in Afghanistan. But just three weeks later, it would be an incident on U.S. soil that threatened the young Marine’s life.

Uribe, a 21-year-old Colorado native, was attending a welcome home party in Surfside Beach, Texas, when police say some uninvited guests arrived and stirred up a confrontation. According to news reports, one man aimed his pickup truck at a crowd of partygoers and stepped on the gas. Uribe bravely reacted, pushing a bystander out of the way.

“Once he did that he fell, and that’s when the truck had already hit the first three people and then ran over the top of Marcus,” Uribe’s dad says.

After the dust settled, emergency crews found Uribe with a fractured skull, being cradled by the man he pushed from the truck’s path. “He saved my life,” the man told them.Heroic Marine Attacked at Welcome Home Party

Uribe was transferred home to an Englewood, Colo., hospital Thursday, a health center that specializes in dealing with head and spinal cord injuries. According to his family, his condition is stable; he’s a bit shaky on his feet and his speech has slowed, but they are hopeful for a full recovery.

Prior to his career in the Marine Corps, Uribe attended Columbine High School where he played football. He enlisted in the armed forces immediately following his high school graduation.

“I think when he joined the Marines he found that same brotherhood he had when he played on the Columbine football team,” his father Jeff told CBS4.

The suspect in the incident is being held on several charges, including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

      I think the Local people should throw him a bigger party when he gets out of the hospital and is feeling up to it, they could set up a fund for people to contribute to it and post it on The Blaze…I ‘d pitch in and we can get some Veterans to do security, take lots of Pictures then post them on The Blaze for people like 13 Degeneration to see and Pop a Blood Vessel.       all of us are behind the marine, remember it sucks to wake up. and im still snoozing myself but im closer to getting out of the bed, not at all because of this story but because of everything thats going on. i dont care if someone hates beck, who i like a lot, but its bigger then that, dont fall for partisan lines, the right or the left cant win what we might face soon alone, a lot of our allies wont like beck. people dont have to like beck to be on our side. but our side will gives lives for people to openly disapprove of beck, and hopefully the left finds a figure like beck that fights for american ideas and denounces violence. and i speak of the american left, not the communist ‘left’

      I think this driver should be forced to serve in the Marines, and if he refuses, he should be sent to ‘visit’ one of their bases here…. of course, after they inform everyone on base what he has done. If no mercy is shown…. too bad! He obviously wasn’t planning on showing any to these innocent people.

      @mizflame98, I’ll volunteer to be the Range Safety Officer for that particular day. We should have him do it on one of Camp Pendleton’s ranges. There are plenty of hills and such. I’m not sure what we could use them for. But they’re there.

      I am a Marine, and no one better touch the driver. This is exactly what the enemy wants, and what Beck has been warning us about. Yeah, woulda been great if he had ‘not survived’ his assault through “mysterios means”, but he did survive, no let him face his legal due. trust me, he’ll be “handled’ while incarcerated. Now SHUT YOUR CAKEHOLES ABOUT RETRIBUTION, AND CALM DOWN.
      About this particular Marine, it’s nothing more than what I would expect from one of my Brothers. he did his duty, under his oath, that: “I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same”…nothing more, nothing less. To give a Marine a medal for valor is somewhat redundent, since all Marines are alive to live with valor.       There is no honor in America under an Obama Administration. No doubt Eric Holder will have this soldier charged with the crime of self assault for being beaten up. After all, its ok to punish Americans and offend us by mandating sexual assaults at the airport for everyone except the criminals who caused the “need” for increased “safety” requirements.

      Heads Up! Obama may do a recess appointment of Andrew Traver a man who advocates the expansion of the prohibited person list to include any person who has ever been treated for any type of mental health issue, to run the BATFE. So it is no surprise that he also supports using digitized medical records in back ground checks. Not only is he a key player in the anti-gun movement, he also favors using gray area regulations to “shut down and imprison gun dealers by any means necessary.”

      I agree with St. Michelob about the retribution. That’s exactly what the Dems want. However, shunning is a different story. I hope all his co-workers find out about this and choose silence rather than violence, separation rather than altercation.

      By the way, it seems to me that the story indicates that there were others that were hit by the truck. I also would like to extend my best wishes for speedy recovery to them, also.

      And I hope that the justice system does the right thing for all those involved, not just because it was one of our soldiers who was the victim but because it was the right thing to do, but I’m praying particularly hard that the jury or judge will do the right thing. Wonder if that dingbat has any priors?

      Remember the name Gerald DeLuna for those living in Surfside Beach, Texas area. Let’s see that he gets the maximum the law allows. Obviously he is not a positive contributor to society so a long jail sentence would be the best place for him. I am surprised I didn’t see attempted murder with a deadly weapon as one of the charges.

      THIS MAN WAS 20 MINUTES FROM MY HOUSE. I WANT TO KNOW WHO DID THIS TO A HONORED MARINE. I’M SHOCKED & PISSED OFF. THIS IS THE TYPE OF CRIME SHOULD BE ADDED TO THE LIST OF DEATH PENALTY CHARGES.
