Hezbollah Official Strategizes Islamist Destruction of Israel After U.S. Leaves Iraq

Radical Islamists may be applauding once the United States military forces finally retreat from the battlefield in Iraq.
On Sunday, MP Brig.-Gen. (ret.) Walid Sakariya, a senior Hezbollah official, made some startling televised statements about plans to destroy Israel. According to a transcript provided by IMRA, he said:
“Iran is the country most hostile to Israel, but Iraq serves as a buffer between Iran and the Palestine front – from the days of Saddam Hussein and until the U.S. military presence in Iraq. Iran supports the forces of confrontation: Hamas, Hizbullah, and Syria.
If, following the U.S. withdrawal, Iraq becomes a bridge linking Iran to Syria, the Iranian forces could cross Iraq and arrive in Syria, in order to participate in a direct war on the Golan front.
In that case, Israel would not be fighting Hizbullah alone. It would be fighting Hizbullah, Syria, Iraq, and Iran. This is the so-called ‘Shiite Crescent’ that they fear…”

If we get drawn into another war, especially one of this magnitude, I see the end of America as we know it. How are we going to afford another war with America already at the brink of bankruptcy and the military stretched thin. I could see this being WW3 lasting a decade or more. Posted on August 11, 2011 at 12:29pmWhile I have no use for another war, defence spending is low on average. We are currently at about 21%, normal is 25% and we have seen 50% in decades past. Again, was should be avoided if at all possible, but there is no reason to think the USA can not defend herself and/or her allies. Besides, all our economy needs to square up is significant spending cuts. In the event they ever actually address that we will be in pretty good shape.
