‘High Capacities’: If Iran Calls For a Unified Muslim World Coalition, Would That Be a, um, uh…Caliphate?

As the Iranian military fires tear gas into the crowds on the streets of Tehran and state-run media fills the airwaves with anti-western propaganda, the Ayatollah Khamenei appears to be calling for a unified Muslim world, saying;

“If the Muslim world becomes acquainted with its high capacities and capabilities, conditions will drastically change and the Muslim world can play a role in international developments as an influential power.”

Hmmm, “the Muslim world can play a role in international developments as an influential power.”  Nothing in that statement about a single country.  The Ayatollah appears to be looking forward to a global Muslim union. Which means it is time to review the word of the month, Caliphate.

Caliphate.   – A unified federal Islamic government for the Muslim world, ruled by an elected head of state or caliph.

The word caliphate has been heard on American television and radio more in the past two weeks than the past two decades.  One imagines that it will be heard in various forms at the upcoming 24th International Islamic Unity Conference, held at the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting International Conference Center in Tehran February 19 – 21.  Pre-event press claims that 500 or so Iranian Shia and Sunni scholars will be speaking and they have also invited an additional 250 from 57 countries.

But all of that that does not signal any plan or attempt at merge a large union of predominantly Muslim countries into one unified Muslim world, does it?  No. However, you might reconsider when the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of Iran’s Armed Forces,  Major General Hassan Firouzabadi says something like this;
“Unity and solidarity present Muslim governments and nations with the best and most effective way to counter the plans, plots, and conspiracies of the enemies of Islam.”
As the Major General talks of “unity and solidarity” between Muslim nations, we see that eleven countries in the Middle East are currently experiencing protests on a daily basis.  Their fragile governments, like Egypt could start falling like dominoes, leaving a power vacuum.  Even MSNBC picked this up, and showed a map similar to the one that appeared on Beck’s February 1st program.

As the graphic aired, Andrea Mitchell asked Stephan Hadley of the U.S. Institute of Peace;
Is there some sort of dynamic here where there is an infection of democracy?

Hadley makes it clear that he does not want the riots and protests spreading across the Middle East to be called anything bad like an infection.  And yet, the infection appears to be spreading across the region. That reality is also not lost on the opportunistic forces gathering with hopes of capitalizing on the unrest.

By the way, Unity Week kicks off tomorrow, coinciding with the birth date of Prophet Mohammad.  The timing of all of these events should be noted.

It was less than two weeks ago that Chris Matthews and MSNBC started questioning Glenn Beck’s sanity while attacking theories that the unrest across the Middle East is setting the table for a massive Muslim union.

    this is exactly what the Glenn Beck research watchdogs have been presenting for how long now… but it is still not going to be feasible in America, yet…. there are still too many real gun-owning awake Americans still alive. all they can do is take-over the world and as obama tries to assist them in handing over America, we will dissolve into massive civil war. one good thing tho, we can pretty much tell 99% of them on sight.

    1. How is this different than the “Kingdom of God” Christians believe is coming after the events of the revelation of St. John?
    2. Why should we be afraid of a political unit whose economic and military power would still be below our own.

    Also, for the record, once more, it is ONLY Shii’te Muslims who believe in a messianic second coming of Mohammed, Jesus (yup), and the Mahdi and the establishment of a global caliphate, NOT the Sunnis, who are a MAJORITY in every country EXCEPT Iran and Iraq. And that’s also a large part of why Arabs hate Persians (Iranians)–just because the leader talks about Middle Eastern, or even more ambitious global Islamic, unification doesn‘t mean it’s likely or even that the status quo conditions are AT ALL conducive to it. For as many similarities as States with large Muslim populations may have, they have just as many differences and it’s easy, especially as foreign observers, to forget how many wars and disputes have occurred, and indeed are ongoing, between those States. The brutal Iranian War; the Turkish-Armenian conflict; Turkey’s distancing its own self from the rest of the Middle East; developments unique to Africa and ethnic nationalism (in the North African Muslim states); and tribalism in Pakistan as well as struggles with India. What about Indonesia, which has the largest Muslim populace outside the region–if there truly was a global movement to unite Islamic states, Indonesia should be much more active in the region, be showing increased ties to states there, there should be more pan-regional solidarity–but there isn’t. For all the reasons and examples I’ve shown, there isn’t.

