‘He’s a Stutterer’: Trump Mocks Meyers’ Performance at ’Inappropriate’ D.C. Dinner

CNN:

Donald Trump reacted to the onslaught of jokes about him by President Barack Obama and comedian Seth Meyers at the White House Correspondents Association Dinner Saturday with his own view of the events.

“You get to a certain level and you rise to a certain level, let’s say in this case in the polls and boy, does the world come after you,” Trump, a potential 2012 candidate, said on “Fox and Friends” Sunday.

“I really knew what I was getting into last night. I had no idea it would be to that extent where, you know just joke after joke after joke,” the mogul said. “It was almost like, is there anyone else they can talk about?”

He also found the event “inappropriate in certain respects” and spent the evening thinking about how “the American people are really suffering and we’re all having a good time.”

And what was his assessment of Meyers’ comedic timing?

“His (Meyers) deliver was not good. He’s a stutterer and he really was having a hard time,” Trump said of the “Saturday Night Live” star.

I remember McCain cowering to Obama during the ‘healthcare summit’. McCain trying to make a point and then running like a dog with his tail between his legs when Obama reminded him that ‘he had lost the election.‘ The Old Guard Republicans have no spine and don’t know how to get their message out. That’s something Trump will have no trouble doing. He won’t sit around and take it. Republicans have to take responsibility for where America is…..we’ve just sat around and taken it. And it shows with the leadership we’ve elected UNTIL this last election.

With your kind of civility we’d still be under British rule. The Republicans have put up McCain, Bob Dole, and though I voted for him, the big spending GW Bush. We cannot afford those type of candidates for president in the future. If the next candidate doesn’t have the conservative, limited gov‘t ideas AND even more importantly if he can’t ariticulate these ideas America is lost. REad up on Malcom. There are so many parallels between them. If you read about Malcom’s life, it will explain Obama’s dislike of the police. It also explains why Obama bowed to the Saudi King.

Yes, to the effect, I‘m glad he’s shown it, now we just have to see if it’s the real thing. When you’re telling lies, it is never, never, a good thing to laugh or poke at the person who has caught you in one. It makes them strive harder to prove you are the liar, so they can come back and say, see, I told you he was lying, and you didn’t believe me. Then you really have a ****, strutting its stuff, in the chicken coop, to have to deal with. And those “I told you so people” are so annoying.

Remember when Obama belittled the Supreme Court at the State of the Union speech? They were unable to respond. Really KIZZZZY, you “don’t get” personal attacks? Go figure. Trump best grow some. IT’S A COMEDIC EVENT!! He spent the evening thinking about how the American people are really suffering and we’re all having a good time.” ?? yeh, sure. Mr Empathy. If that was the case, he wouldn’t have gone in the first place. We watched live. About 160 seconds talked about by Seth, more by Obama, but not NEARLY as much as he’ll be talked about/criticized if he runs/wins. BTW, he also said he’d show his tax records if President Obama showed his birth certificate. Pony up, Mr. Trump. RUN DONALD RUN. :) He’s clearly running on the “can dish it out but can’t take it” ticket. TrumPalin 2012!!

All jokes are not created equal, and you are surely smart enough to have picked up on that. All Trump needs to grow is perhaps a little more hair.

I am thinking that Allen West’s reluctance to run is based on money. He is worried that it might destroy him financially if he jumps in. Now, a Trump/West ticket would alleviate that fear. Trumps money and balls combined with the bullet proof patriotism of West would be an unbeatable combination. Just a thought.

Trump is correct that the event was, “inappropriate in certain respects” and “the American people are really suffering and we’re all having a good time.”

I watched the show and while everyone got ribbed a few times, the piling-on on Trump went to the level of bullying. I remember thinking, “OK, enough already with the Trump jokes – we got it… What’s with twisting the knife over and over? – this is begining to look like sick humor delivered by an insane clown posse.”

Trump can take it, I’ve no doubt, but it ceased being funny when they started treating him like a pinata. The left showed that they are capable of focusing all their attention on something – it‘s just sad that their focus is always what it will take to keep themselves in power instead of what’s good for the country. I’d like to at least see some effort to right the economy before we throw Obama and the rest of the Democrats out in 2012. That said, I wouldn’t trust Obama with a 2nd term even if he beatified Milton Friedman.

The sad truth is that Trump and Palin both are way too thin skinned to be in politics. The both have a long history of going on the attack if anyone criticizes them publicly (Palin recently slammed Couric when she announced the departure from network TV – still holding a grudge). Trump has been on this ridiculous crusade against the President, sending “investigators” to Hawaii, saying Obama’s grandparents put birth announcement in the newspaper, suggesting the birth certificate says he’s a Muslim etc. He is on the news several times a week attacking Obama. He can dish it out, but wow, he hears what, five jokes?, thrown his way and he can’t take it.

The hair, the pomposity, his narcissistic love of telling everyone how rich he is (much richer than Romney he likes to point out), it all begs to be mocked.