    I find it interesting that the media hates it when a man like Beck who is not a journalist is ahead of the curve on everything he’s talked about so far. I’m going to use the term for the MSM that the British used for us in WW1. Johnny Come Lately. Johnny Come Lately needs to stop focusing on Beck and focusing more on the real story instead of a Utopian society that will never exist.

    Maybe our government should be making preparations of how to deal with the caliphate that will soon be instead of trying to paint Beck as crazy. These people do not like us. They want to exterminate Israel and then America. Instead Obama signed the Start Treaty to destroy our own weapons.He’s a lunatic! This is a time to build up our defenses and hope we don’t have to use them. I don’t know why we should wait for 2012 to be rid of this traitor, we should impeach him.

      The hard part tying him to the Antichrist is that Muslims believe that only Allah is to be worshipped while the Bible says that the first beast (from the sea) will be worshipped. However, I believe that the beast from the sea is actually Islam itself as beasts in the Bible are typically ‘systems’ and not persons. The “little horn” who rises from that beast is the Antichrist and I believe that al Mahdi will fill that bill.

      Also I’d be more concerned with Israel nuking all threats if they are surrounded and the US fails to stand with them. Don’t think Israel will go anywhere without a fight.

      Same with China.

      Difference between Israel and us is that they are not fairytale twisting this story for their people. It is very real and very dangerous for their existence. They will not allow activists, humanists whatever stop them from doing what needs to be done.

      Same goes for Asia. You think China is going to let that happen? No shot.

      Iran is Persia which was founded by Arphaxad (grandson of Noah) in a city called Susa on the Persian Gulf way BEFORE Egypt. (look it up) It is an original seat of civilization where the Noahide laws were followed. Through these laws, Mesopotamia developed their legal system which was the basis of American law.

      Hammurabi reinstituted these laws after defeating the Assyrians — who are the progenitors of the Arabs and Islam. Cyrus, the great Persian king, did the same later. Ancient history in Mesopotamia is a matter of keeping the bad guys in check because they always get out of hand and destroy, conquer, steal and rewrite history to aggrandize themselves.

      One potential I see happening is this:

      In the event the caliphate does occur, there will be a unified front from christians and other opponents of the caliphate. Instead of a difference of political lines during the cold war, this will involve both the political differences and faith ideals between two power blocks. This may sound crazy upon its own surface, yet consider this, the muslums extremists in the past have claimed to have the ability to rally over 1 billion of the faithful to their own banners; yet the papacy can also rally the catholics with the same numbers, along with any protestant and other christian faiths rallying along with them, can outnumber the caliphate with some 2 billion faithful or so.

      This is a war of light vs darkness, of freedom of the individual vs the collective, of liberty vs tyranny.

      We must all stand strong.

      Gee that map looks awfully familiar?! Where have I seen that before? More vindication for Beck but they will continue to call him names and call those of us that are fans names. Here is a tweet from someone who took shots at me “ryder_bike@BMartin1776 anyone that would refer to Glenn beck as reliable is a mental midget.”

      They call names, mock the situation meanwhile this crazy talk they point out is becoming reality. This caliphate will not be isolated to just the middle east and northern Africa. As we now know the leaders in the UK, France, and Germany have all said multiculturalism (specifically with Muslims etc) doesn’t work. These nations are being over run with the Muslim community and influence like a virus. Do not forget it is growing all over the world at IMO an alarming rate.

      Sorry but yes I do have a negative opinion towards Islam and it will stay until I see the heads, Imams etc speaking out against the radicals. Oh yes right now we have one or two speaking out but the majority remains silent. Silent out of fear or approval?

      Also too many throwing “democracy” around, that its something the US wants to install within other nations. IMO we are guilty of not being specific when stating this with regards to the nation building the US is involved in. Everyone should be saying “democratic republic” not democratic/democracy. Majority rule…mob rule ie democracy is what you have now in Iran, Cuba, Venezuela, many nations now on fire this should not be encouraged. What people around the world need to know and those in a position of influence need to be saying is adding “republic” into the mix where the majority/mob rule is restrained by the rule of law.

      This is what makes America great and for countless LEGAL immigrant to want to come here!

      Look folks, just because many of you seem to have just discovered the term “caliphate” does not mean that everything is pointing to a grand conspiracy. And since when do we take what the Ayatollah says seriously? First of all, Khomeini is using the term “Muslim World” no differently than the way we use the term “The West,” as in: “The West’s influence on China,“ or ”diplomatic ties with the West.” Believe it or not, people occasionally use catch-all terms to decribe geographic or cultural regions.

      But if, in a kind of counterintuitive way, we assume Khomeini is saying something about a caliphate. Is this a surprise to anyone? Everyone knows that Iran has been trying to increase its influence among Muslim countries. All of you do realize that if Khomeini says tomorrow that he wants to make everyone in the world eat falafel three times a day, that does not make it any more likely that it will happen. If Osama Bin Laden says back in the early 2000s that he wants to establish a caliphate (which he did), that also does not make it any more likely to happen.

      So what has Beck done here? He “discovers” the idea of the caliphate–something that extremists have been talking about for quite a long time–and then anytime after this point when someone mentions the caliphate (or when they don’t, as is the situation here) it somehow confirms Beck’s theory (although his theory seems to be that the idea of the caliphate exists, which is not a theory so much as something people already knew).

      Come on folks. Think a bit more.

      What is it with the men of Islamic faith? They need to cover up women like they hate seeing them, but are extremely jealous if their wife so much as talks to another man. They want to keep women in “their” place, in the home.
      When they come to America, they all seem to flock to the strip bars, where they watch naked or semi-naked WOMEN. Am I missing something?

So stop listening to the facts and start relying on a dependable news outlet like MSNBC or huffpo. They never let the facts get in the way of their opinion like that nutjob Beck does.       Seriously, the Muslim world is far more varied and nuanced than the caricature that Beck paints for his viewers every day on his show. And even if clerics in Iran seek that much power one day, just as Beck hopes to convert the entire world to his viewpoint, it will likely fail. There are very big differences between Muslims living in Egypt, Jordan and Saudi Arabia–to say nothing about those living in Bosnia or in Malaysia or in Michigan. The oversimplification here is astounding.

      A caliphate is a coordinated effort of all Muslims, Communists, Socialists, leftists, Marxists. Piven, Van Jones, Soros, Democrats, European socialist countries, the media (except for FOX), President Obama, former President Bush’s State Department, the Muslim Brotherhood and all their US affiliates, officials at all levels of the current administration, every Muslim and Mosque in this country (and the world) and, yes I’m not joking – this is what Beck says – MTV, to impose Sharia law on the entire world.

      Anonymous, that’s the definition and a few of the main players. Basically almost everyone the world is coordinating to establish a socialist/Muslim world government under Sharia law. Scary? Yes.

      Interesting as always Snow and BMartin…I agree it is Liberty vs. Tyranny; however this is leaving out what side Russia and China will team up with, and make no mistake they will take a side. Can anyone seriously say it will be on the side of liberty? China is already influencing our foreign policy heavily through the control of our debt. Imams have zero issues lying to advance the Muslim faith (they even have a word for it, Taqiyya). Whether you are a Christian, Atheist or consider your local pub your Chapel, this is shaping up to be the battle of all battles and it appears many of our politicians are either beyond naïve or complicit in exacerbating the situation.

      what these dummies don‘t realize is that these countried won’t just be one BIG country. They will just be RULED by a muslim religious leader in say, persia(Iran)?
      If they do that, how much do you think oil will cost then? The major domino will be saudi arabia. It is VERY weak, and no one there really likes the royal family. There is no government position there that is NOT in the hands of the family and most others ther are poor.
      I still don’t understand what the msm has to gain by not reporting on this stuff. It’s not like they will get a seat at the table if it happens.

      seems that alot of people are naive to the fact that seemingly overly fervent terrorists and their acts of violence are not just random but instead a branch of a larger tree….

      just as before much of conservative talk radio and glenn‘s work most people were naive to the fact that the seemingly ridiculous and backwards social agendas of liberals weren’t just a group of confused people, but instead a branch of a larger tree……..

      why do you assume he just recently discovered the term?…..maybe its just right message at the right time in context of the middle east excitement?
      maybe its more revealing that in retrospect of your recent discovery of the term , you have decided to project your inadequacy of historical scope onto us?

      i do agree with you that people often use general terms for geography and political regions,
      but hey, at this point its time we start (at least) realizing that our two ways of lives are contrary to one another and will inevitably clash, and start seriously assessing, comparing, and discovering the very sharp contrasts of ideology between our many worlds ,
      i believe our differences are to be celebrated, but at a fundamental level, some ideologies are completely incompatible and opposing