“Obama-Mecca-Me-Sick” – LOL — love it! Along with other “names” on here….ha! Liked the one who said Obama laughs bc he has to, etc.; we like Trump bc he owes nothing to anyone. That’s why he can say what he says. He really doesn’t care if people like it or not, if it’s “pc” or not. That’s the kind of stuff we want in our next President — these “jokes” show you how worried and upset the left is with him. Good news. They are scared to death of him – showing & saying what Obama really is. It’s not that we like all of Trumps “personality traits”, it’s just this ability to say stuff we want the others to say – like Rush does. Rush can say what he wants too bc he has a radio show & doesn’t care about running for office. I wouldn’t be surprised if he runs & I think if he does, it’s out of genuine love for the country – can’t stand to stand by and let her fall. He truly thinks he has the confidence/expertise in key areas that would restore us back to being respected and prosperous, etc. However, he doesn’t seem to undersstand/acknowledge that in order to do that, we need God – he thinks he can do it on his own…plus I think he doesn’t seem to see that he has been “inappropriate” himself with his recent bad language rant. And no, don’t think he should have said about the guy being a “stutterer” but that comes with his very candid style of talking….but I do wish he’d reign that in. Think it‘s good for him to see what it’s like though…and good for the other Repubs. to see we like a “fighter” and not some “pc” person…..can’t stand it when they are talking about Obama…”he’s a nice guy, but”. No, he‘s not a nice guy and you don’t have to say that. You can show respect for people other than saying things that are lies about them just to be polite or something. Oh well…..we’ll see how it all pans out……..

      .
Anyone who says Trump is thin-skinned obviously didn’t watch him being roasted at an event that was billed as the “Donald Trump Roast”. He was outrageously skewered but it was for charity.

The WHCA dinner wasn’t billed as a Trump Roast, so it was at the very least inappropriate to pile on so hard. Nothing was said that Trump hadn’t heard before – (and worse!), so Trumps’ (and my) opposition to the WHCA dinner is not that Trump was picked on, but that the left is so out of touch with common people and common decency.

As the polls have shown, Trump’s popularity stems from his defense of the average workers (taxpayers) who are over-burdened by this overly left-leaning government. We like that he is speaking up for us and fighting back because he is able to be heard where we are ignored by the MSM. We don‘t care that he’s richer than us if he got rich honestly… but we’re tired of the politicians getting rich and staying in power through dishonesty.

The over-the-top attacks on Trump just showed all of us how much the left doesn’t get it. We resent that we have to work so hard to be heard over the ceaseless caterwauling’ of the MSM on behalf of the left.

Obama and Seth were much funnier when they kept the jokes in balance – when they were making fun of their left-wing friends too. They should have stopped with only one or two Trump jokes while they were ahead.

      JZS:

Well, no Palin, no Trump, no GOP victory in 2012 – or worse – a RINO, setting our party back another 8-12 years.

I think you need to re-evaluate what you deem to be an important characteristic. If most feel as you do, then we’re in serious trouble.

All jokes aside have you ever seen a United States President act like this?

the people of Alabama are not laughing
hundreds are dead and unaccounted for across the south their relatives are not laughing
the people of Texas are not laughing as their state burns (not a mention by Obama)
unemployment at record highs the people are not laughing in the unemployment lines
the people who lost their homes to foreclosure are not laughing

I’m so embarrassed this man/child is our President.

Oh my good God, people. I just read about a dozen comments and can‘t believe what I’ve read.
#1: Trump IS running on the “joke” ticket. He is a media “******” and attention….“******”. He fails at policy and is a one-trick pony. (****** pun intended). He deserves all the mockery given as he is about as serious a presidential canidate as Superman, citizen of the world.
#2 Seth Meyers’ comedy and delivery were both spot on, and I ROLLED laughing at all his jokes. Even jabbing at the tea party and such which “should” have offended me. It didn’t. It was comedy in a roast atmosphere. And he was exemplary. (spelled right? never typed that word before…)
#3 YOU ARE ALL TEA-BAGGING RACISTS. GO DON YOUR SHEETS AND SNUGGLE UP TO YOUR CORPORATE MASTERS!
#4 Liberal day! Everyone get you some mockery on here today!

THIS IS ONLY A SMALL example of what will happen to anyone that dares to run against Obama. Fraud, deceit, humiliation…it’s only just begun. Look at what they have done and continue to do to Palin…THEY ONLY DO THIS TO PEOPLE THEY SEE AS A THREAT TO THEIR RULE.

He needs that 4 extra years to completely destroy our country. Stupid people like the comedians and MSM…
YOU will be the first people Obama shuts down.

Sometimes though they get it right. both of your examples of “strength”, Palin and Trump, are actually so weak they should not even be whispered as contenders. We are in the fight to save America here, and if we are stuck with another McCain failbot then life as we know it will be so far gone….no metaphor can describe it. i suggest to EVERYONE posting here that you read the book “The Grapes of Wtath” by John Steinbeck. It is a work of fiction about the American Great depression, and details what families did in order to survive. At the end of the book, a teenage mother breast-fed a starving man in order to sustain his life.
It don’t get no more graphic then that.

I’d love to see Trump and Obama one-on-one…..no teleprompter allowed. We‘ll see who’s being laughed at then. Obama has never had to face such vindictiveness. The golden boy is used to adulation, not reality.
